Not if you account for features required by the government or features demanded by consumers on even the most basic vehicles. Comparing this to a car from the early 2000s is apples and oranges. They didn't have backup cameras, emergency braking, side curtain airbags, bluetooth, android auto, stuff that is all standard today. You can't compare this to for example a Lancer from 20 years ago.
Yes many families need this car but profit on each car is so low dealers don't like ordering these (and similar cars like versa and even corolla) taking up lot space so they fill their lots with expensive suv's and pickups as much as possible. When I search inventory not much to choose from in the compact car category maybe 3 or 4 currently on the lot for the smaller cars.

The Nissan Versa comes with a 4-cylinder, 122 hp. engine standard. Is better looking. Fuel economy numbers are going to be negligible. And, ironically, _cheaper_ than the G4 Mitsubishi Mirage. There's a Mitsubishi Mirage G4 ES in a dealer by me but for $15.9k. They only have 2 and no one buys them here. MSRP is $19.4k but it's extremely hard to compete since we have Kia Forte's for $19.8k at City Kia in Orlando which is much better than the Mirage ofc.
I have the 2024 BE (Black Edition) financed at $24,000..It's a 3 cylinder...and I'm not fond of that..slow take off..yeah there's some engine noise but not too bad. I wish it wasn't so compact. It only has one interior light, and that's in the front (should have put one for the backseat, as well). U have to keep watch on your fuel, mine doesn't beep to let me know when it's low. I wish it had a trunk release on the key..

Great video! I just purchased a 2024 G4. And I really do like it especially the gas mileage. I do have a question about the steering which is hard to explain what I’m experiencing. So as I’m driving on a straight stretch, I feel like I’m constantly having to adjust the steering wheel to stay straight. If I move the wheel just a little to the right it starts to drift right, when I turn a little to the left it starts to drift left so I’m constantly moving the steering very little back and forth. My previous car was a 2010 Chevy Malibu with very smooth steering. Is it just me or is that normal for the Mirage G4 and some thing I will eventually get used to?
My 2024 G4 does the same thing...I had tone of the techs at the dealership drive mine.. He said it drove fine.. but to me it's very sensitive steering..I thought, it needed to be lined up.
@@sonyaloweRecently I noticed a deep fluctuating sound from inside only when I just sit it the front seat without the music or air conditioner on coming from the vack. It’s not real loud but enough that I can hear it. Can’t hear it when driving because of the road noise. It doesn’t change with sound when giving gas. Have you noticed this with yours? Test it some time, just sit there without any music or heat/air on. I think it might be my fuel pump. My G4 is 2024 with just 4000 miles I wouldn’t think I’d have any issues.
@marctressler4264 Hi, wow! Yeah, the mechanics at the dealership thought I was crazy.. I was hearing a deep fluctuating sound as well..Mine did turn out to be the fuel pump..(took it to a better mechanic), and he told me to basically take it back and get something else! He said they don't make them like they used to anymore... they come off the factory line too fast. Therefore, mistakes! Even a small mistake could dent your pockets. I hope you have a good mechanic you can trust! Have them sit in it with you so they can hear what you hear. Mine had a little over 7,500 miles on it, and I had it 9 months.
@@sonyalowe Glad someone else has the same experience. Did the mechanic say something was wrong with the fuel pump or that you could hear it because of the cheap make of the car? Do you still have it?
I do recommend it. Make sure to check out the top SE trim as well, you might like that quite a bit. But don't try to win any straight line races. I lose a race to some Lamborghini the other day. 🤣 Though the Lamborghini also didn't know I was racing it. But it won. I heard rumors that Mitsubishi has really gone downhill that 2025 next year will be the final year of the Mirage & the Mirage G4 series... Looking at Mitsubishi's current inventory, they're NOT doing that great... Only crappy SUVs & this weak Subcompact Sedan Mirage G4. Their old models like the Diamante Full Size Sedan, the Galant Mid Size Sedan, their "signature" Lancer/Lancer Evo Compact/Sports Sedan, the 3000GT Sports Car, & the Eclipse Sports Car, & even their Mighty Max Pickups, ALL DISCONTINUED.... Mitsubishi is currently hanging by a thread because of this Mirage G4 still in the market. If this Mirage G4 joins the Mitsubishi's Discontinued List (which will be after 2025), eventually Mitsubishi will sink completely & that Mitsubishi will end up like Pontiac or Saab, which is they will NO LONGER make cars. Sad for Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi still have a chance to make their car company great again by simply BRINGING BACK their legendary cars like the 3000GT, the Eclipse, the Lancer Evo, the Galant & the Diamante. If Mitsu resurrect those legendary vehicles, then Mitsu survives. Otherwise, Mitsu: join Saab & Pontiac in the defunct list.

Very helpful video!!
I wish I had a dealer closer to me. One question I have does the rear seat fold down in any of the available trims? Thankyou.
Not on the g4 but I think the hatch has folding seats
I was disappointed that you didn't pull a burnout in that beast. ☹️
My mom drove my Mirage before, she has a lead foot, she managed to make a small burn out when turning out of a parking lot in the rain.
@@lockdot2😂 Lmao swing it 🤣
Good cheap runabout if you need something to get to work and back, or go to the shops.
nice review!
Thanks!
Elsewhere in the world, 18k can get you a fully decked out, and much better looking Chinese crossover, maybe even a seven seat SUV. Japanese automakers are wayy behind the times.
In the American market, this is the cheapest new car. Here in America, there are a lot of huge expensive new cars and very very very very very few small cheap new cars
Be realistic man. Nobody thinks they way nor care to.
That chinese car is put together poorly and is running on a very inefficient engine.

