so just curious on this complex, is this just a timeshare facility only for owners and there families? or can you rent from them thru like Expedia for a vacation stay? i checked it out thru expedia, and shows i can, shows nightly charge but also resort fees? can you explain a little more on that if you know? is it a one time resort fee or per night? are there fees for any of the amenities on site, pools, mini golf, the plantation house tour, etc? i see per your video that there are some supplies, like dish washing soap, laundry, should you bring your own as well? sorry for the long questions, but trying to learn more before we book or not, don't want any hidden costs and surprises. thanks
Hi Rob, we don't own a timeshare here, we book online like most people, and usually stay a few nights. The amenities (pools, gym, activities) and the supplies in the room are included, and we didn't have to pay extra, and we didn't need to bring anything either, except maybe toothbrush and toothpaste and a bigger soap. We usually get groceries from a nearby Walmart Supercenter and cook them in the resort, since they have all the utensils. The resort fee is standard in most places, I believe, regardless of whether you use the amenities or not. We also toured the historic houses on site on our own, and we didn't have to pay.
@@pvagustinthanks so much for the reply, really appreciate that. sounds like a good plan, for the money. so curious, were the resort fees per night or just one fee for your stay? just trying to figure $$$$. also did they try and get you to buy a time share? did you have to sit thru some type of 2 hour seminar to stay here? been there done that before.
@@robwinemiller9712 I remember during check-in, the lady casually mentioned something about a presentation, but she wasn't pushy at all, I think it was just part of her job to mention it. Nobody called to bug us to attend that presentation. We don't like those either lol, we've had bad experiences before with aggressive salespeople in a different resort we went to. My wife (who made this video) will answer your questions about the resort fee, since I'm not sure whether it is one time or per night.
@@pvagustin sounds great, thanks and appreciate that. thanks for the info. we are looking to possibly go in april of 2023, i saw they got bought by hilton, and making upgrades. hopefully it will be as i have been seeing and reading, seems awesome.
@Rob Winemiller, hi there! Thank you for reaching out, we are glad to be of help in our own little way. To answer your questions: 1. We don't own their timeshare and yes you can book it through their website, Expedia etc... we book it through booking.com. 2. Like other resorts, they also charge nightly resort fee per room( I think it was $26 or 28/night), it already includes wifi and parking. 3. Resort amenities like indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness gym, mini golf, tennis court and the plantation house tour were no extra charge, it's a self-tour. 4. We usually stayed in 2 bedrooms unit and they always have stackable washer and dryer with free powder detergent. 5. Kitchen is also fully equipped with dishes, pots, utensils, Pyrex, cups and glassware with dish liquid soap provided. The kitchen comes with a dishwasher with dishwasher soap too. 6. Coffee maker with coffee, tea bags, creamer and sugar were also provided. 7. Bathrooms are fully equipped with clean wash clothes and towels, small body soap, hand soap, lotion shampoos and conditioners are also provided 8. And yeah, Fridge is full size with an ice maker too😉 We love Powhatan a lot! Hope this helps and hope you join our channel, thanks for visiting and let me know if you have any more questions.
