    Great work. I've never seen a factory tilt/slide sunroof on a beetle before.

    You got a deal on that parts engine. And no loose studs! I had 3. You'll have it on the road in a few days.

      william tanner truly William that was an excellent deal with your right. The pistons and oil pump were never used. And the heads are very nice. I did re-lap the valves, I did a video on that too. I was thrilled.

      Junior Classic VW bugs Yeah it’s nice to have extra one on hand for parts. The Pistons are brand new, they were never used at all just placed on the engine.

    I'd pass on those slip in pistons, the skirts break off real easy.
    Some port work on those heads with 1.25 rockers will make a big difference.

    verify those rocker arms. we didn't get a good look but they look like 1.1's. been seeing the family photos in the background for a while now.

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scotty C I checked they only say EMPI on them. My buddy I bought the engine off of said they’re 1.25. Not sure how to tell 🤷‍♂️

    • @redshirt-scotty
      @redshirt-scotty 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SladesVWBeetle do you have some 1.1 stocker's about the place? just eyeball it. the difference is easily noticeable. it's possible empi changed the forging slightly so those are 1.25 but look like 1.1. i looked at some samba photos and an ezgz vid but there are no really good photos showing the difference. the vw forging 1.25 has the pushrod cup significantly shifted towards the rocker shaft.

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scotty C I looked today, after reading your comment. I put a set of stock ones next to them and they looked identical. So I think you are right.

      @SladesVWBeetle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scotty C Haha! Thanks Scotty! I guess I’ll use them since they’re new. But must be stock replacements by Empi. I don’t know what 1.25 would look like.

    Another great video Slades. Seems you are always using the same 1/4 ratchet every time lol at least to start with then you move to bigger tools 😂 I pay attention to things like that. I’m learning a lot that I didn’t know. Even though I’m a mechanic I don’t see or deal with these everyday so I like learning specifically about these. Nobody at work shares the same VW interest lol.

    • @SladesVWBeetle
      @SladesVWBeetle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah where I worked for years, no one there had any interest in the VWs. So I had to work on them as they came in. Lol I use the 1/4 inch a lot unless it’s heavy torque. I have been that guy who over tightens stuff!! 😁

    • @blakewaddell451
      @blakewaddell451 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SladesVWBeetle lol it happens. I have a coworker who doesn’t like using hand tools so he tries doing everything with power or air and gets yelled at by the boss 😄. Nothing like having him strip out an entire 6 spark plugs driving them down with an air gun or one of the many drain plugs he has tried to impact on. It’s a wonder he still has a job. And let’s not forget the die he drove down that I was telling you about earlier lol 😂. He hates hand tools that much.
