JBL Flip 1 Bluetooth Speaker Battery Replacement

I purchased a used JBL Flip Bluetooth speaker with a dead battery for $20. I know there are Bluetooth speakers out there that are cheap but probably don't sound that great. I took a chance this used JBL speaker because I have already heard the sound quality before the purchase. I bought a new lithium replacement battery for $15. So overall, I have spent $35 on the whole thing. I think the outcome would still be better than buying a cheaper off brand Bluetooth speaker with inferior sound. So this video, I will show you how to replace the old battery of JBL Flip. Enjoy

Thank you for this tutorial! My old speaker is now working perfectly without plugging it. I broke a few minor parts in the process, there are definitely a few scratches that weren't there before, and it took me over an hour, but I made it, thank you! I'm glad I won't have to throw it away any time soon.

Thank you for this tutorial. It worked perfectly. I saved guite a bit of money. I didn’t have to buy a new speaker or have to send mine off for repairs. Plus, while changing the battery, I got all the dust cleaned out of it.

A lot of effort to disassemble in order to get to the battery. I wonder how Sony would have constructed the device if they were legally required to do the replacement upon their Customers' request.

Wow they make you work for that. If only it was external and fixed in place with a screw. My parents one has a failed battery so I'll give this a go next time I'm there.

Haha, everything that's wireless got a rechargeable battery inside. Except a hammer. Nowadays you can get replacement parts easily. Good thing you didn't toss it away. For a few dollars, your bluetooth speaker is as good as new.

Will the speaker "forget" any previously connected device?
I have an old phone which was connected, then broke, and I've been unsuccessful in "resetting" the speaker.

No issues connecting to all devices. I was connecting to an older Samsung phone then last week i got newer Samsung phone and it connected it with not issues. I used the speaker everyday. You can try to press and hold onto the power button to connect to you phone see if that helps.

Only works when plugged in. 😆. Or only last for a few minutes on a charge.

You press and hold on to the power button until it makes noise to pair. You can instructions online to set it up.

Was the original batter lithium ion or lithium polymer?

Not even sure the difference between the two. I thought lithium is lithium. Replacement one is probably some cheapie from China. Only last for a few hours on each charge. Good enough, i guess.
