Home Fry here (Home Free fan). Loved your reaction to the video I saw first and was immediately hooked by! Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole … and Home Fries will come and point the way (but don’t worry, on the whole, we’re a pretty enthusiastic but friendly group🙃). I caution you not to react to Mayday until you know the guys and what they do. 😉
Let’s introduce you to our guys: Front left in the video, we have the silky smoothness of tenor Rob “the beard” Lundquist. His lead in End of the Road is a must-see. I also love him in Bless the Broken Road, and Blue Ain’t Your Color, just to name a few.
Back left is baritone/bass Adam Chance, called Chance due to another Adam in the group. He took over for co-founder Chris Rupp, who left on good terms to pursue other things. Chance is the one doing the mouth harp here. I love his lead in Sea Chanty Medley, Winter Song, One Man Band, and Brothers in Arms - a fantastic tribute to troops and an absolute must see!
Center is the high tenor, the fabulous Austin Brown. When A Man Loves a Woman.
That’s all that needs to be said. Seriously.
Back right is founding member Adam “freak of nature” Rupp, tenor/beatboxer/vocal percussionist. He has several good drum solos, and to see his genius for arrangement, Do You Hear What I Hear, which (in my opinion) not only shows all individual talents, but also how well they blend as a group. In that video, you also see Chris Rupp. I highly recommend watching Adam’s “nomonica” in Ain’t Goin Down (Til the Sun Comes Up), which is only on Facebook due to some kind of copyright issue (but you can react to it on YT). It is amazing.
Last, but not least, front right, basso profundo with a 5+ octave range: Tim Foust, who is apparently part dragon. His range, control, and breath support on his low notes is out of this world. He co-leads in Brothers in Arms. You should also check the collaboration with Avi Kaplan (former PTX bass) in Ring of Fire. I also love him in Hillbilly Bone, The Butts Remix (which should be watched for comedic value alone!), All About the Bass, and Champagne Tastes (which he wrote). There are several videos of “Uncle Tim Runs His Mouth” or “Story Time With Tim” that are pretty funny and worth watching.
To see their amazing harmonies, see How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, Mary Did You Know, and (again) Brothers in Arms. I also recommend Tim’s collaboration with Peter Hollands in Misty Mountains. These guys switch leads depending on who they think will be the best. They have no egos, and collaborate with other groups/artists frequently. They lean country, but obviously do many styles of music. They are amazing, talented artists and genuinely nice, funny, down to earth people, too. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. It’s deep, but you’ll never want to escape!

I'd like to recommend 2 videos that I don't see mentioned enough. They show off the boys' talent and their amazing voices but also their goofy senses of humor. Austin takes lead in Wake Me Up and the close up camera shots accent his very young looking features and also Adam's beatboxing. The guy in the cap is Chris Rupp, which means the video is from before May 2016 when "short-bearded guy" Chance filled the gap of Chris leaving for other projects. Adam Rupp, beatboxer, is his brother and they are 2 of the founders of Home Free (2000).The second recommendation is What Christmas Means to Me. It goes back and forth between their beautiful harmonies and their totally out there sense of goofy fun. Oh, the two four-legged guests are Austin's babies, Koda and the pit is Titus. One thing to remember is that Home Free (and when they go solo) video aren't necessarily over when the music/voices stop. Please watch to the very end.

You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. This song blew me away when I first heard it & I was completely hooked. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

Home Free, the number one A-Cappella group for me. Five members with all different but beautiful voices, with their own specialties. Great harmonies. They don't have a real lead singer. They look for each song which voice fits best. Everything they do, they do well.
Austin Brown: High Tenor, with great runs and can sing very high.
Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses): Tenor with a voice like velvet and full of soul. Also a great whistler.
Tim Foust: Deep Bass, who can sing very low but also tenor.
Adam Chance(further called Chance, back left): Baritone/Bass, with a voice so smooth and sexy. And who, by the way, makes the Jaw Harp sound here.
Adam Rupp: beatboxer/percussionist/mouth artist, inhuman so good. Who can also sing tenor. The glue of the group. With his brother Chris Rupp the founder of the group over 20 years ago. Chris left the group in 2016 for a solo career and other projects. Chance replaced him.
Besides, all members can beatbox or make certain mouth sounds.
The strength of HF is the great personality, no rivalry, no egos, respecting each other, the brotherhood and having so much fun together in front of and behind the scenes. 💖
I am a real Home Fry from the Netherlands.

