Good one! This is 1980. The sign on Desert Inn advertises Alcazar de Paris, a flop which played that year only. Barbary Coast is open (1979) but the south tower of MGM is not yet being built (late 1980).
Im watching these old school vegas clips, i think they would be a lot better with some old school vegas tunes, like classic elvis or sinatra in the background. IM actually watching this video, WITH Elvis Presley's Viva Las Vegas in the background, and trust me, makes the video like 5 times better.
The 70's ya ! but , that 1 car was cruising in front of the camera was definetly a 1981 Ford Thunderbird, my mom had one just like it, can tell by the rear tail lights.
I'm having a hard time compressing and 8mm film (now .avi files) I edited on final cut. The sequence always fails either through compressor or FCP export. I love this, and I am really in an 8mm vanguard in my career. I was just hoping if anyone could give me some codec tips or just tips in general to bring my 8mm film one compressed file. I was only able to break them up into smaller compressed files - via --> FCP compressor. Thanks!! And Thanks for this post!!
The IP is really a mess and should not be on the strip at all - long past it's sell-by date if it ever had one. Why are the extending it now if it's going to close next year?
I don't know. It's not that bad of a Hotel. I wouldn't pay to stay there, but I get comped for a free Hotel stay up to 5 days. It's the only hotel that our Maid bought all of us a water out of the vending machine with her own money. We complimented her on the job she was doing with our room. Most people fail to compliment the Maid, and always throw a $20 for the person registering you in. Depending on how booked they are, you can usually get a nicer view. I had the Ifel tower view at ballys

I worked as a dealer in the 70's in Vegas. Back then, you could make a lot of money just in tokes. What a great place and a great era to work.
RIP Imperial Palace 1979-2013
Wow, it seems so much more crowded now. With buildings, everywhere.
Man I would have loved to live in old Vegas as opposed to the craphole it is today....
this video is clearer than some of the newer camera's people film with.

That's one hell of a transfer. Good job.
I love this! I lived there then and boy was it great!
There's a shell station where the Waters of Bellagio are now. LOL

Funny, the Shell Gas Station right in front of Caesars...
Looks like 35mm network broadcast quality.
