Kungsträdgården The King's garden) is the most pampig and decadent station of them all. Unfortunately the videographer didn't make it justice. There are so many amazing stations as well that really make you stop and appreciate your surroundings even if you are in a hurry.
If i remember right, most stations are ”bare rock” because the bedrock is quite shallow in Sweden, making tunnel building easy as supports are generally not needed. The shape of the tunnels is pretty much left as is from the blasting
The so called "classical school carriages" have now been fully scrapped and been replaced by new white modern carriages called C30. The other carriage 2:55 have been refurbished with similar interior to C30.
I think the benefit is less graffiti and it’s easier to remember what station you’re at, especially for tourists, children or really drunk people 😂😂 It’s also a way to learn, see new concepts and tickle your brain. ❤
KTH, the four elements are illustrated at the entrances, and a fifth (space time) in the center. A diagram illustrates photon orbits around a singularity. Newtons apple is a bit off center. We also have the Mechanical Alphabet by Polhelm. Damn, I was inspired every day I walked through (on my way to uni)
Filming privately for one’s personal use is allowed and don’t need any permission. Commercial filming (like shooting a music video) usually requires some sort of permit due to safety reasons. Those permits are almost always allowed without any problems.
As i was young and i were exploring Stockholm back in 1997, i went to every station and i explored all those parts of the city. If i got lost, i just aked from the people the nearest tunnelbana entrence and that was the easiest way to navigate around. I propably walked over 20km at two days row. One day wasn´t long enough to visit and explore those places. I also lived in Tensta two years as i were a toddler. I alwyas liked to go tunnelbana even at that time.
It feels so weird watching this because these are normal things to me and to see someone react so interested in this from someone else's perspective of something that we see as normal, it's exciting and fun to see I’m sorry if it’s hade to understand because speaking English and typing in English is to different things 😅 and because I’m dyslexic
It's not the art itself that I like. I like that many of the stations look like huge caves! I was really amazed the first time I went down to the blue line platform at T-Centralen. So much different than the boring green and red line platforms at the same station. :)
One part that is missing is that the art changes, especially in the boring old stations, that wasn't designed with art in mind. But these days there are some wall space dedicated to art instead of billboards.
Well, as I seem to remember, Akalla isn't the Silicon Valley of Sweden. That is Kista. But perhaps you meant that the metro is along the Akalla line and that passes Kista?
It depends on the purpose, I think with homeless people, but no I agree that there was an unnecessary clip in the film. There is another video on the same theme with the subways made by a Swede, I think that video is much better as he also explains a little more about the idea behind the stations.
The subway in London is mostly very shallow. So there is little space between house foundation and the station. In Stockholm most of the stations are really deep. They are way below foundation level so they can make them much roomier. There are some stations that are very close to the surface, they are way more cramped. 3:44 you don´t need to have permission to film a music video in a public space in Sweden.. So no, they don´t have permission and they don´t need to. (security could still ask you to move if you are in the way for people or if you are blocking emergency exits, or basically pretty much any resons, but they can´t fine you) 4:35 Fridhemsplan. Peace-home-plane... or the plane of home peace. In stockholm the word plane refers to overdecking. Due to the geology and climate of Stockholm they didn´t want to make dug down entrance to stations. So they in stead make over decking where the entrance was the prior street level and the street where the cars and trucks drive was moved one story up. A lot of stockholm is made this way. That is why a lot of stores have two entrance floors. One at the old street level and one at new street level. 9:00 the begers are fake, don´t fall for it. . its basically a scam. There use to be real beggers, but the orginzied beggers, basically like a mafia organization have just removed all the real beggers. Only the fake left.
8:20 a reason a lot of ppl don’t like beggars is because they get money for the state if they are jobless and a free house/appartment. So they basically have every thing they need to get a proper job and have no actual reason to beg. Most of the ppl that are homeless choose to not get help by the state.
You cant really spoil art... it always looks a million time better in real life. I went to Rome, saw Berninis David sculpture. Seen it in books a million times before, I still spent over an hour watching the real thing.

I went to filmschool in Stockholm a couple of decades ago. We had some scenes in the subway. Getting a permit was a breeze. Like Super easy. But on the day of. We had to get power for lights and the guards were not into us being there and did just about everything to hinder us and bothered the actors. But we had light rigs, huge cameras, rail systems, light bouncers, microphone stands set up all over. Was a hard thing to sync up with the commuters. Thank you to the org fuck you to the guards! Haha. I can fully understand people just shooting on the downlow now that technology is so tiny and you get endless tries and takes.
Well, not exactly. It has the same meaning though. Tunnelbana translated word by word; Tunnel=Tunnel. Bana= Track, and some other words that won't fit in this meaning of the word. So tunnel track. And I can see how the word sounds funny for a non Swedish speaker like a lot of words we have.
