Hey everyone, if you’re looking to engrave just about any metal out there, I highly recommend this IR laser from Xtool. I love this thing and I’ll be engraving a lot more with it down the road 👍🏻 I hope you enjoy and have a great rest of the week!
I wouldn’t say deep like a fiber laser would do but enough to feel it with your fingernail if that makes sense. I’m sure with numerous passes you could make it deeper but how many I’m not sure. I’ll have to try and see
I keep sending my 15yo son your videos, he loves 3D printing and really wants to get into the lasers now too. He sent me his christmas list after your last video, what's 30K worth of printers and lasers right?! 🤷♂️
thank you for the Demo. I am in the market and this is New to me. Your video did help with me "thinking" that I know what equipment I need to complete my task.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the IR. I have the same unit and am still in the learning/ experimenting stage. I kinda wish you did and showed using mm per second instead lol. Your video is a big help. Thx
My question is, can it put some depth in the engraving? I have to heat treat the steel I'm working with to prevent rust. Does the machine have that capability?
Hello, I have a question for you. I have an Xtool F1, unfortunately attempts to engrave on stainless steel are poor. The color of the graphics is red-yellow, I tried changing the laser power, dpi, speed and it's still bad. Your graphics look very good, there is a clear contrast. When engraving text, it's OK, the letters are dark, but the photos of faces come out bright and practically invisible. Can you help me and tell me how to set parameters in the program? I have Xtool and Lightburn. Thank you in advance for your answer.
Ooof. IR lasers. I was partially blinded in my left eye by an aircraft equipped with an IR laser jammer when I was stationed at Offutt AFB in 2001. It only took an instant and was permanent. Even though your device and the jammer are vastly different in power and frequency, I don't think I'll ever own a laser engraving system despite how cool it works. Excellent video demonstration. 👍
Hi @Artbyadrock , are you using the D1 Pro 10 W or 20 W ? Do you think I can edge into stainless steel like you did in the video with the Infrared Laser on the D1 Pro 10 W ? Or would you say I need the 20 W ? Thanks in andanve🙂
I just saw the video again carefully and saw you used the 20 W :) You often mentioned using full power. Do you think the 10 W would be enough to get similar results to yours on stainless steel ? I'm on the verge of buying an Xtool D1 Pro with the IR Laser, I simply don't know if the 10 W is enough. Of course, I'm as afraid of spending too much money asmuch as I am of falling short.
Not real deep. If you want deep engraving you’ll want a high powered fiber laser. I just reviewed the Monport GI60 fiber laser. Take a look at that as it is great for deep engraving metal.
Make a template. Secure paper or card to bed, cut out and remove the circle. Then place coin in exact location, best with some double stick tape. There ya go!
Great video! Are you going to contact XTool about the discrepancy with the Focus Lever? I’m curious how XTool handles it. Thanks G-Pa J (aka John Hidalgo)
Hearing about the crafting on steel, I think I would love to see how well the engraving on such peace comes out, looking. 9:03 Wow! 😲 .03 on 1,000... I figured that was going to be Sharp, considering you always get good steel, the real kind.
Hello! I have an Xtool like yours, and I would like to cut 925 silver plates with it... Do you know if it is possible...? Thanks in advance. lots of health
The only laser you will see is the "positioning" laser, and the IR laser that does all the work is "invisible". To check the MAIN laser IR focus, go to "MOVE", set the laser power for ~ 20 %, hit "FIRE LASER" for just a BRIEF moment, check the spot diameter and the height of the laser at that test. Repeat for different focus heights. This will engrave a spot with the MAIN IR laser and the visible laser is just for alignment and its focus will change with height also. Rinse and repeat....
Can you help me I got the D1 pro bundle with the 1064 nm but I don’t know how to use the 1064 nm all I found was the program for the 20W and I was wondering do I have to have a different program for the 1064nm? Or different wattage for the 1064
No, use the same program whether it’s Lasergrbl or lightburn. You’ll just need to fine tune your power and speed settings based on the material you’re engraving.
I bought the xtool m1 last week and it just isn't engraving on my hot wheels. It will engrave everything else that comes with the laser. Any suggestions please?
