    An Amarok, or Amaroq, is a gigantic wolf in Inuit mythology, said to stalk and devour any person foolish enough to hunt alone at night. Unlike wolves who hunt in packs, amaroks hunt alone. Writing in the 19th century, Danish geologist and Greenlandic scholar Hinrich Johannes Rink reported that the Greenlandic Inuit reserve the word Amarok exclusively for this legendary wolf, whereas other Arctic peoples use it to refer to any wolf.

    Its probably the best playing and sounding guitar ive picked up in a long time. Ive bought 7 guitars that cost twice as much in the last 2 years and its got a ease of playability that surpasses all of them and never ending sustain. I Highly recommend any Harley Benton If made in Indonesia.

      Just got the red SC custom plus with the emgs. Sounds great, looks amazing. Fit and finish are quite high for the price. Not quite at the level of, say, a prs se custom, but still quite good. @@JohnDoe-qz9ji Schecter Demon 6 IS AMAZING for the price! However, this Harley does have some advantages. It has ebony fretboard, and neck thru. And don't let the battery aspect ruin active pick ups for you. You actually almost never need to change it. You only have to change the battery once every 1-3 years, depending how much you play. A lot of people just change the battery, whenever they change strings.

    • @9hk38f
      @9hk38f 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please do not put Schecter in the same boat as ESP/LTD! Schecter is not Harley cheap, but they also have guitars, of much higher quality, then any Harley out there. Thomann, the retailer that owns this house brand is in my opinion, likely selling these guitars at a price that covers only costs and expenses in an attempt to build this brand, since their main business which is online retail sales is where they make their profit. The problem here is that if they are selling a guitar that's as good or nearly as good as a higher end Squier, Epiphone, PRS SE but at a cheaper price point, then the other companies will lower their price point to compete, but will likely also have to lower their quality because they can't sell a guitar at cost. Thus, while these Harley Benton guitars may be a benefit to the consumer in the short term, it may hurt the quality of the entire lower end guitar market in the long term due to everybody lowering price and by proxy, quality in order to compete.

    • @aliengrey6052

    • @bozeeke
      @bozeeke 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vividvulpe9842 yeah they are clearly undercutting the lower and middle end of the market to build a brand name and if it becomes popular enough, it's gonna hurt the entire market and therefore the consumer. Your $500 Epiphone for example, will either be improved in quality but now cost $1000 or reduced in price to $300 but will be a crap guitar in response. Either scenario is bad particularly because all of the other brands will have to take similar actions because they can't sell a guitar at cost either. Then HB themselves will also go up because this low price point is just to get their name out there. In the end it means no (or at least way fewer) moderate priced, affordable but good bang for your buck guitars for the buyer. Disaster waiting to happen.

    Harley IBentonez? With the $ down on the euro and shipping being the issue it still is I lost interest in the HB line. The price advantage is not what it was when the $ was in better shape against the Euro.I had 3 HB's get caught up in the shipping fiasco last summer. Took 52 days to arrive. One box was so tattered when it arrived it fell open coming in the door spilling out some loose items. Pure luck only one guitar had shipping damage .I hope things are better now that DHL is sidelined. I read DHL went to shipping by Ocean containers due tot he airline problems. The $ is still down about 15% from what it was last spring. The$ may never recover in value. I fear higher shipping costs and the low value of the $ will limit interest in the brand over what we could get a year ago. The good old days..

      @SFBGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The biggest strength of active pickups is a much lower noise floor. The low powered magnets aren't susceptible to interference as much as the relatively stronger passive magnets. They also claim higher sustain because of less magnetic pull on the strings, but that's probably negligible.

    I got an Amarok last summer and it was the biggest hunk of shit I have ever played. Calling it a B-stock is too good for it. Crooked tuners, pot metal knock off Grover (barely) locking "tuners", stripped bridge screws, misaligned and poorly cut nut, shitty active pickups. And they advertise a TUSQ, but it did not come with one. That shit was plastic.
    And Steve, that's a Foto Flame. Looks closely.
    Lovingly Xeroxed.
    And thanks to Mrs. Floria Stroccia at Thomann for ensuring that I won't even buy picks from them ever again.
    Unless they changed factories, those Amarok's are made by the same shart-gargling fuk-abouts that have soured the Solar name and Chapman's.... well... Thomann had to pull the ENTIRE line if Amarok's because they were ALL defective.

    Amarok - 1990 album from Michael Oldfield. Probably should have been called Tubular Bells 3 - it revisited a lot of the same themes and transitions. It is presented as one piece of music. And the Margaret Thatcher ending is .... special

    It looks good, it sounds good, but it's Thomann.
    And Thomann is pretty much the reason why so many small shops are closing :(

    Let’s get real af here. If you buy a mid range Ibanez rga for £300 ish more than this you’re just buying the name. Because there’s no difference lol.

    There is nothing like branded parts to make people feel good about spending more money and believe in extra quality before they even touched the thing. To me, that selling trick is a good reason to stay away from a guitar.

      The Amarok is a highly spec'd guitar and delivers. I have the same one that is demonstrated here. It is similarly appointed to the Jericho NT 6 Elite that I have and plays about the same. Both have NT construction, SS frets, nice pickups. Just a good deal. Do you own one? I suspect, based on your comments, that the (honest) answer is a definitive "NO".

    • @Leo_ofRedKeep
      @Leo_ofRedKeep 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRealBobbyBoogie I have higher spec'ed guitars. I know it is mostly a trick to make the gullible feel good about spending money.

    • @TheRealBobbyBoogie
      @TheRealBobbyBoogie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Leo_ofRedKeep And your answer (as expected) is 'no'. I have both, an Amarok and many 'higher spec'd' guitars; you do not.
      Take my (educated) advice and accept that this is a really decent guitar and not just for the gullible. Seems like you're trying to rationalize you high-cost purchase by criticizing those who paid less and got more. Ouch baby, very ouch!
