I know here on American soaps when an established member of the cast is in contract negotiations that could go either way they write them into stories like this so if the actor doesn't resign they can kill them off (or reveal them as the killer and send them off to prison), or if the actor resigns they suddenly make a full recovery (or are proven innocent with some wildly unbelievable twist in the example of being an accused murderer). Caleb is a new character that the audience could take or leave, whereas if Cain were to die at this point I think the fans would riot. Just my opinion 🤷♀️ we'll see soon enough what plays out. Personally, I would like Caleb to either leave or get put in the ground for what he's done.
