side note before starting, this does take place after The Call, but not immediately. The whole fight with Rek'Sai took place in an area of Shurima. This encounter takes place in the void swallowed ruins of the city of Bel'Veth which is in the southern part of the continent. Kai'Sai has basically been travelling in the void for a while now at the time this happens.
Bel'Veth represents a civil war within the Void. She isn't going along with the original plan of the Watchers to erase reality so they can go back to the quiet silence of the original Void. This is because there is a problem unforeseen and not yet fully comprehended by the Watchers. Whenever the Void interacts with physical reality it gets tainted by the interaction just as much as reality is tainted by the Void. The Watchers want the Silence back, but the Void itself is hungry now that it has tasted reality.
When the Void consumed the coastal city of Bel'Veth and all of it's thousands of inhabitants, it also consumed a fair portion of the surrounding ocean and all of the sea life as well. She's the physical manifestation of the Void after it consumed/destroyed the city and the ocean. That's the main reason for her physical form being so aquatic/manta ray, and why the Void iteration of that region feels like it's under water with all of the "void fish".
Also, her "head" isn't actually real. It's akin to the lure of an angler fish. It's there to attempt to set humanoids more at ease interacting with her at first. Everything below it is her Actual body. And the "legs" aren't legs either. They are really just dual fin structures, sort of a weird perversion of those similar to other rays which are used for additional forward/rotational propulsion and stabilization in the water.
That said, I would have been much more happy with her design had they not included the "Lure head" at all. But she's definitely closer to a Lovecraftian monster than most of the other Void creature champs.
my guy always welcome to learn more about the lore and other perspectives.. also thank you for going so in depth brother. i get the theme they were going for... i just don't really like it.. she feels a tad bit lazy and just another attempt to sell skins since we all know female champs that are some what attractive sell very well. even more so in china.. her lore skin is okay but the skins they will release for her will use her fake had as her real head. which is a bummer.
@@lostfromgod09 I thought that at first too. But the way her in-game model works, you can barely even see her "head". It's all manta ray flailing slice and dice action. And if the person playing her is doing what they are supposed to do (securing Rift Guardians, Baron, Dragon and kills/assists) she spends most of her time in her empowered form which doesn't even display the barely visible "head".
She's literally a manta ray.
And if you check her lore, not only does she fits perfectly, she also explains things like why some Watchers have a bodies now.
its just a retcon. yes she is adding in new lore, but its over writing existing lore and its silly. warframe mode

@@wrexonus how the void operates. Her story is moving the void away from the have mind so they coul justify giving her pretty face. The biggest threat was always the watchers. It's dismal.

It's so nice to see reactors tell it like it is. None of the sugar coating. I completely agree with you on a lot of things like Kaisa's design, Belveth's design, her impact on the lore etc. Just hang on till the Void event brother 🥲🫡(I'm coping)

I love the new setup homie. Bel’Veth apparently gained individualality (not a word) and she doesn’t want to follow the Watchers because the Watchers want to destroy everything including her. So she wants to fight the Watchers so she can consume things and not be destroyed.

I think they have said that Bel'vet was not the monster champion they have hinted at. And that the real monster champion is still in the making.
In any case, I'm glad they did not use any of the previous sketches, as you can see in her theme video, because they were even less monsters than her. But i still feel sad that they did plan a void champion that was ment to be a hybrid betwen human and monster.
Her place in the lore is that she is like a cancer in the void. A void born that have turn against the voids purpose. Like a cancer cell start to hurt the organism even if the cells are ment to make it grow stronger. So not really a changs in the lore.
Team Rek’sai all day long. Hope they keep their word that a real monster is on the way.
Anyway I play wild rift so at lesst I don’t have to deal with her.
it is a very cool concept of her being a cancer I really like that idea honestly. I was just hoping for more.. thank you so much for thought put into your comment though and I would argue wild rift is doing a lot of stuff very well
I can agree on the ruined king being dogshite. I also hope that the monster character we're all waiting for is still coming. Belveth doesnt do it for me.
