🙋♀️📖example take a long time just to do it went you are ready to get head it .took me 2018 to 2022 to get a head of the story and I did get a few story out of it take a lot of time. And now enjoy the story 📖and thank you for enjoy it so much 🎬
I love that your looping around follows one direction on both sides. Otherwise in other tutorials, I got really confused about looping around part. Thank you!
I have made multiple journals using the Coptic stitch binding. However, every time I do it I have to watch a video again on how to do it. Yours came up this time when I searched it and it is the best instructions I have ever seen. Thank you so much for showing us how to do this binding.
I've been looking for a binding which is much stronger and solid and this looks like the answer! I don't want to have to rely on PVA and muslin to keep it together. Great tutorial!
Thank you so much for this. I saw like 5 different videos and it was very hard to get this stitch. I think your video has very good camera angles which makes it way easier to understand.
Everytime I will try this stich I came to this video and follow all the steps, thank yo so much for that this is an amazing video and to easy to catch the idea.
Followed this and made my first Coptic stitch thank you so much!! It would help to explain how much thread you used 😊 I did a slip knot but that was hard I tried lol
Thank you so much, Faye! This is probably the easiest and simplest book-binding video that I had been looking for and I'm excited to try it out on my book! Thanks once again! :)
validating that the "most replayed" section of this video is attaching the cover with the final signature, I've made dozens of these books and I'm CONSTANTLY forgetting how to properly do that lmao
This is the easiest video on coptic stitching I've ever seen. Thank you so much! How long does the thread needs to be to use a one piece for this book?
Apparently it needs to be about 10 inches longer than I thought 😭 This is my first try and the last hole on my cover is empty. I’m not going to start over. Other than that it’s a great tutorial
I normally measuring the thread along the spine, also it depends on how many holes you design for the covers. I will make the video about it soon. Thank you!
Hey cool post! Thanks for slowing down and zooming in on the parts that matter. Any advice on how far in to poke the holes on the cover? And you nailed the length of the string, what's the rule of thumb for guesstimating? And I'd go with a curved needle, it will prevent the opening to find the needle, it just loops around the previous stitch.
Thank you Diego! The hole can be any from 1/2 inch or longer depending on your cover design. For the string estimates, I normally measure it with the spine plus the number of layers, then plus the length of covers. I did failed with the length measuring too, sometimes. 😄 also, thank you for your suggestion about the needle! I will definitely practice more with curve needles. 💛
Am I doing this right? I’m understanding that the far left and the far right basically the first and last stitching on the side of the spine look different from all of the middle sitches? They don’t have that same chain mail Coptic looking stitch right? Is there no way to make them match?
I realize this video is 3 years old but I have a question I hope can be answered, I got my book finished, but it won’t lay flat? Did I pull my thread too tight? Thanks. Maggie ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️😊
Thank you! And yes, normally we do 4 sheets per signature, but it depends on how you like the look will be you can try and play around with the number and the paper thickness to see what works best for you.
Hi again. How are you punching the holes in the chip board? I've looked and looked for information on getting a clean hole in the board. I can't find anything on how to do it.
I personally use a heavy duty awl, but there are a lots of tools out there. You can consider leather hole puncher, either manual (need hammer) or pliers.
Is there any other kind of thread I could use? It seems like all waxed threads contain beeswax (none with soy wax) and I can't use any animal ingredients.
Hi! I used to use cotton thread and it seems working really great for me without bee-waxing them or you can later use soy wax. Also, you can double thread when sewing for a stronger binding. 😊
They are not looking the same, yes. Because we did not go back through the same hole like those in the middle, instead continue binding with new signatures.
hello if you can put it in translation in portuguese i don't speak english and i understand i loved your notebook if you can put it in translation in portuguese it will be better for me to understand
This video was too fast for a beginner to learn coptic binding. You never showed how you secured the 1st page :-( If this is truly for a beginner than you shouldn't be fast forwarding all the stiches of course this is just my opinion ;-)
Finally! A proper step by step example of how to do this. I can't wait to get started!
Let me know how it goes :D
I feel that "finally" too!

