      Coach Dad,
      Thank you for the kind words sir. I'm just trying to give back to this great profession and to great coaches like yourself.

    We run a snag route by number one with a bubble behind it by number two and force the Sam into a bind. We also run a what we call a Hot route which is not what you think of as a traditional hot or red route off a blitz. Ours is the H (your Y) runs a really skinny post or "take" route right between the two safeties to force the Sam to either cover or play run. It also pulls their free hitter and ally player into coverage. We will sometimes align him attached and do the same thing vs Mike. I am going to try to install your MOR by number two with the snag route by one behind it next week and use it this year in the playoff games. We normally throw deep vs single high, but, it will work vs both in case we call our inside runs and the spin we are in good shape.

      That sounds like the old school Run and Shoot Slide concept.

      @@CoachMcKie our offense was developed by Troy Taylor and and has evolved with West Coast input from Doug Cosby and some A11 from their playbook and June Jones run and shoot and the Spread Option of Urban Myer.
      Basically we up tempo attack whatever space the Defense doesn't cover. We just don't bang our heads against the wall and try to execute any bread and butter plays. We hang our hat on executing whatever concepts you don't defend well. So a D coach can't point to any real tendency.

    Against one high, I like to go glance by R and Slant by Y. The R wins inside and pushes vertical for 7 steps and whips head inside.

    I run the RPO with 5 step Slant by R & L and 3 step by Y. I also run the seam by Y and Fin (5yard In) by flanker.

    We tie our Quick Game into the RPO’s our run game Base is Inside Zone. One of our favorite RPO’s vs. 2 High is combining the Smash Concept with the run game. We’ll run this two ways #1 will run a slant # 2 runs the Corner or #1 runs a corner and #2 runs a arrow to the sideline. We rep this combo a lot during practices to get it on point!

      +kbeatty5150 Coach,
      That's a brilliant idea. I find that I forget to call quick game during the game, but I don't when I tag it to our run game.

    Hi coach how could you block a six man front in youth football running rpos with the pulling scheme?

    I get mostly 5 man fronts Coach. Can you give me a video because we are running the same scheme?

    Hey Coach. I just stumbled across your site the other day. I love it. In our program, I'm a freshmen coach, and I'm looking at implementing some RPO principles. I really like the zone and power looks. We run a spread with various 3 by 1 and 2 by 2 alignments with a Y attached and detached. In facing our own defense, we run a 4-4 with a mix of cover three and man. How would you attack this defense?
    Will inside zone work or power work better?
    Would you run the snag and in pattern with a 2 by 2 and the stick pattern with a 3 by 1?
    We face 7-8 in the box. According to your principles, this would be an automatic pass. Which route combination would you run?
    Thanks and keep up the great work!
    Coach Swenson

    Coach,
    So for the last look, when teams spun to 1 high, what we would do is have the BS Guard pull to the FS Backer, have the FS Tackle and Guard double team the DT like you drew it, except they would combo for the Mike, and then we would have the L run a slant/snag right behind the BS Backer and read him. Thoughts?

    Coach, you mention a drill you do for the fade/out RPO. Can you talk a little more on it? Really want to find drills that help QB understand progressions, especially in the RPO stuff.. At the school I’m at, we will do post/out RPO off of counter and bang the post as we play many aggressive safety’s. Could probably do it off power as well..

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coach Bitz,
      What we do is have a coach be the linebacker and another one be a corner. I'll put two trash cans at the safety position so the quarterback knows it's two high. We will go through our normal run - in this case power - and the quarterback is keying the coach that's at linebacker. If he sits then the quarterback hands the ball off. If the coach comes hard then the quarterback will pull and find the coach who's at corner. If that coach is bailing then he throws the out. If that coach bites on the out then he throws the fade.
      It takes a little while for him to get it, but we do this starting in the spring. So by the time the season comes around he will be fine with it.

      Coach McKie,
      Thanks for the reply! Starting to look into the Air Raid pass game. We have a good offense but need to develop a better quick game. Please follow me on twitter so I can message you and talk football. I recently followed you and love the content you provide! Do you run counter?

      Coach,
      What's your Twitter handle? I have run counter in the past. This past year we didn't. I just wanted to focus on Inside Zone.

      Coach,
      My twitter handle is tBitz12 and counter is a staple of our offense. Was wondering what RPOs you did off of it. Lincoln Riley does some great stuff with counter/rpo.. especially versus Ohio state. Expanding inside zone will be big for us as well this coming year. Thanks!

    Coach, just to follow up with a comment I left on another video, are you looking to change from inside zone to a one-back power base scheme?

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Coach Phillips Coach, I'm not looking to change. I'm looking into complementing it.

      Makes sense. Love the H back stuff.

    • @CoachMcKie

      I'm starting to fall in love with it. All of the explosive offenses use a H-back. I'd be stupid not to incorporate it into our offense.

    Coach, I’m a middle school coach, and in our league we see a lot of 5-3 and 4-4 defense with cover 3 on the back end. Can you show me how we could attack this using the same concept

    • @CoachMcKie
      @CoachMcKie  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coach Grownman,
      If the defense is in a cover 3 look against you then I would be throwing quick screens all day or four verticals. Pass the ball to get them back into 2 high then you can run power down their throat.