Anybody know if these work on non xtool machines? Most laser modules are, well, modular and universal between machines ad long as they have the same voltage. I have an ortur laser master 2 pro and would love to get this. Since my other option for metal is a $7,000 fiber laser. I know ortur is supposed to be coming out with their own infrared module eventually, but not even an estimate on a release date. I've lost a few potential clients for my small business, that own their own larger business, because I can't do metal at the moment. Lol
7:23 please don't call that creature Yoda, Yoda already went to the force near the end of "Return of The Jedi". That creature is another of what Yoda was.
there is clearly a scratch in the gold ingot that wasn't there the frame before you scratched it with your fingernail. It seems in that particular example that it either doesn't work very well at all on gold or you just need to go deeper. I am curious as to which one it is, what are your thoughts on it?
I noticed the same thing - How he was able to put scratches on engraved letters with Just his thumbnail. I had to back it up to make sure it wasn't a trick of the light but it wasn't! His moving it around made the scratches more visible.
Hey everyone, if you’re looking to engrave just about any metal out there, I highly recommend this IR laser from Xtool. I love this thing and I’ll be engraving a lot more with it down the road 👍🏻 I hope you enjoy and have a great rest of the week!
I see they offer a kit with both this module and the blue laser module, what would you use the blue laser for that this one can't do?
@@benstrait333 the ir laser won’t work on wood and other materials that the blue diode will.
so as it engraves, does it remove some material?
i think this would be very interesting for making youre own PCB's.
can you test that?
So will this IR module deeply engrave raw aluminum? Or will it engrave deep on powder coated aluminum?
I wouldn’t say deep like a fiber laser would do but enough to feel it with your fingernail if that makes sense. I’m sure with numerous passes you could make it deeper but how many I’m not sure. I’ll have to try and see
Appreciate you mentioning the focusing issue. Haven't seen anyone else mention it, and I would have been putting up with sub par results.
This was very helpful, thank you for adding all the details and variety of tests!
I would also like to know what kind of depth you can do on steel with this laser.
can you engrave highly reflective metal plates? like electropolished parts? or would you damage the laser with it?
I'm SOOOOOO tempted to pick up the infrared module. I'm running the blue diode (10w) and love it. :)
It’s totally worth it 👍🏻
I just got my Infrared module. Love it as much as my D1 10w!
I keep sending my 15yo son your videos, he loves 3D printing and really wants to get into the lasers now too. He sent me his christmas list after your last video, what's 30K worth of printers and lasers right?! 🤷♂️
Exactly 👍🏻
i loveee the washer
Me too! It came out awesome
WWOOWWWW!!! GREAT TECHICAL VIDEO!!! THIS WAY WE CAN KNOW WAHT WE NEED TO KNOW!
thank you for the Demo. I am in the market and this is New to me. Your video did help with me "thinking" that I know what equipment I need to complete my task.
Hi, I'm interested in doing small jewelry pieces as well as powder coated mugs. Would this IR be best or is there something else?
Can't wait to see at work on Mr.Melter
You should be seeing it soon 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your experience with the IR. I have the same unit and am still in the learning/ experimenting stage. I kinda wish you did and showed using mm per second instead lol. Your video is a big help. Thx
Magneficent precision. Where do you source your metals?
Those r some sweet engravings....great job
How durable are the marking on uncoated metals? Is there any depth to them or are they able to be scrubbed off?
How did you get the circle on outer washer border so perfect . Perfect distance from the edge .
great video what settings did you use on the zippo? I have a Xtool F1
Hi, can I ask you if the xTool 1064nm Infrared Laser module is compatible with the normal xtool D1?
My question is, can it put some depth in the engraving? I have to heat treat the steel I'm working with to prevent rust. Does the machine have that capability?
Can this cut metal well aswell?
Hello. Have you ever marked blackened stainless steel?
Please answer me ,which laser is good for cutting 15 mm iron or 15 mm stone ?
That was an excellent video. Can you tell me why the steel washer has golden engraving ?
This thing is really awesome.
Happy Birthday Devil Dog
9:50 did not see that coming!! That is an awesome Zippo you have there, I would buy that off of you the asking price!!
What caused the color on the washer?
Great video! Is the xTool Enclosure: foldable and smoke-proof cover for D1/D1 Pro necessary for indoor use? Thanks
how do you change the power to continuous? Using light burn
Do you thinkbthis will cut 3-5mm steel sheet. Mild steel
Does this all come with the d1 pro when you buy it?
Hir bro, how long will it take you to carve a skull on a zippo?
Do you temper your crucibles and molds?

