Wir haben einen Lhasa / Shih Tzu Mix , er geht da auch nicht rein. Wenn wir aber am Meer sind geht er sofort ins Wasser 😂 vielleicht, liegt es auch an ihren kurzen Beinchen 😃
We dog-sat a shih tzu that was, shall we say, a bit clumsy. A day after we bathed it, it walked right up to our little pond and fell right in. The pool is very shallow, so no worries about drowning. I was tending to another dog and didn't realize at first what happened until I saw a white puff of hair move back and forth in the pool. The shih tzu was too short-legged to get out of the pool, so I had to pick it up and my wife gave it an impromptu shower to rinse off the grind. Then, we let both dogs play a bit in the yard while I read a book outdoors. Literally minutes later, I heard a splash! The shih tzu had fallen in...again! So I fetched it out, we gave it the 3rd bathing in 2 days, and I put spare fencing over the pool to prevent further drenching.
I Love Shih Tzu's, I have one but they absolutely cannot swim. Mine fell into a pool and sank immediately to the bottom, I jumped in to rescue her. Their noses are to close to their faces to keep their head above water without inhaling water

All the Shih Tzus I have had can swim for short distances, have to keep an eye on them though.
