That’s the Pep’s effect for you. City fans are used to 5,6,7-nil score lines that they partially blame the team if they win 2-1 or other slim margins. Remember City worst run late last year 2024; where some section of the fans even booed the team due to consecutive 9-10 defeats. This is just the fallacy of success, it ingrains people to think that success is given not achieved.
I think it's true, but it's probably more obvious to German fans because they come from a totally different fan culture. Argentinian and German fans are something else. (Probably Turkish and Greek fans too, but I've never been to those countries, lol).
Hello. I am Turkish and a Fenerbahçe fan. Turkish and Greek fans are far better in creating crazy atmospheres compared to German and Italian fans. Germans and Italians are much better when it comes to consistent support in all conditions, but if we are talking about wild atmospheres, Turkish and Greek fans are the best at it. In my opinion, we are the best at this when our teams are successful. For example, in 2017, during a Champions League group stage match between Beşiktaş and Leipzig, a noise record was broken at Beşiktaş’s home stadium. Leipzig player Timo Werner wanted to leave the pitch due to the noise and actually did so in the first half. Six years later, Beşiktaş experienced a significant decline on the pitch due to management issues, and after suffering terrible defeats, the number of fans buying tickets dropped drastically. A similar situation applies to my team, Fenerbahçe. We have a much more loyal fan base, but since we haven’t won the league title for 10 years, even though we can still create that electric atmosphere, once we fall behind in a game, we tend to lose that energy quickly. Ten years ago, Russian teams were afraid to come and play at our stadium. The same goes for Trabzonspor. In the 2021-22 season, after Trabzonspor won the league title, their celebration video was watched by millions. However, after that championship, the team started performing poorly, and this season, there has been a significant drop in the number of fans attending their games, even though Trabzonspor fans are considered one of the most passionate groups. If you want to experience that famous Turkish atmosphere, I recommend attending a Galatasaray match. Since they are currently the most successful team, they still manage to maintain that intense atmosphere easily. To sum it up, Turkish fans are much more passionate, but they are not blindly loyal supporters. This is a country where people have literally shot each other over football. Three months ago, a former national player, who is now a football commentator, was shot in the legs three times. Clubs like Liverpool, Milan, and Dortmund manage to fill their stadiums even after decades of poor results, but they can’t create the kind of atmosphere we have. On the other hand, we always manage to create that electric atmosphere, but we don’t offer consistent support. As for Greek clubs, the only team I’ve seen that can rival Turkish teams in this regard is PAOK. Let me explain the state of Turkish football. The country has become so polarized over football that not only fan groups, but also the general public, politicians, businessmen, and sports officials constantly clash within the quadrangle of Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor. In Turkey, football is something that can change election results and even cause a national-level internal crisis. The combined fan base of Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş alone is at least 65 million people within the country, and at least 10 million of them are hardcore supporters who can do anything for their club. Just 9 years ago, the entire Fenerbahçe team almost lost their lives when their bus was shot by Trabzon fans after Trabzonspor- Fenerbahçe match at in a mountainous area at Trabzon. The perpetrators were supposedly never found, but after the suspects were released, they were declared heroes by people in Trabzon. Moreover, Ahmet Çakar, one of the best Turkish referees of all time - who officiated a UEFA Europa League final and numerous international matches, and is also a doctor - was shot five times years ago. According to serious allegations, the mastermind behind the attack was a former Fenerbahçe president. Don’t worry, he survived and went on to become perhaps the most famous football commentator in Turkey (especially known for his trolling and showmanship). On top of that, politics and football are deeply intertwined. Moreover, fan groups themselves can directly get involved in political events. In short, football in Turkey is a completely different and much larger phenomenon.
You are a true fan, congratulations sir. Any club's supporters that do not get behind the team and will them on at every moment while they are in the stadium are not true fans
In Indonesia we have shitty teams playing against shitty teams in a shitty stadium and the atmosphere is insane. The rivalry between local teams can run so deep that the fans even war on each other outside.
They banned our ultras and replaced them with fans who promised to stay ‘civil’. most fans who go to the bernabeu are tourists, and a lot of the time you will see much older individuals.(going off of the 4 times I’ve been to the Bernabeu) The supporting culture in Spain is just very different to other countries. What I noticed in my visits to the bernabeu is that a lot of the fans are too scared to join in on the chants. In particular, I was sat next to a kid who was with his mom (I think) and his sister, and I could hear the kid singing the chants under his breath. I told him in a joking way “cantalo mas fuerte chico” he just laughed. I’ve seen it with lots of adults as well. In general though, matchdays at the Bernabeu are a lot more louder compared to a match day vs Betis, Valladolid and Celta Vigo for example. The loudest fixture I’ve been to was the Madrid derby.
