Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a 2018 action-adventure video game developed by Eidos-Montréal and published by Square Enix's European subsidiary. It continues the narrative from the 2015 game Rise of the Tomb Raider and is the twelfth mainline entry in the Tomb Raider series, as well as the third and final entry of the Survivor trilogy. The game was originally released worldwide for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. Versions for Linux and macOS, and Stadia, were released in November 2019. After release, the game was expanded upon with downloadable content in both a season pass and as standalone releases.

Sony never owned tomb raider Ip.
It was owned by Square Enix which sold it last year to Embracer group AKA Amazon's gaming division.
And they are currently working on a reboot of the series.

Why? The reboot series basically got rid of everything that identified Tomb Raider as a franchise. It's now another copy and paste Far Cry clone.

I discovered this game late....was my first tomb raider game....soon as I completed it I went and bought the other two. Such an amazing series.
I really enjoyed Tomb Raider reboot (multiple consoles with the remaster) and Rise of the Tomb Raider when it finally came to PlayStation consoles. Need to make time to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
I hated the first reboot, moderately enjoyed Rise of the Tomb Raider, and absolutely ADORED Shadow of the Tomb Raider. You need to play, it's fantastic! One of my favorite TR games.

@@saintlyvixen2659 I've heard they are going to try and unify all the stories which will be amazing. Crystal dynamics is working their magic in unreal it looks photo realistic. Release date will be on Amazon games exclusive at first. That's what I know so far.
I play this on GeForce now using there rtx4080 graphics server it’s actually crazy how it looks with ray tracing and its streaming not local

The last tomb raider I played was Rise of the Tomb Raider. Got bored with the game, never finished it. I prefer the old original tomb raider gameplay, with platforming and puzzles, much more fun.

Is this simply the PS4 version of the game auto-upscaled on the PS5? or a PS5 remake? or some custom mod loaded onto a PS5/PS5-equivalent hardware?
The new patch for Shadow of the Tomb Raider has made the game run at 60 FPS. This was only possible in the high-frame-rate mode previously which runs at 1080p resolution. After the update, the resolution has been bumped to a checkerboard 4K and now it is a pretty much locked 60 FPS save for some minor drops during cutscenes.

Yes they are pretty good. I've played Legends, Anniversary, PS4 Tomb Raider and have enjoyed every single one.
best was 1-4 for play station 1.
But for a generation today they made the tomb raider with less hard riddles and more easy action and movie scenes. for me its just a boring action game with the name from a old classic.
Looks good, would look even better if you turned off all that hud nonsense notifications about skill points and artifacts. This isn't a criticism of your video, more I remember playing this game and finding the frequency and size of these notifications intrusive and breaking immersion.

simply Impressive stuff, beautiful use of shade and light with mist programs. on top of the world views give peace in gameplay while shadows reveals hidden dangers. like always tome raider deliver fun game play.

Its twice as good on pc. I sold the ps5 after playing the game on pc. All the ps5 games I like are on pc now. I like how I can buy the game once for pc and then run it on the steam deck also without having to buy the games again.

Texture in this context refers to skin texture itself such as wrinkles, not a flat render. The game also has Ray tracing lighting that effectively gives flat render a 3D appearance if not viewed at too steep an angle as seen on the entrance to the ship!
@@Allangulon No, ray tracing doesn't give flat textures a 3D appearance. Ray Tracing is just lighting and reflections. Normal maps and bump mapping are what gives 2D textures a 3D appearance, and they work with rasterized shaders as well.

3D appearance you Muppet, not actual 3rd dimension. The lighting accent appears around the edges of indents and the centre of raised areas and moves with the lighting source in real time. It was effective enough to make me look closely to confirm it was simply an effect. Is english your second language?

I don’t like story-based games. They get boring! The first tomb raider games were gameplay- bases and that made them absolutely fantastic!

I never claimed Lara would change in the modern reboots. I simply stated she is older in the original series, about 15 years older.

The graphics are really incredible, with the exception of the hair, which has terrible animation.
I really don't understand why in some games they give more animation to the characters' clothes than their long hair.

The first game was more focused on survival, but the later games do have a bit more tomb raiding.
Graphic don't mean much. The bow and arrow gameplay needs to be fixed. Playing the older games you need like 3 hands to shoot an arrow.I stopped playing right after that.

ultra realistic graphics? looks much more like standard pc graphics with raytraced shadows and raytraced direct lighting. nothing special at all. it looks like this (or even better) on pc since the raytracing patch 4 years ago...

So the rumors about this tomb raider being its own separate universe, and not tied to their survive timeline is wrong. Because this tomb raider movie is definitely a sequel to survive number three shadow of the tomb raider.

This looks absolutely ridiculous compared to the other tomb Raiders. Look at the graphics when the predator cat comes, it looks so fake. We still got definitely a long way to go with these graphics getting better.
2023 and animations are still queued instead overlapping naturally. RDR2 animations are far better.
