  • The profound message of Jesus calling us his friends. This statement resonates deeply, and some religious groups, such as the Quakers or The Society of Friends, have embraced it as their mission statement. However, it's crucial to remember the fullness of our faith, which includes not just the joy of friendship with Christ but also the communal practices of prayer and the Eucharist that the early disciples cherished.
Being Christ's friends means more than just a title; it signifies a relationship where we dine with Him, welcome Him into our hearts, and experience His presence intimately. Friendship with God is a source of immense joy, reminiscent of reuniting with long-lost friends. This joy of reunion, of reconnecting, mirrors the spiritual reunion we experience when we respond to God's invitation.
Imagine the joy of seeing an old friend after many years, the warmth of that embrace, the shared stories and experiences. This is the joy God feels when we reconnect with Him. Even if we've been distant, God is always there, patiently waiting, knocking at our door, ready to fill us with the joy and gladness of His friendship.
Let us take the small step to open our hearts to God, to embrace His friendship fully. The beauty, the wonder, and the incredible feeling of being God's friend await us. Join us in this reflection and let the joy of divine companionship enrich your life.
