I had a similar experience to the first story but me being paranoid meant that my friends were alerted very quickly and there was very little danger also we let a friend in the hotel when we were sneaking out and when we would be back.
The landlord with the color changing eyes is hopefully just a doomsday prepper but as far as his eyes go mine do the same thing grey or dark grey or hazel with gold flicks in them. Idk why or how but it seems to be changed by the days lighting

Ive seen my dad drink a beer while doing it too- so none of that seems weird at all. And so what if he is a vet or has ptsd- mind ur business. You ARE overthinking it. I lived through a violent crime and I too often practiced self defense scenarios a lot afterwards. Privacy is impt in an office, esp if that is where his safe or impt papers are! None of that is suspicious in my opinion….

Nothing too serious, tell them a story about something and then hand them an object and the knife and tell them to do something to the object with the knife. Carve their name, slice a particular park off ect. Sounds like this guy knew it would scare the piss out of you and keep you awake lol.
