I find it reasonable he just redid it instead of making her. Neither me or my husband like when people put dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I know alot of people who feel that way too
Genuine question: what's the point of putting already washed dishes in the dish washer?
@@Mari14162 When they say dirty, they mean food left in it. Shaun is not "washing" them in the sense that they're disinfected and safe to eat from. He's removing the noticeable spots with a quick scrub. Making sure the food is off of it.
What happens when you wash a dirty dish in the sink? The food bits and everything on it build up in the sink, which is why we have drain catchers. We then clean the sink.
Putting an obviously dirty dish covered in food bits in a dishwasher, the food, grease and soap scum builds up in the dishwasher. This stops the dishwasher from being as effective (which is why you should be cleaning it every so often.)
Plus, you often have to wash a dish twice depending how much food is on it and if it had been dried. Especially if the build up is stopping it from being as effective.

@@Mari14162 you don't want crusty stuff to still be stuck on the dish after going through the dishwasher. It also saves you the grief of having to clean the dishwasher as often.

the cutest part isnt in this video, while holding the sign he gets clearly uncomfortable watching her do the dishes and leah says 'its okay, you dont have to watch' and he turns around and holds the sign above his head so she can still be supported❤
I always see people give Leah shit in comments on Good Doctor clips and they never realize they'll give Shaun grace for wanting things done a certain way but they'll give Leah no grace for the same reasons.
She grew up fighting to be taken seriously, just like Shaun. She struggles in her professional life, just like Shaun. Shaun's habits irritate her, her habits irritate Shaun.
Their entire relationship is about her accepting Shaun's quirks and him learning how to be supportive and empathetic to her needs.
Fr i know alot of these people wouldn’t put up with shawn irl but will gladly scold leah 😭
@@IDKwhyimhere675 Right? When I started watching the show, I even thought she wouldn't really stick around or Shaun would end things with her. Her personality is so free and spontaneous. She's also likeable that it's not a surprise a lot of other guys might want to pursue her. Knowing they ended up together really surprised me.
Just when Shaun defends his relationship with Leah to Leah's parents he says:
"Our relationship has challenges, and we both face them together, it is what makes us stronger, Leah challenges me to do things I don't want to because it is not always better not to do them and I challenge Leah to be patient because i can be very frustratin"
Shaun recognizes that they both have flaws that can bother the other, but how they both face them and overcome them together is what makes them strong together
One is a quirk of behaviours he s born with and compulsion like germanophobia. The other is a cesspool of ego , insecurity ,the need to feel right, not be right, and unwillingness to adknowledge her lack of awareness.
One take the other as they are, the other want change his behaviour to please her.

I have the same “issue” like Shaun. I just learned to accept that my dishes will never be 100% washed correctly.
Problem solved.
In situations like that, I'll let you do the dishes and I'll do something you don't like doing that I enjoy as the trade off
me too, we dont have a dish washer and i think doing the dishes is better than putting it on a dishwasher, thats just my opinion thought 😅

My little things didn't matter. Mother's Day I got her flowers, a handwritten card, and gave her massages. Also made a sweet card with our baby son for her using his hands and feet. She clearly liked it, wanted the sweet baby card I made, but still left the marriage not 2 weeks later and forced me to file divorce.
Sometimes the little things don't matter. Or the big things. Or anything. They just seem to hate you and want to ruin your life because they don't want to try any more. I've tried giving this to God but the pain is just too much like I want to die it is so bad. 💔💔💔
I've seen this episode and it still baffles me on why she keeps just dosent let him do the dishes I mean the dude is a germicphobe and literally doubles checks for any germs on them
Watching, I understand Leah, though she was actually taking a Dr Glassman approach. Some things he knew would irritate Shaun. However, it was trying to get Shaun to regulate. Although it's easier for most of us to do, it's a lot harder for Shaun, especially when he gets fixated on them. Leah probably thought she was helping Shaun adjust to different things and personalities. It's a little like Dr. Glassman with getting Shaun to try stepping on grapes. The stimulation from that may be gross, but Shaun tried

One thing they did very right than most of the humanity is live together, cohabit before starting any romantic relationship. They got naturally used to each other’s domestic personalities in the first two seasons. That made their couple dynamic stronger to the day to day mundane petty things. Look how Lea is patient with Shaun or how he does things himself instead of yelling or belittling her. He brings arguments instead of arguing with her. She understands his predicament and is patient with him instead of yelling back at him. That’s why they are like dynamic duo. They balance each other very well.

