Zagreb's historic center is neatly divided into two parts: medieval Upper Town and Austro-Hungarian Lower Town. However the hill slope between these two parts is what is so very unique, charming and quirky. There is a cunningly hidden entrance to a World War II bomb shelter/tunnel which lies under the historic Upper Town Grič, romantic Strossmayer Walk (Promenade) which provides a wonderful view of Zagreb and is connected to main street Ilica with three different sets of steps that pass through rich greenery, a secluded playground/park and the world's shortest funicular.
