I tried several aftermarket antennas as I wanted to replace antenna rod with shark fin antenna and I measured real signal gain of all bands (AM/FM/DAB+) and documented it. Measured results are undeniable, none of 6 aftermarket antennas was better than simple 15cm long OEM antenna rod which came installed by a car manufacturer. All aftermarket antenna replacements advertised online are just sale attempts / marketing and just a big bubble of nice "wish to have" miracle features. Remember, the best antenna will always be the antenna itself i.e. antenna rod of λ/4 or λ/2 wavelength. Antenna amplifier will never be able to amplify missing radio signal as it gets amplified with a noise as well.
Had these guys fit a Shark Fin to my T6 (nearly £400 fitted!) and the DAB is still crap despite returning the van and them finding ‘nothing wrong’…. Still lose main FM (R2) too!…😠
Generally speaking there fitted at the rear as it's flat and allso reduced interference as if the antenna is over the driver area the antenna is more at risk of picking up static radiating out from the engine and electronics in the dash area etc
Installed this antenna DAB/FM version on my VW caddy as the OEM antenna was poor on my new alpine INE-W720D The sharkfin wasn't a huge improvement over OEM yes was better but not wruth the time and effort and money it cost putting it in and yes it's making a good connection to the chassis and its powers up im just putting it down to the alpine head unit receiver isn't great and the antenna isn't wonderful either Where the stock RNS510 that was replaced with the alpine unit was street's ahead on the receiver end the OEM antenna and RNS510 works extremely well together
I'm very surprised to read this. Are you 100% sure it's the same antenna? We fit an awful lot of them to lots of different vehicles and always suitably impressed by them. Had customers with more than one vehicle that we have installed into for the same reasons.
You are right…I had these guys fit a shark fin to the roof of my VW T6 (nearly £400 fitted!)..and the FM is no better than the stock Ariel located in door mirror and DAB is even worse!…. ☹️
Roughly how much space do you need inside the vehicle, between the lining and the roof? Deadening my roof soon, and while the lining's out it'd be an ideal time to finally get a decent DAB signal.
My t6 dab was ok ish until if fitted drls in the grill,,,,, drls now block the dab signal to the point had to disconnect them only worked 30/40% of the time! Will the shark fin work with the drls 're connected? Or will they still block the dab signal ??
Yes a lot of aftermarket LEDs cause too much interference. The Shark-Fin would be a marked improvement for certain BUT we have never tested on a vehicle with LED / Signal issues
It in theory would work try keep the earth as short as possible I recommend not trying this antenna maybe buy a cheap rod antenna or get one from a scrap yard and try it before drilling any thing see what it work like just hook it up roughly
Cool. In that case you may need to grab some adaptors. Check out the listing and see what the FM / DAB terminates to and then match that up with your OEM system.
Hi guys I've been struggling with strong signal for my dab .. I have factory OEM dab receiver and antenna on rear quarter drivers side soldered to correct contact points on the glass .. but signal is poorish so I decided to fit a new antenna from a later model A6 (2015 model) but still the same . So I woundering if I change my shark fin to one of yours with dab as my shark fine doesn't have dab .. would I see an improvement with signal compaired to using the factory rear quarter glass .. sorry my car is an Audi A6 c6 2008

Is it available to read anywhere?
I already have a shark fin aerial on my 2015 E Class but reception is rubbish. I assume that it is original. Is this aerial better?

Are these the co star aerial? They look identical going off the schematic.
Hi,can i ask why fitted it was fitted at the rear of van ?can it be fitted above front set on the roof?.Regards Barry

Will this antena fit peguot 208 dab/fm/am radio

Hi Simon!
If you follow the link in the description it has a tech diagram with all the dimensions etc which might help you out :)
How much for this antenna on a mercades tourer 114 w447 supplied fitted?
All the info is here - www.advanced-incar.co.uk/products/digital-radio-dab/sharkfin-dab-fm-antenna/

@@AdvancedInCarTechnologies just seen where you are based, pity not closer to Derbyshire as mine could have been the tester 😣
Could this be fitted to a fixed fibre glass roof if I add an earth wire from the chassis earth nut to the metal crossmember?
It in theory would work try keep the earth as short as possible I recommend not trying this antenna maybe buy a cheap rod antenna or get one from a scrap yard and try it before drilling any thing see what it work like just hook it up roughly
Will this work on a 2011 Mini Countryman? To replace an outdoor antenna.
It's a Universal product so should fit any vehicle within reason.
Can you install on a peugeot partner 2019?
Yeah it’s a universal product. The only thing it depends on is if you are installing into a Genuine or Aftermarket as you may need adaptor cables.
Advanced In-Car Technologies its an original system just was it was from the factory

Thanks for this .
Always welcome
