Etho, you have to keep the shield as low as possible to produce more power (it explodes when it hits zero). You can pull a Redstone signal for the shield and use that to set high and low for the RF gates. The shield of the draconic reactor can literally take infinite RF/tick since rf need increases exponentially, so you also use less power with the shield lower.

yea but even if he combines all of the stuff that he has now hes nowhere near 10bill.. he maybe is at 100 mill so the best thing to do would be to find a good source of energy and spam it... like the draconic reactor which can go far beyond 10mill and can actually do 2 trillion rf per tick

Etho, the maximum amount of power from a Draconic Evolution Reactor goes up over time. You are only supposed to start really adjusting it for power once you see the heat of the reactor start to drop. Fuel efficiency will be worse at the lower temperatures, though. You have to increase power outputs SLOWLY, not in the massive jumps you make.
At first I thought you should look into doing something with Big Reactors but I found that a basic checkerboard pattern in your max sized reactor and just using liquid ender, flowing downward to keep the build simple. Based on the online simulator that pattern will generate ~1,854,590 rf/t. I took it upon myself to install the pack just to look at the configs. Which it appears to be a 12x multiplier, so that 1,854,590 would become 22,255,080 rf/t. Big Reactor Turbines have a 24x multiplier, which I believe the max power per turbine is 28,000 rf/t by default so that would be 672,000 rf/t per. You would need over 14,880 of them which block to block power generation that is not that great compared to those nether star x64 generators or 13x13 chunk of non-upgraded solar panels.
Don't worry about the time it takes to make videos Etho, they're always worth the wait! Plus, I can keep my snacks cold if I keep them in my mini-fridge.
For the 10 billion RF, I'd recommend using a max sized Big Reactor paired with a max sized steam turbine from the same mod. While I don't personally know the best (most efficient) way to do this, there should be plenty of tutorials online (Extreme Reactors is the same as Big Reactors). While I doubt that this will get you to 10 billion, it would certainly be more interesting to watch than you placing a bunch of solar panels.

Etho, gasses are fluids, liquids are fluids too. Both states of matter can be referred to as fluids! Fluid just means: a substance that has no fixed shape and yields easily to external pressure; a gas or (especially) a liquid.
Extreme reactor Turbines seem to achieve multiple times the base reactor from what I've experienced. And optimized reactor can spin multiple turbines at a time. It helps that the steam turns to water, so there's a closed loop and water is only an issue at the start. Though, the max base reactor makes about 2m~ RF/T, and a max turbine does 20k~. Meaning you'll need 200+ max sized turbines to use up all the steam a max reactor can make. Basically taking up all the space the solar would use anyway.
crisis8v88 Buildcraft has a fluid pump that makes placing large amounts of liquid a whole lot easier. I filled a large reactor with it in my own playthrough and it wasn't that bad.

Etho, like everyone else is saying, the DraconicEvo, Mekanism, and BigReactors are going to give you the best chance of hitting that 10E9 RF/t. An optimised reactor gives HUGE amounts of power, and can keep several turbines at full tilt simultaneously. The reason why they take so damn long to set up initially is _because_ of their massive power output. You get out the effort you put in, and all that. Get it going properly and safely and you'll rarely have to touch it as well, so you can set up more of the same. There's a reason why the questbook forces you to delve into those mods, whether you want to or not. I'm almost certain that Xisuma or similar had that setup on an SMP server, or maybe it was a Mindcrack one.
John Madinald it's an insane amount of crafting even for an ME system to make 4000 64x nether star generators. That's likely what turned him off from that solution, yet he was ok with tens of thousands of solar panels because they are EMCable. If you animate the generators you will have them all in no time.

Indeed it was extremely laggy, but it doesn't have to run forever, just long enough to claim the achievement. It doesn't take long to build either if you use builder's wand. I used several transfer nodes to feed nether stars. The important thing is round robin upgrades (and of course speed/stack). It takes a while for all the generators to get their stars (so I get what you're saying about them all having enough to go at the same time), but if you just wait it out, eventually it'll reach 10b...didn't take too long.
It might be too old of a version for this, but the mod with the nether star generator had at one point a special generator that was OP but only worked if you had all the other generators from this mod running around it, or something like that. If it's there, it might be worth checking out.

I think there might be an issue with your Mekanism Reactor Ergo. I know Mekanism's entire premise is insane quantities. I have one max sized steam turbine that has sixteen 11x11 Extreme Reactors providing steam to it and it's still not enough. I'm fairly certain that you are not giving it anywhere near the amount of fuel that it can handle. Maybe increasing your fuel production will help?
Don't forget etho, it never mentions how long it has to produce 1 billion RF/tick. So, you could technically make Draconic Reactors and 1 tick before they blow up they produce a burst of power, which you could then use.

