- A healthy but heavily threathened population of blacktipped reefsharks still live around the Phi Phi Islands. Let's all try and help to preserve these last specimens of a dwindling shark population. And please remember: ONLY BIG TIME LOSERS EAT SHARK FIN SOUP

In Phi Phi now
Superb vid
And they are still there, we were snorkelling in about 4 feet of water just inside maya bay and had 7 of them trolling
The Starks are they dangerous?
They are a shark so they could mistake you as food. We kept trying to swim close to them but they would swim away. My guess they don't care about humans. I suggest not to chum the water haha

Great video! Reminded my experience. Just back from Phi Phi and seen group of about 10 near Shark Point while snorkeling. During low tide. Just swum there from Long Beach. Was scared, as they were quite close. Even I knew they would not harm, so many terrible thoughts went through my mind. Incredible experience and such an amazing creatures they are. Will be back one day for sure.

Hej Lars.

No, the sharks are not dangerous at all. Most people never see a single one. You have to look for them. Normally they are very shy but around Phi Phi some of the sharks don't swim away too fast. That's the fascinating part. You can actually swim and watch these beautiful animals. Have a nice time on Phi Phi.
Lars Bindholt thank you so much, Phi phi so beautiful, i really want come here and can not wait :).
I must just mention that blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) and blacktip sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus) are two different species. Blacktip sharks are not to be found around Phi Phi. Cheers.
black tip sharks do attack people, yes its very rare but to say they are not dangerous at all is ridiculous
