- Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is an R&B/soul song written by Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson in 1966 for the Tamla Motown label. The composition was first successful as a 1967 hit single recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, becoming a hit again in 1970 when recorded by Diana Ross.
The way she looks at him, it's simply electric!
Yes indeed
I'd sell my soul for someone to look at me the way she looks Marvin
he looks at her the same
he was never the same
Yes yes yes!
Isn't it..wooo!
She was so pretty! And what a singer she was. She left 51 years ago today at the age of 24 and has been forever missed since. Marvin never never got over her death. She should have had a longer life and career. Tammi if this world were mine you would still be here. Marvin too!
She was physically abused by David Ruffin of the The Temptations.
What a wonderful comment 🙂💕

Hard to believe that Tammi was only 21 when she recorded this song and three years later she would be gone. 😢 Such a beautiful song. RIP Tammi and Marvin
Marvin was devastated cos she was his muse
Moose@Slayanimations
@Slayanimationshis goddess and inspiration.
She had went thru 8 surgeries for that blasted brain tumor that kept coming back. She was blind, in a wheelchair by then, all of her hair was gone. Marvin had to help her off the stage at 1 of their performances.

The chemistry between Marvin and Tammi make my cheeks blush!
They were great.
I was born in 1961 if you watched some of the stuff from the seventies on TH-cam I wouldn't think anybody would blush they had the mini skirts a lot of things they couldn't even put on TV now nothing wrong with it.... they even killed Mr Potato Head cuz there's not a gay version what the hell Dr Seuss what the Aunt Jemima she was rich. Should have kept the memory of her alive I didn't even know the whole story until they took her off the Box... what else did they do? If this makes you blush what about the mini skirts and all that I wasn't quite old enough to enjoy but I sure did love my art teacher Mrs French she taught us how to make tie dyes she was Ultra cool

@@andreyjardim2 In 1970, to be exact, after a battle with a brain tumor. She survived six or sever brain operations before the tumor came back and took her away from us.
When Tammy was dying, she went to see Marvin. They sang together. My heart cries thinking about that.
Wow.
How did she go see him if she was dying ?
@@LeapofFaith47 She died of a brain tumor, had many operations. At one point she showed signs of getting better and recorded more with Marvin. At her funeral Marvin broke down said it was all his fault. Marvin would continue his musical career, self abuse /drug abuse and finally shot to death by his father, his dying words 'it's alright, I got what I wanted'. They fell in love (on stage) Shakespeare couldn't write this story better/worst.
They lived out the words off this song.
@@LeapofFaith47 I mean, she literally died on stage in his arms.
Tammi Terrell (born Thomasina Winifred Montgomery), like Marvin Gaye, died too young. She died a month before her 25th birthday in 1970. She would be 71 today. She was involved with James Brown for two years. The relationship ended after he started hitting her. She endured eight surgeries for a brain tumor that kept coming back. At the end of her life, she was blind, confined to a wheelchair, lost her hair, and weighed 93 pounds. Her angry mother refused to let anyone from Motown attend Tammi's funeral because the label had pushed Tammi to perform, even when she had severe headaches and other symptoms of the tumor. She collapsed on stage, and Marvin helped her get offstage. Marvin was the only one from Motown allowed to attend Tammi's funeral because her mom felt he was a good friend to her daughter. Tammi was cute, talented and smart -- a pre-med major in college. To have her life cut short is tragic. R.I.P., Tammi and Marvin. You are singing together again.
Your comment was beautiful and I learned something.
Thanking you.
BearCubster You're welcome.

Two beautiful voices. Two tragic fates.

he really really loved her, we can tell because he never looked that happy again after she died...
He literally isolated himself for 3 years after she died. He had a wife the whole time, imagine how she felt with all of that.
The Dasher Dash she understood, to her credit. She was much older than Marvin, so she was the mature one.
Let us learn from this!
The Dasher Dash I also read that he isolated himself for 3 years, but I dont understand that timeframe, because Tammi died in March 1970, and Marvin releaaed ‘What’s Going On’ in May 1971, with a tour not long after.
He died 37 years ago yesterday, and today would be his 82nd birthday. Look at him! Young and handsome singing with his favorite lady! The two of them pure magic. I can't hear this song without thinking of Marvin and Tammi no matter who sings it. You both are so very missed!!!!
