People would be surprised, there's actually a lot of spell work in the Old Testament. A medieval card game wasn't part of it.

I like to use divination as a mindfulness and intention manifestation tool. I usually use it with journaling when I'm feeling disconnected. I have a mini set of d20 dice I wear in a pendant shaped like a d20 and a pocket tarot I carry in my purse. I use the pendant as a pendulum, have a chart of prompts for the dice and tarot. I also have a separate kit with Oracle decks I use as art prompts.

Great video, so well researched and presented. They Hipocrisy of some Bible passages just goes right over the heads of those who quote these passages without giving it a second thought. If we look at it logically, we KNOW that the Bible was put together from so many sources over time, and we should question the intent of the authors in History and their possible involvments in corruption, superstition with the desire to control.
God, the Oversoul, the Universal Good, the Creator, whatever you refer to as the original Creator - would not punish, judge, retaliate etc.and break His own very rules against us in any way - those passages in the Bible in which the "God" is being anything but unconditionally loving, should absolutely be seen as suspiciious and we should be sceptical at the very least.

As I understand it tarot and other forms of divination allow the querent time to reflect on their life. Wisdom and possible solutions are offered which may or may not be taken onboard by the querent. As a psychologist I see tarot as a healthy pause to reflect on life, one which may have been missed had the tarot not been invented.

      @kippi  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I completely agree, it's helped me immeasurably in seeing things from a new perspective & has been nothing but beneficial to my life. It's great to hear from a psychologist, I think the Tarot is a wonderful psychological tool 🃏⛤

@kippi Reflection and introspection are encouraged early on in psychology and counselling degree courses. Psychologists are encouraged not only to study the minds and behaviours of others but also their own reactions, assumptions and biases. For this to be possible we have to look inward.
I'm sure there are statistically significant results online outlining the benefits of divination that are proven to be reliable; worth a search on Google Scholar.
There are also significant results regarding prayer and meditation as tools to deepen our understanding of ourselves and others and also to bring people together. Your video is a very good compare and contrast study on both divination and religiosity.

Yeah, I relate to the demon possession bit. I was depressed when I started to learn tarot, then it got worse (way worse), and I had to take a several month break before continuing. For a split second, I actually believed I had opened some forbidden door or invited some evil, harmful energy, but luckily I realized that while learning tarot I enhanced my intuition and developed the ability to interpret symbols and abstract structures. And who would have thought, that's a very bad thing to do while you’re suffering from depression, I felt I was going insane

I live in Mexico and around here Catholicism generally disapproves of tarot, but I find it funny how occult and esoteric traditions in this part of the world are all scrambled up and mostly have a clear Christian flavor. I've met a lot of readers in person and on the internet, and you may find it surprising how most of them pray or use the Bible as part of their rituals and practice.

I was going to say, intention is everything, regardless if we're talking Tarot cards or turnips (see what I did there ;) or, for better sake of the argument, religion. Plus, as was mentioned by many, the bible is RIFE with things many would consider in the "other" category. I find it fascinating many Christians seem to either not know this or conveniently forget it. But regardless, what of the more accepted religious tools of worship; songs, rosary, eating those crackers, chanting, prayer or pennies from heaven. And what about other cultures who use smoke, incense, sweat lodges, fasting, silence, buildings, etc etc. Who gets the right to tell them they're wrong. Personally I believe God is the everything that ever evered and is the purest form of unconditional love that could exist & only wants us to ultimately live our best life without hurting each other ❤

Absolutely, I've always said there's as much Magick in Christianity as anywhere!
Historically I think it all boiled down to not wanting to lose control but I know many Christians who've got no issues with Ritual Magick. There's many a priest who are fascinated by the history of Paganism so I guess it comes down to the individual 🃏⛤

(Sorry for the bad english writing I am french and it is easier to understand than using it!)
I am a christian but I think that the chruch is full of sinner. No one should speak by the name of God and this is exactly what they do :/ a man cannot say yes you are all forgiven of your sins, this should be God only to choose! And this is one point of so many.
I do believe that there is good virtue in the bible and "no divination" I do understand why even if I'm a tarot user (astrology too).
You see most of people that need anwser for their futur the root is insecurities (most of the time) this is bad energy to manifest right, this is why you should have faith and believe that God (the univers) got your back. For me it's more of a warning, it is not a sin nor a commendments. For me this is indeed risky, and some people did create some kind of "addiction" to them because again their insecurities, you need to work on them and not "becoming co-dependant" of tools.
You know there is some textiles that we shouldn't wear at all, no Christian tell you you'll go to he** for this!! But in the end indeed some textil gives you some health issue it's a warning! You should know the risk of what you are manifesting with your "question" that is all (for me).

As a Christian, I read. And there are times I add scripture to my readings.
The way I see it is if I have a hammer and I use it to put up shelves or build a house, then I have used it as it was meant to be used. I have used that tool for good. If I use it to rearrange someone's intestines or add a few holes to their person, then I have used it for bad. Same tool different choices.
If you feel tarot is wrong, then it is. Don't use them. My walk with Christ is mine. If I ever get to where I feel it's wrong then I will put it away. Unttil then, I will continue to read.
And, if memory serves, wasn't the RWS deck made by a *gasp* Christian Mason?!
    *clutches pearls*

It's true Waite started out as a Catholic before joining the Golden Dawn & went on to form the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross, which incorporated elements of Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry & Christian mysticism. I think that's why there's so much Christian imagery in the RWS.
Everyone has their own way of looking at the Tarot, for me I see the cards as little mirrors that reflect different aspects of ourselves & I've found that it's entirely compatible with scripture 🃏⛤

Nobody ever went to war in the name of Tarot....same can't be said in the name of God. On a lighter note, I remember reading somewhere "refresh ye your bowels in the Lord" in the Bible. Um....ok. Tarot seems to be filled with Biblical imagery. The Judgement card seems very like the passage in one of the Corinthians about an angel blowing a trumpet and "the dead arising, just as an example.