Also some other points are ticket pricing (pretty self explanatory). Also, In Spain alcohol isn’t sold in stadiums. Although some fans will have their fair share of alcohol before entering the stadium in a local bar or restaurant. If you guys want atmosphere, go to the Wanda. They still have their criminal Ultras.
@JS-qt9eyu just proved his point 😂 it’s so funny seeing madrid fans make fun of other clubs but you’ll never experience real joy when your team wins things because you support to win not because of a good reason
@ Proved what point u clown, Barka fans support their club cus they always try to compete with Real and think that they are 2nd biggest. In reality it’s a corrupt club with cheaters that went broke paying refs. Total Circus 🤡😂😂 Go support Arsenal if u love being sh!t
for the people who dont know, years before bernabeu was kinda crazy and they kick out the crazy fans and that might afect the atmosphere, also the fans from bernabeu have seen a lot of crazy games, some games they dont even care
@@swizaytracks8196 is true, when Florentino Pérez first CAME to Madrid he banned all ultras, beacuse they were one of the craziest fans in Spain, Barcelona did the same thing around the same year
As I tottenham fan I agree with Fiago take on stadiums. Every game in our 62000 seat stadium is you have 35,000 home fans 10,000 away fans in the home end another 10,000 away fans in the away end and 7,000 neutrals. Atmosphere is horrible.
I was born in Madrid, I am a Real Madrid fan, and this is 100% accurate. I went to the stadium very few times, because it is so expensive, but everybody in Spain know this
Real Madrid is the most popular and famous club in the world. Add that it's in the capital of Spain and this current era of globalization. It's obvious that the entire stadium is gonna be more silent than it was a few years ago, the whole stadium is gonna be full of tourists most of the time esp during the season where the games are cheaper
I remember going there for the game vs Man City “remontada” best atmosphere I’ve ever been too. The reason why the stadium is quiet when you went is because you are fan of a small team, in a small game that Madrid fans don’t care about
As a Romanian that's lived in Spain and went to the Bernabeu, this is very true. Most games are just so dispassionate. Only the big games, derby's, El Clásico's, they have very good atmosphere. But as a supporter, as a fan and as a crowd all together, you have to support your team and players no matter what. I even think that Rapid, FCSB and Dinamo have a better atmosphere. And even some of the worse teams in Romania have a better atmosphere and better supporters. That's why I am currently a Barca fan. I was really dissapointed with the atmosphere at the Bernabeu.
I am a big Real Madrid fan, and the Bernabéu fans are the most demanding fans, if the players do a good game we support them at all costs and if they are 2-3 games losing or drawing in a row we whistle, because is part of the history and greatness of Real Madrid. We won the 15 Champions last year, right after we think about the 16, and so with la Liga. Hala Madrid
Fans need to sit the fuck down and calm their ass😂😂😂 the footballers have built their career since they were toddlers. And a bunch of nobodies want to tell them they need to do better. Shut up man youre nothing. I swear. Vardrid fans are something else. They are so busy hunting glory supporting madrid that they convince themselves that they are part of madrids glory😂😂😂
Because Florentino Perez kicked out the ultras in 2014 (Ultras sur), when they were in the stadium the atmosphere was crazy. Same with Barca, but they were kicked out in the early 2000s. The Grada fans (a group that Perez organized by assembling four regular fan groups) are trash, they sometimes sit down during the match, or doesn’t even fill out the stand when Madrid don’t play well and have problems in the league, the 18/19 season spring to mind. Ultras Sur are the real ultras and hopefully one day they’ll return to the stands.
We don’t want those fascist back in Real Madrid, the reason why Florentino banned them was because of how racist and fascist they were back them, I couldn’t even go to a Madrid game in those early years and the other reason was also because of Marketing, Florentino needed to make the stadium family friendly that’s how Madrid was the only football club to surpass the €1bn euros in income.