"Home Free Vocal Band" is a country a Capella group that won season 4 of the "Sing Off". Adam Rupp (world class beat boxer) and his brother Chris Rupp (left band in 2016) founded the band in 2001. Tim Foust - Incredible Bass, Rob Lundquist and Austin Brown - Amazing Tenors, Adam "Chance" - Smooth Baritone/Bass. I think “Man of Constant Sorrow” is their consummate Song/Video. Their catalog is huge with many, many outstanding songs. 50% Pop/Classic, 30% Country, 15% Inspiring, 5% Goofy Fun, 200% Entertaining, 100% Humble.

You've saved the cream of the crop for last. Five of the most talented guys in the musical arena. They have basically ruined me for other music. I try to listen to my other playlist. I have an entire separate one for Home Free. But a couple of songs in, I'm feeling like I'm wasting valuable Home Free listening time. My heart gets pulled back to Home Free. I didn't even know what beat boxing and vocal percussion were until I discovered Home Free and now I'm hooked on Adam Rupp performances and can't get enough of them. Yes, Adam's "no-monica" (what the Home Fries call it when Adam makes the harmonica sound without a harmonica) is legendary. His "no-monica" and other percussion are layered in. Others can make that sound, but his is the best. All the other percussion was him as well, but the jaw harp sound was made by Adam Chance (Chance), using a throat singing technique. He's the guy in back with the orange hat with a smoky baritone/bass voice. First soloist is Austin Brown, with fabulous, strong high tenor. Glasses and beard soloist is Rob Lundquist, lower tenor with a voice as smooth and sweet as caramel with some soul thrown in. The super bass with an insane 5 octave range is Tim Foust. You should check out Adam Rupp drum solo 2015 (red shirt). It is mind blowing.

You haven't even scratched the surface of what is Home Free! They helped us keep our sanity during the quarantine by releasing a new video on an almost monthly basis. They would each use their cell phones to record their part and then send it to their editing geniuses. Those songs have now been released as an album "The Sounds of Lockdown." Home Free has 200+ TH-cam videos. Austin, Tim and Chance each have individual TH-cam channels. As for me, no one can compare to Home Free. Enjoy your journey.

I think they were coming out with a great new video during the quarantine about every 2 weeks. The first one is actually called Quarantine. The bearded guy with the glasses, Rob co-hosts a movie review podcast with his buddy Eric 'Beugs' Beugler called The Avid Indoorsmen. Beugs has shown up in several Home Free videos and he has no shame. That him in the cut-off overalls (which he got from Tim) in The Butts Remix/Medley.

I would suggest When a Man Loves a Woman, or Sea Shanty Medley ,Butts Medley/ Remix , or God Bless the U.S.A featuring Lee Greenwood original singer and the USAF Band these songs show Adam's beatboxing talent and Home Frees great Harmonies

For a variety, try Can’t Stop The Feeling, Brothers in Arms, Blue Ain’t Your Color and When A Man Loves a Woman (Austin goes really high). Adam Rupp (2 times World Beatboxer Champ) has a drum solo video. And Tim Foust (the main bass singer) has 7-8 octave range. Watch his solo work Will You Still Love Me / Stay video. To get a taste of gospel Rob (beard with glasses) try End of the Road. They are all so talented! Don’t listen to Mayday though until you get to know them! Each of the Big 3 acapella groups has a backup bass. In this case, yes, Adam Chance (left rear) (goes by just "Chance") is backup bass, and is also doing the diggeri-doo / juice-harp sounds. Adam Rupp (right rear) is doing the drums, harmonica, and some of the forest sound effects. So, when they perform this song live, they use a looping machine, because even Adam can't do fake drums and fake harmonica at the same time. But if you watch vids of his "drum solos" from their live performances, you'll think that he can do just about anything else.
Welcome to the three-legged rabbit hole.

    • @marytramp5678
      @marytramp5678 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

they did it for years. they started using the loop station according to them bc i was getting to be to hard on Chance's vocal chords to do the diggerie doo vocal while doing a 2 hour show as well. But then again almost all of Adam's vocals are done on the loop station now as well. he is more like a dj than anything else. and HF has stopped being an a capella group by definition. And they sure in the heck weren't an a capella group when they used the loop station for chance's voice for the whole concert bc they didn't want to have to cancel the show again. Kind of makes yoou wonder if they aren't All lip syncing ALL their songs now. i mean they've sung all of them for years. it's not like getting the timing would be all that hard for them. had to say went from a die hard Home Fry to barely hanging on by a thread fan. especially now that their videos are computerized and tell no story or have no humor. and the songs are all such political statements. music shouldn't be a political rally, it should be fun.

