So many guests on this channel say, "I'm going to finish this car someday" but you know they never will. This man knows everything about his cars and has the skills to do the work. Haggerty should revisit him from time to time and watch him drive each and every one of them. Great guest.
    Thank you for the post

As a former Kiwi, i can also hear his lower South Island (NZ) burr! A lot of Scottish people settled in the lower Sth Island in the 1800's and if you visit there today you can still hear their distinctive version of the Kiwi accent with a Scottish edge.😀

We need a podcast or a recurring feature with Tony and people like him - just to capture the stories he has! And also as others have already stated - to get progress on his cars. Out of all of the Barn Find episodes I have watched thus far, I really do believe that Tony is going to get to these projects, at least to some of them, and he is realistic also about his situation. And to see the actual sticker that Tom put on that toolbox over 40 years ago? Mind-blowing! Small world . . .

Fords were indeed imported into New Zealand as KDK's, or Knock Down Kits, in the 20's and up to around the 50's I think. They would be produced on the line in Windsor, Ontario (crazy how it is literally right across the river from Detroit!), disassembled again and packed into crates for shipping. They would arrive in Wellington back when Lambton Quay was actually on the waterfront. The old Ford building is still there on Courtney Place and could been seen from the old Ford (and Mazda) dealership a little further up Taranaki Street (I lived in Wellington for several years and worked briefly at this dealership, however it is no longer there with just a city service centre nearby and with car sales having moved out to the surrounding areas). The Courtney Place Ford building, or the Colonial Motor Company as they were known back then, was designed "top down", where crates of parts were unloaded directly from the ships and craned onto the top floor, assembled, and a new car would drive out on the ground floor. There is some pretty interesting history there, especially about all the reclaimed land that now makes up most of the Wellington Waterfront.

Another great story, Tom. This guy is the real deal. The rest of the story about the Model Y is that it was designed by U.S. stylist extraordinaire E.T. Gregorie. It was a relatively straightforward task to upscale it to become the domestic Ford in 1933 when Edsel asked him to do it.

For how small a population New Zealand has, it is truly amazing their contribution to Motorsport. F1 world champion Denny Hulme, Bruce McLaren (yes, the McLaren McLaren), greatest ever speedway motorcyclist Ivan Mauger, Katherine Prumm arguably the greatest ever women’s motor cross rider before 2 nasty accident cut her career short. And then there is the current Indy car quartet of Scott Dixon, Scott McLaughlin, Marcus Armstrong & Tom Blomqvist. And then there Burt Munro and a kiwi team broke the world wing assisted land speed record earlier this year. And I haven’t even mentioned their engineers, designers and team managers.
And I’m an Aussie, so hard to give our little brothers a pat on the back, but credit to them.

There’s a Kiwi in Northern California that has a fantastic barn find that was on the cover of hot rod magazines the car is called The Hawaiian. He’s restoring it he also has and works on restored vintage race cars including midgets and cars from the 50s and 60s that run the vintage car race circuit. He also has I believe a REO boat tail that’s not totally restored. He builds some fast V-8 60s that have a habit of running in up front.

Within the next 15 years it's said that the world will have it's first trillionaire, and I'll bet it's most likely going to be the man or woman who creates something super special involving autos or the transportation world. It seems that mobility goes riright alongside liberty & freedom . It's one if those special people and their innovation that will catapult their fortune into the financial stratosphere and beyond!