I'm looking to buy a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage.
What made you consider it? Hopefully you’re not setting any expectations to it
I do recommend it. Make sure to check out the top SE trim as well, you might like that quite a bit. But don't try to win any straight line races. I lose a race to some Lamborghini the other day. 🤣
Though the Lamborghini also didn't know I was racing it. But it won. I was flooring the Mirage up a hill trying to beat a light, and the Lamborghini was board, so he passed me. Didn't even hear the Lamborghini's engine! Lol.
Hopefully you didn't, mistibishi is cheaper for a reason.
@noneyabizz8337 The Mitsubishi Mirage tends to be a very long lasting car.
@noneyabizz8337 On TH-cam, search up "the worst car you can buy can be surprisingly reliable".
It's a video from Turdpals. He has a fleet of these cars, several with 200,000-300,000 mile.
"America's Best Warranty". Yeah, until you try to take advantage of it!
I can get a fully loaded elantra used for the same price ????
Is this car reliable since it made in Thailand?
Have you ever read of a mirage owner ever complain? about its reliability, or the fact that many of them go over 200,000 miles easy?
@@gkauto1959 no I haven’t heard of the mirage

Wait you won't find disc breaks on it. Wait Wait wait you telling me that car has all wheel drum breaks
For under 18k I rather buy a pre owned vehicle than this can with wheels. 0-60 in 12.8 seconds 😨 can’t imagine driving this in the highway
I love this car until you need parts for it....$300 for an o2 sensor, over 400 for a damn strut.....japan needs to send parts over here. Mine is a 2018....had it since 2019 and parts is always costly...it's like owning Cadillac when it comes to repairs
Mirage is best car to buy when you wish to die in a car crash. For that it tops all other cars. Other than that its one hell of a fine vehicle. 😂
No one wants to die. You should direct your comment to the speeding and wreckless suv/truck drivers
I am 6'4, is it ok for me?
Almost 20k for this car is insane
Are you sure about these prices
Do they offer a manual transmission anymore?
The manual was discontinued unfortunately

Pretty bad when you hear $18K and up for this diminutive vehicle and people think it’s a great price. A lot of money for what little you get.
Is anyone here who bought this car through a mitsubishi dealership but finance it? What trim level did you buy, how much downpayment, how much you pay monthly, and how much is the insurance cost? Thanks.
I went to dependable Mitsubishi and the sticker price was 18k end up being 26,670 after taxes at 640 a month which was insane had to walk away. It was the base trim
I purchased the base ES trim, new 2024 Mirage. I put down 2k and I’m paying $700 a month for 60 months. I pay $300 a month for insurance
@@johnkonde1975 that’s a lot of money for a basic Mitsubishi it’s outrageous it’s not worth the investment I would never pay full sticker price for it
@@johnkonde1975 that's crazy. Is it because of the credit score or the down payment? I'm thinking of going for the SE trim, knowing this I feel discouraged 😞
@MrBroadcast45 👋. What're the factors the dealership or you did that ended up having to pay for 640$/month? Good thing you walked 🚶♂️ away, though. That's a crazy price.
You really need a rear difuser for a 76 HP vehicle 😂😂😂
2024 no longer comes in a 5 speed manual as the CVT stinks to hi hell & super slow.
I stay in Las Vegas , Nevada I want to buy the Mirage hatchback 🚗. I would like to buy from younger Mitsubishi to take advantage of that 200,000 mile or 20 years warranty. What are my options . Cuss the dealer in Vegas don’t offer that . Please advice
My advice is get a week off from work, get a 1 way ticket to Younger Mitsubishi, buy the car, and drive it back. Google says it will take about 35 hours of driving, so split that into a few hours a day, and have a nice trip.
Read the fine print of that 20 year warranty. You have to do all your vehicle maintenance at Younger Mitsubishi to maintain the warranty. Since you live in Vegas, the warranty is useless. Buy a new Mirage from a Mitsubishi dealership near you
Ah! Thanks Sach! I would have lost my warranty at 700 miles when I changed the oil for the first time. I'm at 10,000 now. About to do the first break in transmission oil/filter change. @@johnkonde1975
@@johnkonde1975 Say no more . Well that pretty much takes that option out of the way

76hp? Uh, no thanks. I think I'd rather drive a 20 year old beater and save $13-15K
And get what your supposedly saving hoovered up in running and repair costs. This car while slow will get way better mileage than what youre suggesting as an alternative, plus you get a warranty and service plan.
@@mindfreeze0838 You're not going to spend 13-15K in repairs and the gas mileage isn't that big of a delta. Especially if you learn it's easy to fix most things yourself at 1/4 the cost of a repair shop. Don't have a garage? Work in the driveway. Don't have a driveway? Work in a friend's driveway. No better way to become poor than buying over priced crap you can't afford. Learn to fix things if you can't afford something new - it's a life skill that will serve you well.
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow not everyone has the luxury of access to a garage or the budget to fix something that goes wrong with a DIY. New cars offer the security of warranty and a service plan which helps to take care of the major things at no cost to you, you dont have that used. Coupled with that parts for vehicles over two decades old often are ripe for extensive transmission, suspension and engine issues. Finally i am all for DIY as the sense of independence it gives you is second to none, but when you have the opportunity for a new car and you want relatively stress free motoring that is your best bet.
@@mindfreeze0838 I wouldn't call this car stress free motoring, but whatever floats your boat. It's your money.
