Hello Cindy; I'm headed your way. I retire at the end of 2023 and have plans to move to Portugal. I'm still doing some early stage research. My main concern is that I'll be bringing my 79 year old mother with me. I'm not overly impressed with the Algarve's private health infrastructure I'm finding online.

Is cycling allowed? and under which conditions : Speed, priority to walkers, etc.

Yes cycling is allowed, there are no specific conditions so relies upon consideration by all users.

I do agree. Bikers and dogs run without any caution. It is not only destroying the whole concept but it is also dangerous. I have seen crazy bikers running extremely close to mothers pushing their baby stroller and without any warning. This tremendous trail must be reserved to pedestrians.

I agree with those who say cycling shouldn’t be allowed.
But, In my experience, those that do cycle, are thankfully courteous and careful.

The very best restaurant is "O Alambique" on the same road as the Conrad Hotel Quinta do Lago

Hideous, how can you say it's fantastic. It's a blight on the natural setting. Contrived and pointless. Ruined a lovely nature walk on red sand. Probably visible from space. Not in tune
with nature and hearding people to restaurants instead of enjoying the area. 30 years of walking in this area down the drain in an instant.

      Utterly idiotic comment! 🔝.
It’s perfect, well thought out way, to help families and older (less mobile ?) people safely access the Ria Formosa and associated beaches.
In early morning , and at sunset you see so many people taking exercise. It’s a spectacular construction, made of wood and totally in keeping with the nature.

@@maxflight777 Sorry to insist that I don't have the same experience as you regarding the safety. At your age you should know that humans are humans and not saints. I regularly use the boardwalk in all seasons and very few cyclists are complying with very basics safety rules. I have even seen users of electric "trotinettes" running like crazy through groups of families with little kids.
Furthermore, there is no signs at the entrance asking bikers to behave. It is becoming a jungle. Facts! Facts! Facts! Not philosophy!