I think aesthetics and cleanliness in public spaces is one of the keys to why people in Scandinavia are at the top when it comes to happiness. I have watched several clips from US suburbs and cities. Filthy, almost completely lacking in design, dilapidated buildings and lots, poorly maintained sidewalks, etc. Such an environment is the breeding ground for misery, crime and drug abuse. I must also admit that I am a bit tired of the cliché that Swedes are grumpy and quiet. I have been to several of Europe's capitals and the people there are just as reserved as the Swedes.
They tore down the whole of Central Stockholm from the 50's until the 70's that's why it looks so terrible. While Kungsträdgården is beautiful it also make me depressed because of all the beautiful buildings that where needlessly torn down to be replaced by shoeboxes. Kungsträdgården was originally supposed to be built in the park Kungsträdgården but there where massive protests against the cutting down of the tree's so the station got delayed 10 years and moved into the basement of a nearby building.
There is a scary subway station in London, unfortunately I cant remember at what stop, bud it feels like you are a mile below ground. There is the smallest elevator in the world that transport you up to the surface, if you dont take the stairs. The elevator/lift seems to be built for maximum of 5 people, but people cramp up, and squeeze together until there are 30 persons in there, so just hold your breath and pray to Higher powers that no one farts, or that the elevator get stucked... 😄
Sweden is probably the worst place to do begging, we are so into digital money transfer /payment, almost no physical money are used. It does have a negative impact in the case of crisis or war.
Eh. I've seen a different TH-cam video of Stockholm's subways floating about that is a lot better. The person who made that video had actually read up about each station and their art and he talks a lot more about the actual art, the artists who made it, the ideas behind the themes of each station and so on, rather than just walk around and guessing like the guy in your video seems to be doing.
I live in Sweden, and can tell you there is no need to be homeless or be a beggar, since we have extensive social programs. The beggars that appear in the trains and in the cities are professional beggars who come typically from Romania. They refuse to get regular jobs, and earn enough because of people feeling sorry for them. They are part of organized troupes and travel back and forth to Romania bringing money back and making their families well off. They are not poor and they have no need to beg. They are fraudsters, preying on kind-hearted tourists and the elderly.
Well, I have lived in Sweden all my life, and there are significant cracks in those social programs that puts ordinary citizens on the street for longer or shorter periods. But, hey, be xenofobic instead, that works great.
@@SteamboatW I am the opposite of xenophobic, and I treasure experiences with people from all around the world. Perhaps you are not aware of the full story? I just hate when people are lying and taking advantage of others. They often pretend to be blind, or have an injured leg. (Proved by YTers who follow them off the train and see them make use of their "injured" leg, and can perfectly see if they have pretended to be blind). They are scammers, pure and simple. @Exania88 It is not quite that simple. Many people who are homeless in Sweden also have mental health issues or a mental illness. There has also been a growing number of people become homeless because their economy collapses. This includes families with children. They are just more likely to get a place in a homeless shelter. Sweden do many things well, but it can be really hard to get help when you need it. Especially if you are neurodivergent. The social safety net has been undermined by the right-wing for decades. You mean like to farsta? Most stations are outside so i get you
Kungsträdgården The King's garden) is the most pampig and decadent station of them all.
As someone who lives in Sweden I can confirm these artworks are real, seen it with my own eyes and it’s beautiful
I think the benefit is less graffiti and it’s easier to remember what station you’re at, especially for tourists, children or really drunk people 😂😂
It’s also a way to learn, see new concepts and tickle your brain.
Kungsträdgården = The Kings Garden.
Subway i is a public place so filming/photographing is allowed
It was not a Russian begging, but either she is from Bulgaria or from Romania.
It is not about what is allowed, but normal decency.
It feels so weird watching this because these are normal things to me and to see someone react so interested in this from someone else's perspective of something that we see as normal, it's exciting and fun to see
I’m sorry if it’s hade to understand because speaking English and typing in English is to different things 😅 and because I’m dyslexic
I used to live along the blue line of the Subway.. Akalla end station.. In Swedens silicon valley.
(security could still ask you to move if you are in the way for people or if you are blocking emergency exits, or basically pretty much any resons, but they can´t fine you)
4:35 Fridhemsplan.
If you want to see insane subway stations, check out St. Petersburg, Russia!
You cant really spoil art... it always looks a million time better in real life.
I went to Rome, saw Berninis David sculpture.
Seen it in books a million times before, I still spent over an hour watching the real thing.
Rådhusets station looks like underground base on Mars.
An apple hanging at the station named high school of technology and you dont connect it to Isaac Newton? The statues and ornaments are from the castle Makalös. It burned down 1825.
It's not high school (swe: gymnasium). Some "lower grade" universities are called högskola. (You are probably Swedish since you know about the palace Makalös but I'm writing this for others who don't know).
@@Cerise884 De flesta högskolor heter University på engelska
@@Ikajo Ja, fast jag påpekade bara att det inte är en highschool så inte engelskspråkiga tror att stationen är namngiven efter ett tekniskt gymnasium ...