For people who haven't seen the show lol: it's not just the dishes. To make it so they're both doing work, she does the laundry, but then Shaun also criticizes that and they decide he should take over that, so Lea ends up doing nothing. Someone doing all the housework is not going to end well most of the time. Eventually Lea says that it feels like she's doing everything wrong to him sometimes (not just this instance), so he made the sign.
Even if I'm not a germaphobe, that stain IS STAINING! So anybody would notice it. Shaun did the thing we all would have done, germaphobe or not
Or at least rinse off the food you know won't clean easily like egg, cheese, any sauce you know will stain
@@Ripjaws3199 i wouldn't. i think rinsing is a waste of time and water. just clean the dishwasher's filter once in a while.

How to have a healthy marriage. Communication and compromise
I usually at least rinse my dishes before the dishwasher because thats less food built up in the washer that may cause it to break sooner. Also theres less chance of the dishes having crusted on food that was missed by the washer and dried on in the heat cycle.
I really enjoy doing the dishes, and cleaning in general. It gives me time to just be by myself, I get to have peace and quiet to just think about all sorts of stuff, and it relieves a lot of anxiety I have on a day to day basis. It’s almost a form of meditation.
It's a dishwasher. Not a dishcleaner. Leaving grime causes build up in the filter, which is not ever fun to clean because of the smell and fact it's a mixed bag of left overs.
Easy trick also, use disposable plates and things for when you and your partner are home on regular or lazy days. Use the plates and such you will have to clean on date meals, or gatherings. Dishes pile up waaaay slower.
Dishwasher and dishcleaner is the same thing. The purpose of the dishwasher is to clean off food from the dishes. Personally it’s better to wash dishes by hand, but whatever works best for others.
My grandma would put the dishes in the dishwasher but she eventually gave up because they weren’t “put in correctly”, according to my grandpa so he would fix it and then just did them himself 😂 they’ve been married for 70 years and are 88 and 90 ❤❤

My partner needs his dishes cleaned a certain way that i cannot achieve, any dishes that could touch his food. For that reason we both agreed that even if its something he terribly hates to do, it is for the best interest if he does them. Instead, i try to help by finding ways to make the least dishes possible whenever i cook, to allow him to have a lesser workload or to not have to do them so often.

Wrong, dishwasher soap is scientifically formulated to dissolve food off of dishes. Do some research and you'll see.

I grew up with a broken dishwasher, so I learned to wash dishes by hand. I carried on the thoroughness of my dishwashing that when we moved and finally got a working dishwasher, I and my family still wash them beforehand and use the dishwasher as more of a sanitizer
I'm 46 I think in my whole life I've lived in two houses that had working dishwashers so I've always just been used to washing dishes. And I'm neurotic and if there's something in the thing I will lose it It has to stay clean and like wiped dry so the stainless steel looks pretty. But I am actually like certified nuts

My husband and i would always put the dishes off because we both hate to do them, we got a dishwasher like the ones they have in restaurants. Made things so much easier, i do rinse them, but if a bit of dirt remains, the dishwasher gets them clean either way.

As a man with tism, this is in fact how we think. Some of us are moveable, some are not.
It's actually worse to clean the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. The detergent grips onto the sticky stuff and the sensors inside the dishwasher sense when the dishes are clean. It's designed that way. If your dishwasher doesn't wash them well enough, it is likely your detergent. Invest in good detergent :)

Honestly, my skin would crawl too if the dishes look like that in the dish washer. The washer never actualy cleans. You have to remove the food so the dish washer doesnt get crusty or smelly or let alone food wont dry up and get stuck on it.

i mean... he's not wrong? sometimes when my husband doesn't pre-rinse the dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher, it comes out dirty. and when i clean a specific way, after seeing my husband cleans, he gets offended. if his way was better than the way i do things, i'd want to learn how to do it rather than pout about it. otherwise, we're all just wasting our time.
As a germaphobe, gotta agree with that man. Dishwasher doesn’t do much besides polishing. You should still scrape and rinse don’t just leave it all to the machine entirely.
I’m with him on the dishes wash them out in. It’s a personal preference but not doing that doesn’t mean you are wrong.

Rinsing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher is counterproductive. The dishwasher works better when food residue is present. All you're doing is wasting water, energy, and time.
