  • Attami or the neck sliding movement is a salient feature of Bharatanatyam. This should be learnt by every student from the very beginning. With practise, a graceful attami can be attained by every student by the time they are ready to learn dance items.

I am surprised that Bharatanatayam is somehow related with Rahu (Imaginary) alignments check with Ketu (Imaginary) of human body.
See the beauty of the location of this demo natayam wherein the girl is somehow visible in a photoframe despite being infront of home Wall.
Look at this Natyam with one eye open and one eye closed and imagine as if you are looking at the photo of the girl, then the head would be technically moving horizontally left - right that otherwise wouldn't be that notable on grand dance floor with other backgrounds. This girl has revealed one of the secret of Rahu & Ketu illusion to the world just by performing at engineered wall. Trust me I am Rahu Mahadasha I know this.
Most of the Indian cultural activities are associated with astrological remedies and this dance has Rahu Remedies to all the observers knowingly or unknowingly.
    All the best !
By the way how kathakkali are different than BharatNatyam Maam?
    Regards,
    Abhishek Singh

Oh Wow! That's a very interesting point of view and analysis. So happy that you took the time to watch and write these words.
Kathakali & Bharatanatyam are too very different and only similarities are that both classical dance forms use Indian Mythology in their depiction. Where as Mohiniattam, Odissi, Kuchupudi etc have some similarities in the mudras, facial expressions, bodily movements and also costume & makeup :)

Mam can u tell some neck excercise during bharatnatyam

    • @nartanaschoolofdance3014
      @nartanaschoolofdance3014  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Here are some exercises which are good for neck snd spine. Don’t over do. Only up to 5 sets at a time.
      CHIN TUCK
Tilting your head down in an attempt to touch your chest with chin only using your neck, not bending your spine. Keep this posture for 15 seconds and then relax. Now look up to the sky and maintain this position for 15 seconds.
      HEAD TILTS
Tilting your had towards left side in an attempt to touch your shoulder with left ear. Keep this position for 15 seconds and return to your main position . Relax. Now again repeat the same step towards your right.
      Repeat the set 5 times.
      NECK ROTATION
Neck rotation looses cervical spine which can cause stiffness. Move your neck towards your left so your chin is aligned with your left shoulder and your eyes are looking straight. Like drawing a U shape from one side to the other. Maintain this posture for few seconds then moving to the other side. Perform this up to 5 times in each direction.