React to more Home Free and their fans, a.k.a. “Home Fries” will flock to your channel. I have subscribed to your channel based solely on this reaction. I’m very appreciative of your style (no vulgarity), and I liked the fact that you recognized that there are in fact two basses in this group. Tim Foust is the one singing the main bass part in this video. Adam Chance has a beautiful baritone and sings bass when Tim has a melody lead (in one or more of his five octaves). Austin Brown was the first tenor you hear and Rob Lunquist was the next one. Adam Rupp, the Beatboxer, founded this group with his brother, Chris Rupp, who left the group to pursue a solo career, after which time Adam Chance joined Home Free. They all have beautiful voices, can all beatbox, do covers that are often better than the originals AND also have several original songs of their own. Tim, Austin and Chance each also have individual channels with solo work or collaborations with other artists. THEY DO NOT ONLY DO COUNTRY, so please react to some of their other videos. My suggestion would be for “End of the Road” by Boyz 2 Men, then an original called, “Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget”. Another one showing the diversity of their style is one called “The Butts Medley”. They have so many to choose from, it would be impossible to list them all in the perfect order for listening. I’m sure you will get lots of suggestions, and believe me when I say, there is not a bad one in the bunch! I love it all!

Welcome to the world of Home Free! They have a HUGE song catalog and a CRAZY loyal following. Prepare to be over run by home fries! This is a DEEP rabbit hole to fall into!
Home Free leans toward country, but they cover many, many genres. Everything from country to pop, gospel, classic rock, and even some of their own stuff.
They have a fantastic sense of humor which shows in a lot of their stuff.
They are perhaps not as....polished, or maybe commercial is a better description, as most of the other a cappella groups, but their camaraderie, creativity, and pure TALENT shines well above all the others. They are themselves, and don't need all the props or elaborate costumes to keep your attention.

Home Free is the real deal. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the season after Pentatonix won. They lean country but sing all genres. They can all sing and all take the lead depending on the song. Their beatboxer is incredible. He was doing the harmonica without a harmonica. He’s a master of drumming without drums and many other noises. The bass has a 5 octave range so he can sing lower than this and up in the tenor range. They sing a lot of covers but also write and sing their own songs. They are known for their harmonies. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, In the Blood, What We Ain’t Got, Brothers in Arms. Good reaction PP!😀

Home Free is the best--period. They are completely acapella and make all "instrumental" sounds themselves. Chance doing the jaw harp sound really sets the stage for this song's story. Tim's bass line completely grounds the harmonies and Adam's voice percussion simply cannot be beat. This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle just about any other genre amazingly ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
By the way, a great way to learn about their history and get to know them is to react to the videos of them competing in "The Sing Off" television show late in 2013; watching the judges' critique of each performance is very enlightening as well.

They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Robb Lundquist (beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

As great as this song is, it's the tip of the iceberg. They sing a lot of different genres, different members take lead in different songs, and while Adam Rupp is their beatboxer (yes, that was his "nomonica" with his mouth only), he sings on some songs and they all are capable of beatboxing. You'll be surprised at their versatility. Some songs are funny, some are serious...all are wonderful. And their fans (Home Fries) are fiercely loyal.

Fantastic reaction, from your fellow Canadian! Home Free in my opinion is the best 100% a cappella group! Keep pushing Home Free videos out you will be a Home Fry in no time! Band introduction: Beatboxer Adam Rupp (the human drum kit), Bass is Tim Foust (blows out speakers wit his voice), middle man in the front is high tenor Austin Brown (his voice is amazing), beard man with glasses is also tenor Rob Lundquist (he has a soul sound to his voice). The other guy in the back is baritone Adam Chance (goes by Chance, fantastic voice as well). I suggest Ring of Fire to hear Tim’s bass, End of the Road to hear Rob’s soul, One Man Band to hear Chance, there is a solo video to hear Adam Rupp. This song you saw a bit of what Austin can do! Hope this helps!

Everyone has already said it all. There are three really great a cappella groups, Home Free, VoicePlay, and Pentatonix. Each one had a preferred style of music. All of them were on the TV show, SingOff. I think, however, that Home Free is the top of the list. They can sing any type of music, R&B, Gospel, Rock and Roll, movie themes, motown, anything. Really. I don't know what kind of music you like, but here are some suggestions.
R&B: End of the Road (originally by Boyz2Men)
Rock & Roll: American Pie (with the original artist, Don McLean), Love Train
Funny: Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, Between a Rock and a Heartache,
    Harmony: Helplessly Hoping
A "you gotta move": Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up)
Actually, any song you pick, you will get your socks knocked off.
By the way, Tim Foust, the bass, sings the lowest of any of the three basses. He's off the bottom of the piano. Adam Chance (Chance) is also a bass. So yes, there are two basses in this group. The entire group can also sing in the tenor range - like the guy in the overalls. All of them can beatbox a little, too. The entire group is simply amazing.

