Absolutely right. The British did what they did for their own benefit. e.g. railways to transport our recourses to the ports, english education so they could conduct their exploitation more efficiently. But I am forever grateful to our social reformers like Ram Mohan Roy, Vidyasagar, Periyar, Ambedkar, Sarojini Naidu, Vivekananda, Henry Derozio and anyone else I forgot to mention. They used their education and intelligence to accept the best of both worlds and discard the rest of the dogmatic and "problematic" aspects.
No doubt the contribution of western education in India was remarkable. We were always divided due to caste and religion and followed baseless blind culture. Western education encouraging scrutiny was a game changer. May be it was an act of GOD. We are more of culture followers and less of understanding the matter mindset..