Tarot can both be considered good and evil it really just depends on how you use it and it's actually really dangerous for women when they believe that someone loves them when they don't. But it's things like that though you could kind of consider them evil because they convince people of things that aren't true.

    • @kippi

@kippi That's how all humans work All humans only hear what they want to hear and they reject anything that they don't want to hear All humans work that way. That's why I said Tarot itself isn't evil but people kind of destroy theirselves with it by believing things that they just want to believe but aren't real. They only click on the videos that they think relate to them they only listen to the things that they want to hear That's how every human being works you only see what you want to see.

The Christian mystic Emmanuel Swedenborg stated many things about the bible, among them that the bible had been so overwritten its message had been lost. Of course, many christians now call him evil....😊

    1. Joseph did divination with a cup (and dream).
    2. Abraham rumored to do astrology.
    3. A whole system of magic is made around Solomon. The lore is he made the temple with demons (goetic magick).
    4. Jonah cast lots.
    5. Jesus basically rebuked the others for non reading the signs
    6. Revelation talks about the astrology of Jesus birth
    7. The high priest has the urim and thummim (a type of yes / no divination) that David used FOR WAR.
    8. Psalm 19:1-3 talks about astrology in a positive light
    9. Elisha does divination by having Joash fire arrows and he counts the shots
And I’m sure there is more… but let the end of the matter be simple,
“The lot is cast into the lap but it’s every decision is of the Lord” - Pr 16:33 therefore every divination (according to proverbs) is from God.
About the necromancer, so was Jesus with Lazarus 😆and he also was teleported by Satan.. could call that a warlock.. he did magic with the wine. And a ton of things forbidden by Deuteronomy.

@ bahaha ya. I was afraid of divination in the past and took me some “religious courage” to get there. Same goes for stuff like energy work. Who knows maybe someone could open a door to evil but that’s never been the case for me. Usually I find the only evil was my own bias projected into the reading aka misinterpretation lol but who knows maybe that was apart of the plan 🤷
The most extreme thing to happen during any divination practice was after using my pendulum. I was wanting to contact one of my guides or something. After the pendulum I went to the backyard to meditate as a regular practice. And I could FEEL aka sense from a distance a presence in the yard. Best way to put it is it felt like a body builder entered the chat… I was like oh crap… if this being wanted to it could walk right through me… and I kinda tried to telepath to it “only friends here….” Like don’t hurt me.. 😆 but ya all was good “he” kept his distance and respected boundaries. Half a year later I tried to reconnect to the same being. Haven’t done much more as of recent in that regard. But I had a couple other small experiences with the same being. But still I wouldn’t say anything evil. Just… 🤷 call and response?

I guess these other Christians haven’t read the Bible well enough to remember…oh…Matthew 7:3-5? They need to pull the logs hanging out of their eyes before they tell you about the speck in yours.
Did it ever occur to them that pagans were certainly around when Jesus walked the earth? He mentions pagans a few times in the Gospels. But what does he do to them? He leaves them alone, for the most part. He certainly doesn’t smite them. He criticizes them a bit because of the way they pray, if I remember right-something about reciting words over and over but not knowing what they mean? But he leaves them alone. He lets them live their lives and doesn’t get in their way. So why can’t his followers do the same thing?
Anyway. I guess that for Christians, the danger lies in getting led astray. As a priest once said to us all in a sermon during Mass one Sunday: There’s nothing wrong with, say…looking at your horoscope in the paper, as long as you don’t take it too seriously. As long as you recognize that it’s a bit of fun for you, it’s okay. The problem comes when you start to take the horoscope in the paper too seriously, to the point where it’s telling you what to do and who to be. That’s when things get problematic.
I guess he’s got a point, because you don’t want to have anyone or anything take away your personal freedom. But you could sub in anything for “the horoscope in the paper,” like: playing the lottery. Drugs. Alcohol. The giant strawberry cheesecake in the fridge. Video games. TV. Netflix. On and on. You could sub in any of those things and the message is still the same. So…?

@@kippiTrue. And this is where folks need to be properly trained when they want to get into tarot-because thanks to shows like “Agatha All Along,” people are a lot more curious about what tarot is and what it can do.
At Reddit, I’ve seen folks in the /tarot subreddit talk about tarot as if it’s the gospel truth. Putting it on a pedestal because it’s extremely accurate. I think that’s where the danger could lie-putting anything on a pedestal and regarding it as this rock-solid truth, as if it’s indestructible and infallible. And that’s just not true. But if folks aren’t trained properly, they could go down a path that isn’t healthy for them. Because what happens when their fistful of tarot cards suddenly isn’t so accurate for them after all? What happens when their cards fail them in some other way? What are they going to do then?

@ElizaHamilton1780 I always tell my friends "Tarot is not a way of life. You are in control of your life. My reading is here to help you look at things a bit differently. Take what resonates. Leave what doesn't." and so far they understand that.
There were always be those who take things too far and even blame others for their problems. But that goes deeper I suppose.
