This is the same “MT” found on the SkilKast, an ingenious centrifugal brake. Parts are missing on yours, notably the minute and loose(!) ball bearings that operate with the directional cam. Often, people will unwittingly open the MT up and lose the tiny bearings. And/or they put parts back in wrong order. This is a reel where referring to a schematic ahead of time is important. Also, working over a damp paper towel may help keep the bearings from hitting the floor! Later models of the MT the mechanism was sealed, which likely saved a lot of heartache.
Ah! Yours looks be a later version of the MT, with two cams -sans tiny easily lost ball bearings. Even later Pflueger went to a “sealed unit” that was simply easier for maintenance. Gosh those little bearings can be nerve racking! Wouldn’t know if parts are missing without a schematic, or putting line on and seeing that that ingenious directional MT is functioning.
Happy New Year! I have Shimano Stradic 6000 FG and 6000 FH. Both have been through a lot. Drive gears and most parts are pretty much worn out. I was wondering if there's some way, I can send them to you so you can take a look, see if you can clean, repair or replace parts if necessary. Let me know what you think.
Do the new Pfleuger from China have plastic parts like the Abu Ambassadors do? I err on the side of age all the time. I like this reel Dennis. It looks sturdy and well-made! Great video Dennis - Chris
The current Pflueger line up is largely limited to spinning reels and the low profile President baitcasting reel. They are variations on the Pure Fishing reels. I am not aware of plastic parts other than what would be common in all reels. The President line is still a well made reel.
Happy New Year! Onward to 2023!
All your commentators have given me some great searching subjects for 2023.
Thanks for all that you do!
Happy new year! The gun is off and the hunt is on! Best wishes Scott

Thanks for the additional information and tip on the paper towel - Dennis

Knuckle buster? No AR on this reel? Or did I get distracted or miss something? Thanks Dennis. 👍
This is a traditional Star drag reel with an A/R set up. Not a knuckle buster.