Did they fix the height adjustment yet?
Can I purchase it with just the XTOOL 1064nm Infrared Laser module?
Does it work with gold and silver?
Will this module work on a X TOOL D1 pro 5 w ?

What was the speed and power settings for the zinc? Thanks.
Does it actually “engrave” or does it only mark metal
Did you happen to try cutting the metal with this? I know some people have cut very thin metal with the 20W
Graviert auch Gold oder Silber?
Not metal related and sorry if I’ve missed this but… with the IR laser cut any colour or clear acrylic? I have the D1 pro and didn’t do my research 😂😅
need CO2 to cut acrylic
Have you measured the depth of the "engraving" with a micrometer? I tried and it does not seem to do any change to aluminum. Can you verify?
Do you know any other lasers that do?
Hi @Artbyadrock , are you using the D1 Pro 10 W or 20 W ? Do you think I can edge into stainless steel like you did in the video with the Infrared Laser on the D1 Pro 10 W ? Or would you say I need the 20 W ? Thanks in andanve🙂

That 10w or 20w ?
I also would like to know what depth it engraves.

how do you get your images so perfectly on the circles like a coin or washer. I really struggle with this problem
Make a template. Secure paper or card to bed, cut out and remove the circle. Then place coin in exact location, best with some double stick tape. There ya go!
Nice work
Great video! Are you going to contact XTool about the discrepancy with the Focus Lever? I’m curious how XTool handles it.
Thanks
G-Pa J (aka John Hidalgo)
Yes I will mention it to them. In their video they say you may need to adjust it but I didn’t think it would be that much 🤷🏻♂️
what to do if we need white impression rather than black?
Hearing about the crafting on steel, I think I would love to see how well the engraving on such peace comes out, looking.
9:03 Wow! 😲 .03 on 1,000... I figured that was going to be Sharp, considering you always get good steel, the real kind.
How about stainless steel gold chromed?
Hello! I have an Xtool like yours, and I would like to cut 925 silver plates with it... Do you know if it is possible...? Thanks in advance. lots of health
You won’t be able to cut it, just engrave it. You would need a fiber laser if you wanted to cut it
Is it possible to make PCB?
10:20 that's amazing.
So cool!
Could IR laser engrave zinc alloy?
how did you get the laser to stay on and in one place to manually focus it?
The only laser you will see is the "positioning" laser, and the IR laser that does all the work is "invisible". To check the MAIN laser IR focus, go to "MOVE", set the laser power for ~ 20 %, hit "FIRE LASER" for just a BRIEF moment, check the spot diameter and the height of the laser at that test. No protective goggles together with the ir laser?
TH-cam. Enough said.

No, use the same program whether it’s Lasergrbl or lightburn. You’ll just need to fine tune your power and speed settings based on the material you’re engraving.
Is Xtool the only company that does the IR module? or are there any cheaper alternatives? Unfortunately xtool is out of my price range atm Thanks :)
xtool sends out so many modules for free ..... how do i get one for my d1 20w pro system ?
So can you not engrave metal with the 20w that comes with the xtool d1 pro?
You can but not nearly as well. It also doesn’t work well on copper or aluminum. The IR will engrave all of them just fine
Hmm...embossed print, maybe..??or homemade printing press craft..?
hey bud do you think this would work well on gold?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t. It’s worked on all the metal I’ve thrown at it so it should be fine
@@ArtByAdrock love you dude
Love it!
what about in silver?
I want that washer
I bought the xtool m1 last week and it just isn't engraving on my hot wheels. It will engrave everything else that comes with the laser. Any suggestions please?
Is that the 10w? What are the hot wheels made of? Is it focused correctly?
how many wats is that laser?
Bro thanks for the video your awsome!
‼️Nice‼️
Why you didn't show how it engrave in color on metal
Good, it is amazing.
Great job on the videos. Can you engrave silver?
Yes you can
Want to get one aswell.

This is my question too. This would be nice to know. I know the xtool rotary machine is compatible with other brands.
I'll have to try mine on a piece of titanium I have left from machine shop days. I don't have a $30k chunk of gold laying around... lmao!
upon some channel surfing I suppose that's actually brass?
No need to say "what's going on everybody."
Bit beyond the pocket of the average DIY'er .
I watched the price, I was like...yeah no 🤣🤣🤣🤣

awesome stuff....but 3 hours 15 minutes?....yikes!
Es währe toll gewesen, wenn du deine einstellungen als ligtburn Datei mitgegeben hättest ;O)

The machine was the 20w pro but the new laser is the 2w IR module
