as someone who works in the pet care industry, given that y’all _still_ haven’t fully unpacked everything, I don’t think it would be the best idea to bring a pet home-not yet, at least. My advice is to do some research into 1) what type of pet yall would agree to, 2) which breed (if dog or cat) would best suit y’all’s lifestyle since each is different, and 3) consider the costs of owning one (like vaccinations, vet bills, toys, food, etc.). While I think it’s wonderful y’all want to find a pet their forever home, perhaps take some time to think about it :)
**Edit: just to clarify, it’s not just because they’re not fully unpacked yet. Adopting a pet is a huge responsibility, especially when you live with multiple people. Nick & the others will have to accommodate the pet’s needs-whether that means reducing stress in its environment or having to spend a little extra time with grooming (some dog/cat coats are high-maintenance & thus require professional grooming, which is pricey). Idk just thought I’d clear things up :)

Having a cat would be awesome! Just need to consider: costs, enviroment and all that stuff. Have 3 cats my self (13 years this year) and they can be a handul, however, they're wonderful and apart of the family.
If you do, I suggest getting a bunch of different toys along with a scratch pole (to make sure they don't mess up any furniture and/or carpets). One thing my cats love personally are their dangler toy (which is basically a toy on a stick, since they're getting older they stay inside more and love to play with it to keep more active. A cat tower is a good suggestion since it can give them different elevations and places to sleep and play (along with being able to scrath them since they usually have fitted scratch pole.
They can be expensive (e.g. vet bills and vaccinations) so it's best to see how expensive it can get, same with any conditions the cat may have.
On enviroment, best to make sure to see if the cat can stay inside or be able to go outside, get a litter box (make sure it isn't any litter that's really fine because it can cause breathing problems along with a huge mess) along with a litter freshner since it can stink up the entire place. Along with making sure the house is safe! When my cats were kittens they tried to eat anything and everything (along with trying to get to place they aren't allowed in) so it's best to ensure that they're being watched along with everything put into a safe place. Along with that, I do suggest trying to train the cat to not jump onto counters and stuff like that.
(From what I know) Since you guys aren't fully unpacked, make sure that's all done before you consider picking up/getting a cat since they will need a welcoming enviroment to get used to.
Final thing, I suggest finding a kitten to adopt (e.g. catteries or places that are for rehoming) since there's a lot being put into them and it would be nice for one to get another chance :).

This is some advice for a cat since it's reached 100k likes
1. it is a big responsibility, so think it over and really decide if you guys actually want one.
2. When you first get one it will be very nervous about being in a new environment and will probably hide somewhere like underneath a table or bed for the first few days, do not try to be super affectionate towards it yet, just leave food for it and let it come out when it wants to.
3. Separate their food and drink in different rooms, it sounds weird but they prefer it that way.
4. Make sure to play with them a lot so that they get exercise
5. Do a lot of research, what I say here isn't that much and if you do a lot of research on your own and take notes you'll be much better off.
Cats are awesome. But only get one if you can actually care for it, but im sure you can :)
