America was discovered by Columbus in 1492AD as many European nations started to establish colonies.

Americans were no allowed to have industries; have no trade with any country except England
People did not enjoy same rights as English enjoyed in England - Americans had no representation in British Parliament
They had to pay more taxes than English paid in England
English settlers were inspired by Rousseau, Voltaire, Montesquieu - who believed in freedom, equality and rights
1765- Stamps Act was passed by English Parliament which imposed stamp taxes on all business transactions - it awakened resentment among colonists
