As soon as the Norse chant broke in I started getting shivers. I don't have a PlayStation and haven't played God of War but it just speaks to the power of music to convey a message.
Did anyone notice how he kicked up his accent? He's Irish, but his accent doesn't always come through when he sings. In fact, if anything it's usually pretty bluesy, as befits much of his music. But here there were definitely parts where he emphasizes and leans into it to capture a kind of folk storytelling quality. Gorgeous.
Yes! That’s exactly what he does! If you listen to his song “shrike” and “swan apon Leda” he kicks in the accent. But for songs like “movement” and “Jackie and Wilson” he has more of a bluesy rock sound. Truly a great performer.
I've even noticed it with myself, my accent isn't Southern, but it still gets masked when I sing. I guess that's just sort of a thing that happens with irish people XD
I’ll never forget when I first heard this song during the final credits of GoW, after completing a certain side quest once I finished the main story. It made the song much more emotional. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it since.

As a god of war AND Hozier fan and coming back home from training I was pleasantly surprised to finally play this game, finish it and hear this Irish man’s angelic vocal chords soothe my ears as i cried my eyes out.
Hozier wrote this song....he's also a terrific human.... Empathetic, articulate, well read, poetic, stands up for down trodden down folk.... Naturally normal and down to earth, and Irish..blessed with a honey voice, what's not to love..
he's quite underappreciated and somewhat underrated as an artist, yes everyone knows his name because of 'take me to church' but many don't dig deep. I was really surprised when I saw his instagram post of this performance. He's also not the type of musician who chases after fame, he quietly tells stories through his music.
You should go look at some folk metal like Eluveitie if the head banging with the hurdy gurdy tickled you 🤭 (this is meant to be a friendly comment, I hope that came across 🤐)
I usually don't listen to music with orchestral attributes, but Hoziers voice really pulls the whole song together in such a beautiful way. Everyone who took a part in this track is insanely talented!
I love all the music in this game--I especially love that the composer straight up has a self-insert character in it who also plays the hurdygurdy, looks like him, and whose name is just his first name spelled backwards lol
This song is giving kratos a voice he couldn’t express. What a beautiful song gave me goosebumps when he said “how dark the night, and how cold the wind can blow”😢

I Love the hurdy gurdy!!! I need it to be more widely known, most people go “you play the what?!” When I say “I play the hurdy gurdy.” And now we have a Duett of hozier and a hurdy gurdy player accompanied by a full orchestra, so maybe that will help! 🥰😅
