  • basic but efficient teg setup on ss14 packed.
    thanks to:
    darkmajia for inspiring a lot of this setup, particularly the trit vent
    pivotbash for bouncing atmos/teg stuff off a wall with me
    yester & crow for keeping me humble and always remembering to use their holofans
    my wife the teg

    Nice tutorial and setup.
    Would like to mention, the volumetric pump by the teg on the hot loop is your "throttle control" it lets you choose how much of the heated gas is getting pumped into the teg, generally more useful to configure that for a radiator hot loop, but it's a great way to conserve fuel and heat when your station doesn't need the full power of the TEG.

      true, thats good to mention! on the server this was recorded on the shifts never really last long enough that im running out of plasma, so ive just been setting it to max whenever...

    Thanks for the tutorial!
    Had no idea you could configure vents like that. I was happy with my 80kW TEG setup but apparently I was doing a lot of stuff wrong (using CO2 for hot loop and Water Vapor for cold loop, venting both gases, ...) and just got lucky. I'll try with that setup and maybe try to get the trit back into a canister or something.

      no worries homie! honestly, TEGs are super flexible, so that setup probably works fine too, this one is just for insane people (like meeee). if you want to get the trit into a can, your best bet is probably to use 2 scrubbers routed seperately: a scrubber with ONLY water vapor going into the teg, and a scrubber taking ONLY trit going into a can. before you get the trit into the can as well, you'll want to cool it using a cooler, or a radiator or something. hot gas generates more pressure, so if the trit is hot, it'll hit the canister's pressure threshold much sooner. you can store a lot more trit in a can when it's cooled because the gas has a lower pressure!

      @@mqoleWhy not run the trit and vapor through the TEG to cool em and then filter the trit to a can and the vapor to space. Saves needing to cool your trit down.

      @@andrewgreeb916 for some reason, filtering it directly from the burn chamber keeps it at the combined temperature of the oxy+plasma in the air injector most times ive tried. might have something to do with scrubber & reaction priority. maybe its just a big or something.

    I'd definitely capture the trit for making frezon rather than venting it to space but otherwise nice setup

      ya my go-to has become using a seperate scrubber for trit cooled & siphoned into a can, but i havent quite finished fuckin around with frezon. ill get to it someday

    So we tried this and it seems the oxygen miner can't keep up and eventually distro fails lol. Gonna keep experimenting with ways to do it a little more efficiently. Also seems you don't really need the extra pumps on the radiators.

      @mqole  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah you probably dont need the extra pumps. which map did the distro fail on? usually thats less of an issue with the miner, and more of an issue with the pressure settings. you can probably take the pressure on the teg down and keep distro sitting pretty. tbh i havent quite figured out the Perfect solution to that whole thang yet. if youre REALLY worried you could just fill a burn chamber with radiators but at that point the tritiums already there. gl with your experiments!!
