I started playing like a week before the commander bans which felt good fora beginner since it lowered the ceiling and cost of competitive play but having Hasbro take over feels like the beginning of the end even for me. Nevertheless I feel the game is pretty popular right now but that can change rapidly based on the decisions the company makes which is scary, I don't think is a bad time to start playing or spend money on big cards, I think that just as EDH started as an unofficial way to play the game, the same will probably happen again(at least that's what happens when playing with friends and house rules, no?). I believe the love for the game will perdure.
To save the game I think they should remake the Three Kingdoms set and Mae it draft-able. Given that Black Myth Wukong is popular in the West and the East. But I doubt they would do it because they won’t be able to make it diverse.
Short answer - yes! If Hasbro continues this way...yes and soon...for me an my playgroup the flavour of the game dropped already a lot...
