      You’re welcome! You’d be surprised how many hundreds of contacts I’ve had about them in the past few months alone. Then I got given a house plant with them so was time for a guide! Happy gardening. 🥷🌿🤘

    That was brilliant Lee,funnily enough I'm waiting an order of nematodes so this couldn't have come more on time👌🏼may I say though,I love your decor🤌🏻great to see you back.

      We synchronize again Roy! I got given a house plant which unbeknownst to me was full of fungus gnats hence the video. The nematodes are a very fast and effective solution. Would highly recommend that if people can afford them!

      @Gardenninja yeah,I've got a good teacher🙏🏼,I've used the nematodes outdoors on my rodedendrons and they were brilliant,a bit pricey yes,but a great investment,especially considering the price of houseplants these days,I have noticed too that the gnats won't go near the plants that have a coir/coconut"compost" mix.

      You’re welcome Karen. They can be little blighters and once you have fungus gnats they spread all round the house plant by plant. So treating them quickly is the key! 🌿🥷🤘

    I may have to try the sticky traps. I've found the best solution is mulching with horticultural sharp sand 😊

    • @Gardenninja
      @Gardenninja  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’ve never used sharp sand so will add that to the mix!! Fungus gnats are a real pain aren’t they! 🥷🌿🤘

    I don't even have plants anymore for a long time but still do have those gnats! I guess they're coming from something like a drain pipe
    Haven't tried yellow sticky pads or tape yet so maybe placing them around my suspected area would provide some results.

    Soooo if I use the gravel...will the nematodes penetrate the layer of gravel to get into the soil?
    Also, what about fertilizing?
    Do I alternate between watering with nematode water and fertilizer?
    Thanks

    • @Gardenninja
      @Gardenninja  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the nematodes will penetrate no problems. You only need to use the nematodes once in my experience. They’re highly effective. Then go back to your regular fertilizing approach. 🥷🤘🌱

      Fungus gnats can be a right pain but the sticky traps plus another form of attack works well! Let me know how you get on 🥷🌿🤘

    The only thing that is working for me is using Leca and Lechusa Pon , no soil in the house. I m honest a week so far still not completely out of the fungus gnats yesterday I found one but I m so happy so far Amazing improvement. I was to the point to put all plants in the trash🙏

  • @bellsibub9951

    I add some neem oil to the grit around the stem area. I am Gnat free.

  • @m4inline

    Those things! I have another option that actually worked! I got a blowtorch (actually a lighter and a can of deo spray) and toasted the entire top of the soil in the pot. Gone! Instant solve.

      @@Gardenninja here no i haven't! But i skimmed it just now! Great minds!! Actually you know it was me mrs. She's from post communist eastern bloc Europe. She put me onto it. She says grannie or grandad did it so she made me do it too. But it worked! Tell you what though thanks. I really love what you do.

      @@Gardenninja actually on that note....how do you design a garden where temps are -10c in winter and plus 40 in summer? Been meaning to ask someone that. 1000 sq metres and no restrictions on water storage. Clay soil. Local stone is granite or summit like it.

    Hi Lee, how do you encourage wisteria to produce a side shoot on the main stem?

    • @Gardenninja
      @Gardenninja  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the question. To be honest I’ve never known any one struggle for an established wisteria to grow. They are rapid. So my easy answer is, once it gets going you won’t need to. Alternatively you can nic just above a bud with a knife to stimulate hormone growth below. Have you read and watched my Wisteria pruning guide here? www.gardenninja.co.uk/how-to-prune-wisteria-winter-summer-pruning-guide-for-beginners/ 🥷🌿🤘

    • @unbeatablewinner2998
      @unbeatablewinner2998 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi again Lee. I’m ok with what you suggest but my problem is that my wisteria from the ground has a 5ft straight stem with no side shoots. I just wondered there was a way to start a side shoot or two lower down. ☺️

    • @Gardenninja
      @Gardenninja  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @unbeatablewinner2998 ok if you’ve just got one main stem. Take 1/3 off it just above a bud or where you can feel a ring on the main stem. This is also known as a node. Run your fingernail up and down until you feel a woody little rings around the stem. That’s the potential node. Cut just above it not below. Let me know how you get on! 🥷🌿🤘