Keep in mind that it means he needs to 1. place down 4000 generators, 2. place 4000 nether stars inside each one, which wouldn't be fun for him and take a long time. He could instead place down 4000 pipes to automatically feed the nether star generators, but Extra Utilities generators can't be turned off, so he would need to somehow make sure they'd all be fed at the same time, which can hard, because nether stars only last a few seconds in 64x nether star generators and you would probably need to separate it into multiple pipe lines to feed 4000 generators at once. On the contrary, it would take at most 10 minutes to place down a 208 x 208 multiblock of mk11 solar panels. Not to mention how much lag 4000 generators would probably create, while the solar panels should create close to no lag, as they form a multiblock structure when placed adjacent to each other, but that depends on how the solar panels were coded to work.
What I think is happening is you’re thinking a SINGLE reactor will get you to the huge 10bill goal, but I think the challenge is to have every system that ADDS UP to it. So you make a few draconic reactors and a few nether reactors and some Big Reactors all going into one huge bank.
I'd love to see the generation rate of a fully upgrade max level solar panel, even if its not viable for mass-production, it would be interesting to see how much 1 square or 1 3x3 could produce
The 10 Billion RF/t does not mean it has to be produced using a single source. You can combine many options from all different mods, such as all the different types of reactors, to produce all the power required for the quest.
With the Draconic Reactor, you want Energy Saturation and Field Strength as low as possible without being zero. Low energy saturation will make it generate energy faster, but zero saturation will make it generate literally infinite energy and blow up. Low field strength will obviously reduce how much energy you put back into the shield, but zero will make it blow up. The temperature can go above 8000, but as it says the energy the shield needs to deal with it increases exponentially. The generated power will increase faster than that so it is still viable, but you'd need to be much more careful with the configuration. The Draconic Reactor is capable of generating literally as much energy per tick as you want with the proper configuration, but it's very touchy. As it gets to higher and higher generation rates, you just need smaller and smaller changes.
To be exact, your field of solar panels would be a 12x12 area of chunks with than an additional 5 chunks filled with solar panels and than another 4 solar panels making 116720 Rf too much (about 45% of a solar panel), or 3 7x7 area's of chunks with an additional 2 chunks and 4 solar panels. Yay Math!
The 10 billion power quest doesn't say all the power has to come from one farm. You could add up all af your power generation and if necessary add more solar panels to get to the required amount
I mentioned nether gens because its easiest to spam those. The materials involved in crafting them are easiley made out of emc. It can be autocrafted, you can spam them in the world with a wand, fill them the spammy way, and dump the energy with trashbins. It can be autocrafted whilst you afk, it doesnt require brains or a clue to use... The other option is a really big reactor. 200x200x200 size one, dont bother with coolants, just fill it up entirely with fuel rods and shove it full of yellorium, then build a few of those. Either way, there is no 1 build that does 10 billion all at once. Not even creative gens do it.
ETHO, if available in that pack take a peek at the RAINBOW GENERATOR. it runs when all the generators used in the recipe are running. so make (sets of) 2 of each generator used to combine the two halves of it and set up the individual ones. in another pack, I got 11 billion with just 20 rainbow generators.
hey etho if you do plan on using the big reactor as a method in making 10b power look into flood gates from buildcraft they place down fluid blocks for you so if you have a reactor filled with the fuel tubes then place the floodgate on the top it should auto fill all the way down to top automaticly over time you just would need one for each of the holes between the tubes. Hope this makes sence

If you want items or liquids to pump faster, use the extra utilities pipes with speed and stack upgrades instead of the Ender IO pipes.
My biggest of many complaints has been his constant use of Ender IO pipes... literally the slowest pipes in the pack.

The solar panels cause lag if they're put in a grid because of the cables. To minimize lag you'll need to put them in zig zag pattern.

What I think is happening is you’re thinking a SINGLE reactor will get you to the huge 10bill goal, but I think the challenge is to have every system that ADDS UP to it. So you make a few draconic reactors and a few nether reactors and some Big Reactors all going into one huge bank.

I'd love to see the generation rate of a fully upgrade max level solar panel, even if its not viable for mass-production, it would be interesting to see how much 1 square or 1 3x3 could produce

The 10 Billion RF/t does not mean it has to be produced using a single source. You can combine many options from all different mods, such as all the different types of reactors, to produce all the power required for the quest.

Hey etho, I just wanted to clarify that both liquids and gasses are considered fluids because they both flow, as apposed to a solid.

With the Draconic Reactor, you want Energy Saturation and Field Strength as low as possible without being zero. Low energy saturation will make it generate energy faster, but zero saturation will make it generate literally infinite energy and blow up. Low field strength will obviously reduce how much energy you put back into the shield, but zero will make it blow up.
The temperature can go above 8000, but as it says the energy the shield needs to deal with it increases exponentially. The generated power will increase faster than that so it is still viable, but you'd need to be much more careful with the configuration.
The Draconic Reactor is capable of generating literally as much energy per tick as you want with the proper configuration, but it's very touchy. As it gets to higher and higher generation rates, you just need smaller and smaller changes.
To be exact, your field of solar panels would be a 12x12 area of chunks with than an additional 5 chunks filled with solar panels and than another 4 solar panels making 116720 Rf too much (about 45% of a solar panel), or 3 7x7 area's of chunks with an additional 2 chunks and 4 solar panels.

The 10 billion power quest doesn't say all the power has to come from one farm. You could add up all af your power generation and if necessary add more solar panels to get to the required amount
I mentioned nether gens because its easiest to spam those. The materials involved in crafting them are easiley made out of emc. It can be autocrafted, you can spam them in the world with a wand, fill them the spammy way, and dump the energy with trashbins. It can be autocrafted whilst you afk, it doesnt require brains or a clue to use... The other option is a really big reactor. 200x200x200 size one, dont bother with coolants, just fill it up entirely with fuel rods and shove it full of yellorium, then build a few of those. Either way, there is no 1 build that does 10 billion all at once. Not even creative gens do it.

ETHO, if available in that pack take a peek at the RAINBOW GENERATOR. it runs when all the generators used in the recipe are running. so make (sets of) 2 of each generator used to combine the two halves of it and set up the individual ones. in another pack, I got 11 billion with just 20 rainbow generators.
hey etho if you do plan on using the big reactor as a method in making 10b power look into flood gates from buildcraft they place down fluid blocks for you so if you have a reactor filled with the fuel tubes then place the floodgate on the top it should auto fill all the way down to top automaticly over time you just would need one for each of the holes between the tubes. Hope this makes sence
