I've sailed twice in Greece. First time in the Ionian Islands, second time from Athens down to Nafplio. I can vouch for Bobby here as it was one of the best holidays ever. That medditerranean sun, that gorgeous sea, the food and the tavernas by the sea.......magical. Greece is raw but magical. I remember not wanting to come home.
My most memorable vacation ever was on *Sifnos.* Over a generation ago my gf and I bought one-way unspecified flights to Athens, stayed in a brothel in Pireus (the sign said hostal but it was a shady place, haha) and then the ferry to Sifnos. By 'accident' we found Vathi, a small town (then w/only 2 permanent inhabitants during winter months), and only accessible by boat as it's located in a secluded bay. The Doodles passed it on their way to Kamares. Now it has 5* spas, but I recommend the apartment complex Sifnos Living all the way to the west. There you grab plenty wine, your mattresses, and sleep on the roof.
I was in Paros, Greece, in 1984! Nice to see that things haven't charged much. I do remember the water was much cooler than I expected but I enjoyed the casual ways over restaurants and shops.

That muddy rain is quite common here when we have very high upper level winds. They tend to bring up sand from the Sahara and drop it down on the islands and then the mainland. Here in Crete we have been hit at least five times with the "African dust", not fun clearing off six balconies around the house let alone a SV under way.
Really nice ports you're visiting. Water is so clear. Temps look pretty cool still. I know Greece in the summer gets stupid hot. Love the traditional greek music you put in the video.
If you have a chance to visit Kythera Island. See if you can find the spot where the AntiKythera clock was found. It is the first computer the Greeks used to chart the stars, the sky, and galaxies.

A friend of ours is selling their restaurant and moving to Corfu this summer and want to buy a boat, so I told them about Navigare and they will be looking into it.
On the few sailing trips on which I have been a participant in the Norfolk, Virginia area of the Chesapeake Bay, leaving the bumpers out was called, "Leaving your fly down." But the captain may have been pulling our leg. He was a bit of a jokester.
