Great list! I’ve read or have on my TBR list 8 of these! I feel like Inland was years ago but it wasn’t. I remember being so surprised by the camels! It made me relook at where the setting was for this story. I thought I understood it until that and then I had to check!
As an Indian who happens to be a Bengali, I can assure you that you pronounced Megha Majumdar's name perfectly. And I loved all the books mentioned in this video. Specially Luster & You Exist Too Much. Will read them first.
I love your great selection of books! Your reviews/recommendations are interesting and fun to listen to, unlike other BookTubers who don’t know what the book is about that they are recommending. The fact that you actually have read some of the books or in the process of reading makes you a “plus” above the others. I am about 100 pages into The New Wilderness and really enjoying it! Thank you and stay safe!
You have three points out of twenty-one shots. A surprising longlist with many books, I did not know anything about. Now we have three weeks to read 'em all, for me in Sweden way too short, because even if I order in the UK, due to COVID, it'll take a month for books to get here. And in a month we'll be discussing the shortlist.,
I've been hearing a lot of buzz about Betty by Tiffany McDaniel but haven't read it yet. Also I think Yaa Gyasi's last name is pronounced "Jessie".....I saw her at BEA several years ago when Homegoing came out.
Such a great list. I've read How Much of These Hills is Gold by C Pam Zhang and Real Life by Brandon Taylor. Have still to read The Shadow King by Maaza Mengiste and The New Wilderness by Diane Cook on loan on my ipad. Hope to read some of the others on your list too. I wonder if Shuggie Bain is eligible, apparently the author has lived in NYC for some years?
You exist too much was very good, I follow your recommendations because you have very good taste on books and you know what you are talking about. I want to read Like a bird and Leave the world behind. Great video💖
I’m thinking there’s a chance The Vanishing Half, My Dark Vanessa, Weather, or Such a Fun Age gets in too. Such a Fun Age is borderline, but if it’s good enough for The Booker...
I think The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel will be on the list. I hope that Valentine makes it. It was amazing. And there’s usually at least one short story collection. Maybe Edwidge Danticat?
I’ve only read 3? on your list. I’m only halfway through The Death of Vivek Oji I’m struggling to finish How Much of these Hills is Gold I didn’t understand/ get Inland The writing was great but plot? Where was the book going? What was it saying? 👋☘️📚🦋📖🤩🌈
Jacqueline McMenamin The Inland sounds like Wild Wild West meets ghost story or magical realism(??). It’s gotten good reviews so I may have to check it out.
I struggled a bit with These Hills. I put it down about 2/3 in and just haven’t picked it back up. Maybe it just wasn’t the right book/right time for me. I’ll go back to it eventually.
I tried to nail the ten here: th-cam.com/video/NJ2xuXLrKYc/w-d-xo.html. We have six books in common. I am surprised that you did not include "The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett which was one of my favorite books of the year. Let's see what comes on Friday!!

Immediately intrigued by Must I Go - I was a little surprised because I haven’t heard anything about it but it just sounds right up my alley
I rarely comment but your videos are so so so fantastic I love all your recommendations!

So many female authors!! I am living for it. This whole video is my new tbr lmao
Oh My Goodness! I have added many of these to my tbr, as usual. I read and LOVED Deacon King Kong....

Yup - its Jessie!
Love this! Can't wait to hear what you think of the Longlist!

"Shuggie Bain" is eligible since Douglas Stuart has joint British and American citizenship.

I’ve just bought Transcendent Kingdom and The Great Offshore Lands following your reviews/recommendations 🤩🙏👍

I need 🌳The New Wilderness🌳TODAY! Is it out already??
It is out! You can get your hands on it right now!
I’ve only read These Hills and Vivek Oji. I think you will love Vivek, such a beautiful, sad story.
I’ve only read 3? on your list. I’m only halfway through
The Death of Vivek Oji
I’m struggling to finish
How Much of these Hills is Gold
I didn’t understand/ get

Hey, have you any plans of reading the new book by Elena Ferrrante? Love from India. stay safe and take care.
Do it phonetically Russell. A-quake-A. 🤔🥴😊
I cannot even start to think how to do their name phonetically
