When Nightbird composer Doug MacLeod was asked in an interview about favourite cover version's of his music he told the story of hearing Eva’s for the first time when he was driving and had to pull off the road ‘to weep.’ He went on to say I think she did a phenomenal job. My regret is that I never got a chance to meet her. I always wanted to know how she could interpret it, because that song was about a prostitute that was good to me when I was younger. Not financially, but she knew I had no business being on the street. She took me in and gave me an education, so I wrote that song for her. When I heard Eva Cassidy do it, I just, I said … (silence). Now I tell people: “If you want to hear the definitive version of that song, you have to listen to Eva Cassidy!”
This angelic voice - since 1996 actually an Angel in the Lord's Choir ..... was once among us here on our earthly plane - ALWAYS in the middle of the note .... as flawlessly nailing every lyric with natural effortless sounds as if her very breathing had to include it ..... and our ears welcome it with envy, admiration and complete satisfaction ! Miss her so. God blessed and farewell !
