ELVIS & HIS NERVES: Steve Binder, producer-director of the '68 Comeback special told this story which took place in the dressing room right before Elvis was due to go on: Elvis was extremely nervous and he told Binder that he didn't know any of the songs, he forgot all the words, & wasn't going out there, & Binder said, "I don't care if you walk out, just say hello & then walk off, but you ARE going out." And out he came. (This song is from his 1957 film "Jailhouse Rock".)
He was away from the public eye for approx.9 yrs. being in the Army from '58-'60 then contracted to do 31 films & he wasn't sure how he would be received by the public. See "Gates of Graceland: Secrets of the '68 Special" for the story as told by Steve Binder about Elvis' return to public performing.
Are you aware your video sound is extremely low but you are very loud.

Jailhouse rock entered No 1 1957. This is from 1968 comeback special. It's called comeback because he comeback to the stage after about 29 movies thereabouts. If you want to see a cool side of Elvis try FUNNY HOW TIME SLIPS AWAY 1972 LIVE. Put in HD. Thanks Guys. 😊

Elvis was the king of rock & roll Michael Jackson was the king of pop. Please react to If I Can Dream live 1968 comeback special. This was the first time that Elvis was performing live after his seven years making movies in Hollywood. thank you

The reason for the 68 Comeback Special is because we first lost Elvis to the military for 2 years. Then, after Elvis finished his military service, we lost him again to Hollywood for about 8 whole years. He made about 38 movies during that time, but Elvis wasn't happy in Hollywood & he decided to quit Hollywood & COMEBACK to his roots in 1968. Thus, the name THE 68 COMEBACK SPECIAL. ELVIS roots was performing live on stage in front of an audience. The Comeback Special was a hit and planted ELVIS firmly back on top as an entertainer. Vegas would soon come calling.

3 Octave voice, could sing all genres rock, country blues, gospel, pop and even light opera.
Elvis had not performed live since 1960 he had movie contracts that kept him making films 2-3 a year.so the 68 Comeback TV Special was his first step back to going live across the country.
Elvis sold out every show he did from 1969 till his death in 1977.
He is one of the top 3 performers for physical record sales worldwide and has more Gold, Platinum and Multi Platinum awards than any other artist.

The '68 Comeback Special was Elvis' first live performance in front of a crowd since his Concert in 1961 in Hawaii.

When he started making movies he stopped going on tours. So the 68 Comeback Special was the start of his coming back to live audiences and cut back on making movies.

He took the world by storm in the mid 50s.then was draughted to the army for 2 years till 1960. He spent 7 years in the movies with no live performances! His 68 comeback was the best comeback of anyone ever! That's why he's still the king !

He was getting away from the movies, to live performances, He was in a rut, And this helped to propel him back. wasn't called the comeback when it first came out. it was called the singer (sewing machine) christmas special. but there are only a few christmas songs in the show.

Elvis sang a song in the movie FOLLOW THAT DREAM”, it’s the final song from the movie. The name is “Angel” and in my opinion it’s the best song from the movie. TH-cam has 2 choices one is 2:41 minutes, which is the full version from the movie.

You have a lot to learn when it comes to Elvis. If it wasn’t for Elvis, who knows how behind we still would be in music and racial culture.
Too bad Many of the younger generation assume that the hateful lies about him are true.

This is his original song from a movie he did in 56 or 57. It was in the mid 50s that he took the world by storm. There’s an actual dance video from the movie Jailhouse Rock that’s a classic. I’ll go find it and link below. Would love to see a reaction to it. It’s even in color!

Elvis was deeply religious and did a lot of beautiful gospel music, this is one that he won 3 Emmy's for. Its How Great Thou Art th-cam.com/video/9tg-dcj9w4k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qurwdgzwPHfP3zRz
I would love to see you react to more of his gospel music.. but i'm happy listening to anything by Elvis.

th-cam.com/video/KZ64T6gEdC4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aJ3x2k7liIbdoncs check this link for Trying To Get To You from this same TV special. This is pure Elvis playing guitar with some friends, two were his original bandmates, guitarist Scotty Moore and drummer DJ Fontana, who was using Scottys' guitar case as drums, beating them with drumsticks, so that's where you hear a bit of percussion. I think you need to brace yourself if you continue this Elvis journey. He's the most versatile artist you will EVER come across. Gospel and R&B was his base and he added to that with whatever influenced him