Well now day (for me) i just just the creditcard when i want to travel. We still have SL kort but i dont use it and its the same price. 42kr for one adult
Compared to NYC subway, this is nice and sweet
02:57 he did not mention the cattle metro car. The first car is almost gone, the older one. 06:57 Cmon the apple is important. 🙄 08:52 seen her some times, they all have their train route.
I think i have seen the things in the video cuz i live in Sweden
I went to filmschool in Stockholm a couple of decades ago. We had some scenes in the subway. Getting a permit was a breeze. Like Super easy. But on the day of. We had to get power for lights and the guards were not into us being there and did just about everything to hinder us and bothered the actors. But we had light rigs, huge cameras, rail systems, light bouncers, microphone stands set up all over. Was a hard thing to sync up with the commuters. Thank you to the org fuck you to the guards! Haha. I can fully understand people just shooting on the downlow now that technology is so tiny and you get endless tries and takes.
the stations are nice but most of em are extremely dangerous. theres a pretty high chance of getting robbed inside a station after 5pm
The old subway trains have end its journy on the stockholm subway
"The gallery has a funny name - Tunnelbana".
Bro, Tunnelbana is the translation of subway
💀💀💀💀
Så Dwayne , hur går det med Svensk studierna?
Agree about filming homeless people begging 100%. I do think they have more pressing issues tho.
Most subway stations also double as bomb shelters.
Kungsträdgården has the best art and Thorildsplan
Technically, it's the underground, not just a subway.
The beggars in Sweden are not Swedish!
Good to know that
Agree
there are so many more cool stations btw!
We in sweden does not give cash to those kinds of beggers because they can be scamming however those who sell situatin sthlm is real beggars
The subway in Sweden has very high ceilings, not at as London or Paris
in Sweden you do not need permission to film in public places.
You do need permission to film in the metro in sweden if its for commercial purpose. No need if for private use.
You have to look up our metall band sabaton its a power metall band you Will love it 😉😉
They tore down the whole of Central Stockholm from the 50's until the 70's that's why it looks so terrible.
He said "I do not understand..." I can't hear what, but assume he means her language (Romanian).
Meh looks better on cam than irl 😂
Welcome to Sweden 😊
Härlig engelska där!
@@KristianEkstrom-u3y gick lite för fort :)
wait, are you saying you DON'T make thing look vissualy apealing in other contries
We also have some really ugly ones...
4:18 why wouldn’t they be allowed to film??
You can watch plenty of youtube videos where you see professional beggars in various countries: beggar "families" who show up on the trains begging to help feed their poor poor starving child who is deathly ill.... and the YTers who track them notice that it is a different spouse / different child every time they board the train. They often pretend to be blind, or have an injured leg. (Proved by YTers who follow them off the train and see them make use of their "injured" leg, and can perfectly see if they have pretended to be blind). They are scammers, pure and simple. It is a major racket, on par with the mafia.
mm stockholm ,,, the rotten apple! 🤣🤣
Usually the beggars aren’t “homeless” per se, they rarely sleep on the streets or similar
can you pleasse react to croatia song's for eurovision 2024 , please?
And You know it wont cost you much to get to sweden from uk and what you would see are tourists and immigrants so you would just fit in fine - get some nice clothes so you would not seem to be from a garage in the suburbs ( sweden males dress nicly so much finns call them gays)
Those arent real beggars in that they really need the money, no one should give them money(and most dont). But yes he shouldnt have filmed her.
I think we are just neutral when going about inte the Subway and such, not really any different approach to other people than anywhere else in the world.
I think most stations are incredibly boring 😂
those who ride the subway and beg actually have a roof over their heads, how else would they be able to afford to ride the subway. the real outcasts don't beg and want to be left alone. I grew up in Stockholm County. then the old wagons that are in the video are no longer in traffic.
Planka is still a thing... Homless people pay to sleep on the pendeltåg. Beggars plankar...
if you wanna increase ratings of your channel- analyse turkish eurovision wiiner sertab erener's son AŞK, "Sertab Erener - Aşk (Akustik)", also english version is avaible "Sertab Erener - Leave (Live) "
Why making a video without doing research about the place?
It's a shame it all smells of piss, or has it changed the last 10 years?
if u live in sweden and done everything u can the legal way correct u would never need to beg. beggers in sweden are a scam or are in sweden ilegaly. do not give them money.
Unless they aren't. There are quite a few Swedes living in the streets too.
@@SteamboatW then there is there own foult. they put themselfs there. harsh yes but from experice I know that anyone can get around and live good in sweden when using the system that is set up for it. so if u are on the streets in sweden its of ur own making.
@@Exania88 You are a despicable human being, if even that. Victim blaming is so SD.
Depending on where you live, you have very little recourse.
@@Ikajo u talking to someone that have had no home, that have adhd and aoutism dont throw that nonsense at me. if u do it right within the law u would not be without a home.
0:46 Man, you have such high expectations!
Sure, Stockholm is still beautiful and cozy, despite everything,
but Stockholm (or the rest of Sweden...) is going to be a disappointment!
