Joseph and Mary were simple poor people.
No need for pretense no need to add to the story so they can have power over others or to earn a degree.

The apocryphal books are not gospel. They are not scripture. They are only used to confuse actual scripture.
They are called "gospels" as a nomenclature because they are ancient texts about the life of Christ.
