  • In Salesforce, a test class is a piece of code that verifies that a particular piece of code is working correctly. Test classes are an important part of the Salesforce development process because they allow developers to ensure that their code is working as intended and that it will not cause any problems in the production environment.
There are a few principles that should be followed when writing test classes in Salesforce:
Test classes should be comprehensive: Test classes should cover as many scenarios as possible to ensure that the code is working correctly under different conditions.
Test classes should be independent: Test classes should not rely on any external data or other code that could affect their results.
Test classes should be repeatable: Test classes should produce the same results each time they are run, regardless of when or where they are run.
Test classes should be automated: Test classes should be able to run automatically without any manual intervention.
Test classes should be well-documented: Test classes should be documented clearly and concisely so that other developers can understand what they are doing and how they are being used.
By following these principles, developers can create test classes that are reliable, efficient, and easy to maintain, which helps to ensure that their code is working correctly and is ready for deployment to the production environment.

One more important part is writing unit tests not integration tests.
I see a lot of big orgs write dmls in their test classes and then it takes 1 whole day for deployment validation in production.
