It's been a dream of mine to make music and I'm finally able to get some knowledge about the production that goes into these things, and how to make all my stuff sound better. I appreciate all that you do for us, and I can't wait to show my girlfriend how much I love her through music. Already watched all of the eq and compression video while taking notes and pictures of the on-screen guides to help me later on, still gotta finish the reverb course!
I recommend these courses to all noob mixers. Because I am one, and I learned more in these multi-hour courses than I did in the 1st cupla yrs trying to wing it.
the main issue I have with my mixes and masters since I've been doing them as 2 tracks for the past year that I've been making music is the fact that they sound great on headphones, in the car and from the studio monitors but they aren't that good on my phone speaker, I'm interested if mixing and mastering with stems would solve the issue
What about mastering a whole album that has many dynamic shifts between things. if mastered by ear alone, it may feel like some tracks then end up 10lufs different, yet the quieter ones won't be heard, or that the louder ones will simply be too compressed either way. I suppose you have heavy bands with a sort of ambient interlude track for example.
What I notice on references is that any kind of heavy guitar track is peaks around 2.5k but any electronic track seems to slope more and removes energy in via area
in around 3:06:14 why he have to keep pulling down master fader ? I saw him keep pulling down when he add more plugin to it. and why he have to + gain on Mix track to +5dB ? but in 1:56:55 mix track gain is -5dB I don't get it now can anyone help ? thank you
Bro i always thought that other channels gave those quick tips and half ass tutorial of 4 minutes 8 minutes to show us that they know what they are doing and we should buy the course cause it's a lot of content to put in youtube. BUT after months on youtube i realised that lots of "pro engineers" don't give longer tutorials cause they don't know how to explain wtf they are doing and for sure they would be checked for all the BS information they give. Yall are the proof that giving long form tutorials just ensure that IF any of us decides to pay for a course, we ain't going to the 2 min TIP channel dude that don't know Sh*t and sells travis scott presets.
I have a question about the SSL G buss compression for the GLUE. I have seen throughout your compression tutorials that PUNCH settings are Slow attack, slow release. (let the transient go through) Glueing is fast attack (compressing the transient) slow release. At 2:45:15, you said that this compressor can bring both GLUE and Punch. I had a fight with my brother about this, please can you explain this contradiction. Thanks a million for your live savings tutorials.
As the official pultec instructions say, it’s useless to use “boost” and “atten” contemporary on the same frequency, so why does it happen around minute 2:13:06 ?

Do you have to set the sample rate of the mastering project to the same sample rate as the final mix file you're going to import to master, before importing the final, or can you also set if after import ? Do you need to match the sample rate for both the final mix file and the reference file, or only for the final mix file which you're going to master ?

Try to find tracks that sonically match the tone to your tracks, for example, what you want to be prominent in your track and find tracks that have the same focus. Plus it’s always good to have a few to reference from in the same style you’re aiming for. Then you can narrow it down to your taste.
a/b'ing audio without gain matching in an educational video is the equivalent of putting a picture in a dark room, then the same picture with a few slight changes in a brightly lit room which allows you to actually see all the details of the picture and asking people to judge which one is better. @@masteringcom
What about if you are doing a vintage sounding track? A track that is trying to sound like in the 1970's or 1960's. Would you limit the dynamics the same?

How did you get the bottom of your mixer in logic to be so tall with the colours?
right click on that area of the channel strip in the mix window and select the notes option so they show up.
