August 1 2011 - Salt Lake City International Airplane Spotting

- Today I had to drive to Salt Lake City from Idaho to pick up my nephew cause he was flying in from Long Beach,CA from a vacation. I had about 30 minutes to spare so I parked and filmed some planes taking off and landing. Hopefully my hand wasn't too shaky. I was really surprised with the amount of airplane traffic. They were constantly taking off for a good 30 minutes one after another. Then before i knew it the strip turned into a landing strip and all the takeoff's took place at the strip on the other side of the airport. I actually had a Police Officer stop and tell me that the Pilots don't like people to park for too long where I was parked. I obliged and moved to the Park and Wait area. That is where you see the brief timelapse. It was a fun day. I went to Joes Crab Shack for dinner in Sandy,Utah and had a full lobster and some snow crab. It was a great time. I enjoy your video. However: Tripod? You zoom so far in on each plane while it's taking off that you bump the camera too much trying to keep the whole plane in the video rectangle. Thanks very much for sharing this though! I have watched this a few times for awhile here and there. Again, thanks! =)
this is the area of the airport where all of the small planes land and take off...the other side of the airport is where the big planes come in. (trust me i live in Utah..i would know) :)
So where are the big planes?

bout ten and a half minute mark that airbus 319 or 320 did not abort a take off he landed watch again. Kinda hard to abort a take off when you're landing.
nice video but at the end when you showed the cars parked up going into the pay stations what was the obscured signs for? it I don't think would be a good place for arrivals and departures signs.
