But since I didn't have a longer bit, I thought through alternatives and ended up liking the option of drilling the hole at an angle because it put the pad in a less visible spot. Installing it this way also maintained all functionality and security.
@ I understand, and the reason I’m asking is, I am one of the owners of YARDLOCK. We like when someone randomly posts about our products, but don’t want other potential customers to be miss led by incorrect instructions. Granted, your installation works for your particular gate, but others may get confused. Also, warranty is another reason we want customers to follow our detailed instructions. The way the wire runs through your post will put extra tension on it and eventually wear out or break. With continued use, it will cut a tiny groove into the post and eventually get jammed. We at YARDLOCK conducted thousands of tests and found our installation instructions to be the best way to install our product. That being said, it was a great video. All the best.