Очень классное видео! Вроде без озвучки, но настолько понятно все показано, что озвучка просто не нужна 👍
Lindsay Weirich the frugal crafter recommended this tutorial. Gorgeous work.
Awesome! Thank you!
This is beautiful. I am just discovering Coptic Binding. Will use this technique. The open spine looks great with exposed knots. Perfection!
Clear tutorial . can see clearly at close range unlike other videos. Thank you. I like that it has no glueing.
Thank you! I just used this to make my wedding guestbook!

Love the music.
Great 👍
I love it.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕
Hi Faye, came over from IG.
Hi!! Thank you!! 🤩 👋
Thanks
Can you cut the chipboard to customize the size? Thanks
Great video. Can you share where you got the paper for the cover? I love the map

I normally measuring the thread along the spine, also it depends on how many holes you design for the covers. I will make the video about it soon. Thank you!
Thank you! And keep it up! If the thread was not long enough we still can fixed it by tiding the new and the old threads together.
I am all way learning in my own 🌎 it help me get a story out there 📖for you to enjoy at you time 🙋♀️
Can I ask why the cover holes are so far into the book? I love it, I just want to know if distance matters
Great video except for the horribly repetitive music...thank gawd for mute!
How do I know how much thread to cut for each book I make?
Hey cool post! Thanks for slowing down and zooming in on the parts that matter. Any advice on how far in to poke the holes on the cover? 💐💐💐
Did you punch holes in signatures ?
Am I doing this right? I’m understanding that the far left and the far right basically the first and last stitching on the side of the spine look different from all of the middle sitches? They don’t have that same chain mail Coptic looking stitch right? Is there no way to make them match?
perfeito
I realize this video is 3 years old but I have a question I hope can be answered,
I got my book finished, but it won’t lay flat? Did I pull my thread too tight?
Thanks. Maggie ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️😊
Thank you so much! This looks easy and very secure.
Can I do this with more than one page in a signature?
Thank you! And yes, normally we do 4 sheets per signature, but it depends on how you like the look will be you can try and play around with the number and the paper thickness to see what works best for you.
i can use a curve needle?
Of course!
when did you use the glue that is mentioned in the description?? :))
I use the glue for making the book covers 😊
Brasil ❤🤭🇧🇷👏👏👏
Could you use embroidery floss for a small Coptic binding process? I’m making a journal that’s only about 4*6 inches with 3 signatures
Yes, that works too!
Hi again. How are you punching the holes in the chip board? I've looked and looked for information on getting a clean hole in the board. I can't find anything on how to do it.
I use a japanese screw punch.
I personally use a heavy duty awl, but there are a lots of tools out there. You can consider leather hole puncher, either manual (need hammer) or pliers.
@@BooksBindFaye I've considered a leather hole puncher. I hear a Crop-A-Dile also works. thanks for the feedback.
@@junecleary4449 thank you.
@@BooksBindFaye Hey I found the perfect tool for punching holes, its the PowerPunch. It works great.
I think you won at Thread Chicken 🤣
Can this be done without a hard cover?
Definitely!
@@BooksBindFaye Double threading! Ofcourse! Why didn't I think of this? Thank you! :-)
Okay can we talk about how they had the exactly right amount of thread to do the whole thing
Name of stitche
So the first and last stitches don't looke like the same as those in the middle ?
They are not looking the same, yes. Because we did not go back through the same hole like those in the middle, instead continue binding with new signatures.
@@BooksBindFaye thank you , that was very helpful to clear things for me
What if your signature isn't folded
You can try Japanese binding method
Speeding up is dizzying-. Especially for first two signatures.
Thank you for your feedback💛
great video. awful distracting music
hello if you can put it in translation in portuguese i don't speak english and i understand i loved your notebook if you can put it in translation in portuguese it will be better for me to understand
Sorry to hear that. So far I can only provide it in English. Thank you for loving my work!
Fast forwarding is too fast. I'd like to see more repetitive steps, so that it sticks in the mind. Great tutorial, though.
How do the pages flip, though?! 🙄
This video was too fast for a beginner to learn coptic binding. You never showed how you secured the 1st page :-( If this is truly for a beginner than you shouldn't be fast forwarding all the stiches
of course this is just my opinion ;-)
Thanks for your feedback! I will apply your suggestions towards my future videos 😊
i got a headache from this and i want to put the needle in my eye
It was the worst binding I have to throw it 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Thank you for your feedback. This video is an easy step binding one way that I found it easy to make book at the beginning.
That is okay with me 🙋♀️
