The highest point of a wave is known as 'crest', whereas the lowest point is known as 'trough'. Electromagnetic waves can be split into a range of frequencies. This is known as the electromagnetic spectrum

Radiowave to Gamma Ray - decreasing wavelength
Radiowave to Gamma Ray - increasing frequency
Radiowave to Gamma Ray - increasing energy
According to Oersted, electromagnetic radiation is a wave that is created as a result of vibration between electric field and magnetic field.
Wavelength is the distance between crest to crest or the distance between trough to trough.
Frenquency - number of wave per second.

Electronic waves are all around us. It is just that some cannot be seen directly by the naked eye.

Waves in water and sound waves in air are two examples of mechanical waves. Mechanical waves are caused by a disturbance or vibration in matter, whether solid, gas, liquid, or plasma. Matter that waves are traveling through is called a medium. Water waves are formed by vibrations in a liquid and sound waves are formed by vibrations in a gas (air). These mechanical waves travel through a medium by causing the molecules to bump into each other, like falling dominoes transferring energy from one to the next. Sound waves cannot travel in the vacuum of space because there is no medium to transmit these mechanical waves.
