I do cleanouts in the Philly suburbs .I found a 82 schwinn thrasher and a 81 st. Tropaz at a old couples house I was about 46 so they were in there late 70’s,they must have been there grandkids bikes .they were never road .got them both for $50 .I held them for a couple years and road them .took me back to them years instantly ,.fun times for me I would have been 8-9 years old then
Sweet! I have an '82 Thrasher that's about the same, in black too, that I need to do up like this. Mine is a bit more rough, but def savable. I'm going to do mine "race" (lol) to begin with, as a wall hanger. So, this is inspirational. Thank you. Sounds like you have someone installing a new roof nearby amirite? Keep up the great work saving the vintage BMX. Really looking fwd to that goose. I sold a nickel goose, regret that one!
This schwinn scrambler never had gyro on them if i was you id take it off looks tacky lol not to be mean u did a good job on it till i saw you putten the gyro on i was like nooooo wat is he doing cuz these never had gyro on them.
Yeah I know but I was gonna ride some Flatland on it untill after it was finished and I rode it a little bit and realized theres no way I’m gonna be able to with the looseness of the gooseneck style stem and the weight of the bike.
I rode that bike from the time I was 7 to 15. Lots of memories seeing it again. Cheers.

Good story thanks for sharing.
I had the huffy version (clone) of this, which came out in 1980, with aluminum yellow mags. I absolutely LOVED that bike.
