Your thoughts are focused on how best to fulfill the quest you've set upon, and you ignore all else. That is, until you hear a commotion in the distance. Seems like one of those foolish humans was caught by one of the many traps laid out around the forest. Against your better judgment, you decide to investigate...

My favorite way to imagine this, is to fast forward two weeks later, and we found the wedding band. We toss it at him and say "I think I found something for you"
(A dragon roars and flies over the city)
"Anyway, I got a flight to catch. See ya"
You run off into the forest, and he follows. You stop at a cliff, look around. You hear another dragon roar. Wings sprout from your back, and you turn around. You lock eyes. You smirk and wink at him. "I didn't think you liked me that much." You fall backwards off the cliff. He panics, and leans over the edge. You fly up and startle this living shit outta him. Then a very large group of smaller dragons then the first comes following the previous dragon. You join the group, and fly over the horizon.
