Charlie quit his job 9 months ago and has since been traveling the world on his bicycle. He's fallen in love with Chiang Mai and decided to stop here for awhile so I'm going to show him the most iconic route, Samoeng Loop.

Samoeng loop is such a joy to ride.
Personally I like the south side much better. So when I was there I would ride out of town (through the University and the back roads) and then ride up to the viewpoint where the sell fruit and snacks. I really love the road between the police station and that lookout point so sometimes I ride that section multiple times. Then I go back the way I came and avoid the busier northern section and all the traffic on the north side of Chiang Mai. I did want to ride some of the other roads going north from the northern half of the normal loop but I didn't do it