@ 70-80% of ultras around the world is right wing, if you want to use their political views as a reason to kick them out, ultras aren’t gonna be around for long, only trash groups like Celtic or St Pauli. Perez knew fine well that they were right wing but he didn’t want to kick them until he sold out Real Madrid’s soul for marketing. So you couldn’t go to Madrid, because of a group of football ultras? Yeah right mate. At least before Bernabeu had hostile atmosphere before and for the record I could care less about their political views, they love Real Madrid and that’s all that matters.
As an Arsenal fan. We will celebrate even a small win like 2-1. Idk if its just me but I personally think Arsenal fans are very loyal, sure maybe not the best ball iq but VERY loyal fans out there.
Have you gone to an Arsenal game? Half our fans leave by the 85th minute even if we’re winning. Our fans are pathetic. If we’re losing half the stadium vanishes in seconds. And in our low point in 2020, the attendances were pathetic. And of course most fans celebrate a win, 3 points is 3 points, I’d say that’s the bare minimum and not something that puts us apart.
As a *tennis fan* and a *real madrid fan*, you do not watch tennis. Tennis crowds are one of the most respectful fans in any sport, as nearly all of them have to stay silent while rhe point is played. I have never heard a tennis fan whistle
At the Santiago Bernabéu, the spectacle is on the pitch, not in the stands; when football is top quality, noise and clowns in the stands isn't needed to admire it.
Real Madrid’s global fan base has created something different for their fans, a match against bilboa means nothing unless you’ve grown up with the Spanish culture. Now it’s all about Champions League. Seeing through Perez’s goggles, you know he has his eyes set on a $uper £eague.
The true fans “Ultras Sur” were banned from entering. Now it is more chill and/or dead on the stadium. Also, Ronaldo caused an entire generation of kids to support Real Madrid and ruin our club’s reputation, you’d see them support Al Nassr, Man Utd, Portugal and Madrid at the same time and the only thing they say is “15 ucl.” Games before the mid 2010s had crazy atmospheres at the Bernabeu.
Facts Bro im a real Madrid fan since i was little and im tierd of pepole thinking that because there are real Madrid fans that are Glory Hunters dosnt mean that there are no real fans
Also if you are Madrid fan like you claim, you SHOULD know that real Madrid isn't ONLY football. You also have basketball and there you have like half of your fans in comparison to football 😂 Because Indians don't like basketball.
The problem with Real Madrid fans: you can't talk with them about the game. The moment you criticize the performance of the team during the current season, they end the debate saying Real Madrid has 15 Champions. They don't love the game, just the trophies.
We are really lame. During the la 15 final I wasnt even that excited. I lowkey thought maybe football doesnt excite me as much anymore. We won and I was kinda happy about it, I went with the expectation to win. But then (I am spaniard) the Eurocopa came and it was magical. The whole journey and the win, as passionate as I can become. So I feel we Madrid fans we are spoiled rotten. By the way, if Madrid lost all income and went to play at 8th division I would still be a fan. I really have the white in my heart. I wouldnt watch many matches though. It would be too painful.
I don't mind quiet fans, people can be passionate and show it in different ways, not everyone has to be boisterous to be a true fan, however I do fucking hate fans who leave early. I try not to miss a minute a season and the amount of people who leave early pisses me off.
Agreed! Most people in the stadiums are tourists 🤣🤣🤣 In the UK, most people in the stadiums are season ticket holders, passed down from at least one generation.
Nah Spurs is 19th on that list, and we don't expect crap from our team. Our stadium is no longer a stadium its literally to have fun and a day out. After losing against Liverpool everyone was just laughing and having a good time. For example (could pick any team), Crystal Palace and West Ham actually feels like a stadium, where you actually feel the tension from the fans.
@@davo001 i feel like the smaller club fans have more passion and that spirit yk, but i firmly believe that Real Madrid fans have very high expectation about their team obviously because they're the best club itw and i have to say that we have a lot of glory hunter fans who blames players and coach as soon as we lose one or two games.