For a little background, Home Free, Pentatonix and VoicePlay were all on a TV competition show called "Sing Off". So they all know each other and do collaborations as desired.
Home Free and PTX both won on different seasons of the show.
Please check out their cover of Johnny Cash's song "Ring Of Fire" next. They feature Avi Kaplan former Bass singer of Pentatonix in addition to Home Free's bass singer Tim Foust.
Tim and Avi both shine in this song and beatboxer Adam puts a Calypso best on it. I think you'll love it!

The song is very old and is a traditional American folk song first published by Dick Burnett, a partially blind fiddler from Kentucky. The song was originally titled "Farewell Song" in a songbook by Burnett dated to around 1913. What is amazing about this version by Home Free | Man of Constant Sorrow is that it is acapella and the musical sounds of the drums, Jew's harp, mouth harp (harmonica) and beat box are all done by two singers in the band. Watch for them.

This group is amazing in the diversity of their vocal range. Between the 5 members They have two guys that can make bass come alive, there are at least 3 or 4 that can deliver the baritone range, 4 with the Tenor II range and 3 with the Tenor I range. They sing a very wide diversity of music genre that include gospel, country, patriotic, rock n roll, blues and they are superb with their video interpretations for the songs they perform. They have well over 100 covers and also have original songs they have written too. They don't put out junk. The beat boxer Adam Rupp is an amazing artist that you will find in about 90% of their releases. Each of the singers could have a solo career in their own right. They are simply that good!!! Enjoy the rabbit hole. I discovered and started listening to them about 2 years ago and rarely listen to any other group. They keep things very interesting routinely releasing a new cover or song many times throughout the year.

It's so easy to forget that there are no instruments. The beatboxer (Adam Rupp) has won 2 world championships in beatboxing. The bass (Tim Foust) has a 5 octave range and the man singing most of it (curly hair) also sings a marvelous version of When A Man Loves A Woman. The man in the overalls (Rob Lundquist) has the most sweet, soulful voice and in their collaboration with Texas Hill he sings lead on "Dreamer". You'll fall down their rabbit hole really fast!

  • @azekel7687
    @azekel7687 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Let me introduce you to the Members of Home Free. The man with the long hair in the middle is known as Austin Brown, he's a Tenor and he can sing very high. The man with the glasses and beard on the left is named Rob Lundquist, he's also a Tenor and unlike Austin who can go really high, he can sing really delicately. The man with the long Hair on the right is Tim Foust, he's the Bass of the group and he has a 5 Octave Vocal Range, which is impressive for any male vocalist. Next is the man in the back on the left, his name is Adam Chance, or simply "Chance" is the Baritone of the group, he has a 4 Octave Vocal Range, which is also impressive for any male singer, he would sometimes make sounds in the background and he most often would take over the Bassline, when the Bass is doing his Solo, every Acapella group usually has one. Last but certainly not least is Adam Rupp, he's the Beatboxer of the group and just between you and me, out of every beatboxer I've heard he sounds closer to every instrument more so than the actual instruments.

Regarding Home Free, other commenters have touched on who is who. But if you really like bass, you should check out their Ring of Fire video. They had Avi Kaplan (former bass of Pentatonix) as a guest in that, so two very strong basses, on a Johnny Cash song. Quite good. Chance (Home Free's other bass/baritone) was not in the group at that time, though, so you'll see the founder, Chris Rupp (Adam the beatboxer's brother) instead.
I look forward to watching more of your reactions.

Out of all of the a capella groups I've seen and heard, Home Free is my favourite. And I'm not even a country fan.
VoicePlay has amazing talent and incredible arrangements, but they tend to fall back on the members' "bag of tricks" too much, IMO. Geoff hitting some impossibly low note every song may be cool, but it doesn't always fit the song. That's fine for them and what they do, because they are more showy by design. They are dramatic and theatrical, and kind of niche. Theater kids. They're a mood.
Pentatonix are also very dramatic and theatrical, but they really focus on songs and arrangements, just in a more mainstream radio way. If they were around during the MTV days, they would have dominated pop music. They really should be more popular than they are. They are the modernized version of the traditional pop vocal groups that we used to see pop up all of the time. There's just a stigma around a capella, I guess. Most people probably still think barbershop.
Home Free is all about the songs. Yes, they can be theatrical and occasionally drop a "look what I can do" moment, but the majority of what they do is based on just the song and arrangement, and they keep it pretty simple most of the time. If Tim drops a jaw-dropping bass note, it usually doesn't detract from the song. In fact, you'll see reactors not even notice sometimes because the song is the focus. They are very good at what they do, and work with amazing people. They feel the most like a cohesive, traditional band, and I like that.
