The hybrid cars have massive amounts of energy being recovered through the turning of the rear wheels and make much more torque than the previous generation engines. A higher torque output also means there is higher torque required on input from the driveline when off throttle.

I think you might be surprised how little they use their mirrors! These guys know where an overtaking move is likely to happen based on instincts, corner characteristics, the tow you're providing for the guy behind and how well you've come off a corner etc. Using your mirrors is one of the biggest distractions - it would be so easy to miss your breaking point etc if you're concentrating overly on what's happening behind.

To be fair, an F1 game with a simple home setup with a decent force feedback wheel and helmet view is not bad. Can also get an idea of how difficult it is to drive too ;) Obviously still no where near the real thing, but pretty cool. Especially doing the same track with a normal car after in an F1 car, the F1 has sooo much more grip.

I think Hamilton would have something to say about that. But, he is definitely the most unconventional. That steering wheel flip should make him spin more, but it doesn’t. No one throws a car into a turn, adjusts the car accordingly, and speeds away like Alonso. No one.

I believe it was Paul Tracey who had one of these fitted in his helmet for one of the indycar races years ago, not sure if very late 90' or early 00's. Probably a video on YT somewhere

This used to happen back in the days before Crofty. If you watch past races, the commentary was never so intense and one commentator could count on the other not to talk.
@@trilexi at the japanese gp in 2019 renault had some kind of auto brake bias setting which obviously is illegal but they were caught because it showed up on the dash of their steering wheels
I said that a year ago that we need that cam and finally its creeping its way in to F1. Awesome, because that cam is pretty much standart in other series already and i think it only makes sense that F1 has the same option. The fans are pleased and we get just awesome video footage. I hope you expand further on that and make it also a cockpit option on F1 TV and sky. Cheers.
@@ptanyuh from what I remember, in 2013 there used to be a mute commentary button when the BBC used to have TV rights to F1, they also had a detailed live race report for it's time and an option to listen to Radio 5 Live commentary if you wanted that instead of the TV one

This should be standard on this channel. Random drivers, so we can really appreciate the skill they have. Alot of people say F1 is just a bunch of cars going round a track fast. After watching this video how can they not marvel at the skill level these drivers have. Even the guys at the back of the grid have mad skills.
I would like to see this on every driver during every race. Imagine heaving this in Siverstone when Max and Lewis came together. Then we would understand the drivers view piont better.
I absolutely LOVE that the camera is on eye-hight instead of on top of the helmet, but could the camera not be at the right side of the helmet as well? Then we would truly see a symmetrical perspective of the drivers view.
The technology of camera in motorsport, esspcially F1 is such a magical for us a viewer not only see car,the on board, and multiple angle but also see on our eyes the driver perspective himself see on approaching each turn. Long history from the first camera places on the car,now on the driver himself.☺️

I think it's less about bothering the drivers and more about the teams not wanting to share any info about what they're doing mid race. You can see the steering wheel screen perfectly in this video, and even if they had a reduced info screen, it would be hard to run in that mode for the entire race