@@recleretheninja3575whats wrong with saying we?? The supporters who pay for the tickets, buy merchandise and watch matches support the club in some form. There is nothing wrong in using " we"
@avichal1054 if you watch the team in the stadium then MAYBE you can say "we" But if your not doing anything to the club and say "we",your ass didn't do nothing to say that
As a barca fan tbh this is expected out of a club like madrid. Most of their fans are glory hunters there to win but a good proportion of their fanbase are true fans so while the atmosphere might be dead they still have some loyal fans (same can be said for any club with bad atmosphere really especially english clubs)

I mean, yeah, that's part of how Madrid became the greatest club in the world. If the fans would go wild every time Madrid win a random La Liga match, the standards would drop
The thing with the Real Madrid fans is that we're only hyped by more "important" games, plus, there's way too many tourists and families with small children and babies. Those turn the whole thing down
I dont know, but ig every big club like Barca, Madrid and Bayern do not tolerate poor performances. The atmosphere is pretty tough for a newbie at such clubs. Probably we Madrid fans need a domanine detox session, we have seen such crazy games that normal league games dont even excite that much.
Pretty sure, Barca and Bayern have crazy atmosphere, especially bayern in Germany. Also just because you have seen crazy games shouldn't mean that you shouldn't wish for normal matches. It's like saying, I have seen cr7 play at rma so now i can't appreciate vini.

@@VikplaZz You are speaking about right now. I literally watched their last home match in a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL and they were quieter than a gay parade. Calling them ultras is an overstatement as they would get destroyed by a random group of children from the east
I’ve always felt I can’t take someone seriously if they are a Real Madrid fan. Every player wants to join them and they win most games. Being a fan is supporting your team though the tough times and the most adversity about being a Madrid fan is that your favorite player didn’t win a ballon dor . They are too big to fail that gets boring after a while.
As a lifelong Madrid fan i 100% agree real madrid is too big if a club and when i went to Bernabéu i was so disappointed because i was the only one singing and chanting in my section they only cheered when a goal or a foul happen 😢 to mamy tourist I believe
Madrid fans don’t support the club because of love or loyalty, they support the club because of selfishness. They want to be associated with the best, they want an entertaining spectacle. Granted, we are all selfish to some extent, but you can see it in the way the club is run. They expect the UCL to belong to them and feel self-entitled.
@@victorbardan215he has a point. Most madrid fans seem to be entitled to win. Against barca they were acting like it was all the refs fault, when in reality with the help of VAR or not, they aint better than barca Madrid fans also are there for success and never really “support” their team during games. During the UCL final, dortmund fans were chanting and cheering the whole game, while madrid fans just seemed their to be entertained and watch their team win
This is done by design. Florentino got rid of all the problematic ultras. Made it a tourist attraction. The only thing controlling atmosphere is stadium security.
In general, if I meet someone who is not from Madrid and with little to no connection to Spain and who claims to be a Real Madrid fan, I dismiss them as someone with only a passing interest in football. Modern day TV-fans and nothing more.
RM ultras were kicked out of the stadium in 2014, before that the crowd was incredible. It is not a Matter of fans, is a Matter of club policies which have kicked radical fans out.
Have never been but I’ve heard this from multiple fans who have went. I’d still like to see for myself but the exceptionalism instilled in Madrid fans is no surprise.
It’s makes mores sense than German fans. They support teams that even the owners of the club don’t give shit about their success. They just sell all their good players for cash
It's definitely true that big stadium does not equal good atmosphere. I've been to some games in some pretty tiny stadiums but the fans are so great it more than makes up for it.
I went to bernabeau last season for La Liga Match againts Valencia, they won 5-1 but i swear the atmosphare is totally death compared when I go to little bit "town club" like Bilbao or Sociedad.
Madrid fans are the perfect example of what happens when you create a nature of entitlement, their whole club revolves around winning the champions league so they show up to that more than anything else, but in league games they expect their team to win even against the small teams so there’s less of a support for that but if they lose then the fans get “angry” makes me actually appreciate atleti fans because they’re with their club through thick and thin
It's like city fans only support them when they're doing well, go to a championship game at either Leeds or Sunderland and that's an atmosphere, or go to Liverpool for a derby against everton
BVB and HSV have the most overated atmospheres. Espacially the yellow wall, the only ones singing are a small circle in the center of the yellow wall. The rest just stands there
The issue is in La Liga. Each club banned their radical fans like Barça did with Boixes Noise and RM with Ultra Sur which was literally the south end of the Bernabeu. Then La Liga lost a huge part of their atmosphere in their stadiums. It was the anti radical fan movement around the millenium. Now there are no more fan fights at any of the Derbies, Real Madrid - Atletico Celta Vigo - Deportivo Athletic Bilbao - Real Sociedad Sevilla - Real Betis Barça - Espanyol Valencia - Levante Barça - Real Madrid Real Madrid - Bilbao It was fantastic to stop the pre game and after game fights. But it seriously killed all the amazing atmospheres in all stadiums of Spain.
@Edie1ne Yes im aware. Im just saying the atmosphere died when each club lost the thousands of fans in these sections. The groups were thousands of fans but only several hundred of them had criminal backrounds. It wasnt dealt with properly they should of banned just the people that had criminal backrounds so criminal history instead of every single member of these factions. The ultras are all banned for over 2 decades now almost. Since Florentino took over at RM at the millenium. I use to go in the 90's, went to Sevilla & Real Betis the atmosphere was absolute fire. Same for Espanyol - Barça and same for Atletico - RM i mean all the games i mentioned above. They all are now dead atmosphere stadiums. Because those sections would fire up the entire stadiums.
It seems to be different in Spain. They're respectfully quiet until someone gets close to either goal, or someone scores or gets controversially carded or fouled
This quiet atmosphere only happens at Bernabéu. San Mamés and Anoeta have big crowds, the atmosphere great. Camp Nou and Metropolitano have the "ultras" that encourage fans to sing, jump and became part of game. Sevilla FC have recently copied BVB Dortmund with their Yellow Wall. All the north stand of the Sánchez Pizjuán is reserved to Biris.
As a Madrid fan....... I can agree people watch football games with me and I'm just serious and focused on the game and only react to very specific moves or goals as usual. But for the most I don't cheer on, just clap 😂😂😂 maybe we are tennis fans....
When you are a fan of big club like Madrid winning against clubs like Bilbao is expected and crowd will only go crazy if they lose. Madrid fans have big expectations every season because they won everything and they expect to keep winning won't go crazy over a win in la liga Bilbao game 😅
I'm from USA and you are describing Boston, Philly, and NY fans. If the team sucks it's dead, if it's mid then people come for entertainment, then when they are good people swear they love it. Just don't go when these teams aren't winning or aren't playing big opponents. People don't show up and in any games if they lose then they get bored and boo everything. Its a city social experience, not a fan base. They are very fickle because the teams are expected to win, and if not they turn to babies. Vini is one of them.
I’m from Argentina and I believe there are not great atmospheres in Europe like in South America. I once went to Barcelona when Messi and Neymar were playing there and they never cheer, not even once. Also my dad went to a Tottenham match and told me the same thing: people did not cheer so much. Maybe I did not go to the best European stadiums.
Madrid fans are a bit tired of winning so many Champions Leagues (6 Champions Leagues in 10 years), and titles in general, that's why a game against Bilbao in the league doesn't excite them so much. Winning the league is seen as something normal and the Champions League is the goal of each year. Perhaps in the knockout matches of Champions Leagues, the atmosphere is better.

You have more ambience of Real Madrid in any local bar than in the stadium itself
Yeah but the reality is most Madrid fans are either kids or glory hunters
80% of real madrid fans are 5-12 years old kids who support the club because of 15 ucl

It’s safe to say most Real Madrid fans don’t know much about the history of the club other than its name and how many UCL’s they have.
I remember going there for the game vs Man City “remontada” best atmosphere I’ve ever been too. The reason why the stadium is quiet when you went is because you are fan of a small team, in a small game that Madrid fans don’t care about

I went to thay Bilbao game last season. I agree, not terrible but lackluster for a big stadium. Anfield is unreal.
Anfield is out of the world
As a Romanian that's lived in Spain and went to the Bernabeu, this is very true. We won the 15 Champions last year, right after we think about the 16, and so with la Liga. Hala Madrid

He kicked them out because they were facists

All big top league clubs have this issue. Too many tourists, too many people expecting a win.
Now there are no more fan fights at any of the Derbies,
Real Madrid - Atletico
Celta Vigo - Deportivo
Athletic Bilbao - Real Sociedad
Sevilla - Real Betis
Barça - Espanyol
Valencia - Levante
Barça - Real Madrid
Real Madrid - Bilbao
It was fantastic to stop the pre game and after game fights. But it seriously killed all the amazing atmospheres in all stadiums of Spain.
Dude, Atlético Ultras killed a Deportivo La Coruña fan that’s the reason La liga is trying to get rid of all Ultras in spain.
My experience with Madrid fans is they don't like football just big events an easy victories.
